While a bit crowded, I like it. It conveys a "natural" feel of a pillage!

BrickArms Pirate Accessory Prototypes

DO WANT. The bayonet is perfect for a stilleto too, to go with the rapier... -
Also: I've been to 4chan.

The new soldiers, what shall I do with them?
QuartermasterRobert replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
I don't see what too wrong with mixing them with classic!Soldiers. Only real difference I can see is the new soldiers use a red torso. Classics used white with a red/blue print. -
No, but he owns a jukebox and blows crap up real good and fights with a mad scientist ape. Among other things. As for a furry, yeah. It's a community that likes to get in touch with it's animal side. To the point where they draw humanoid animals (anthros) having sex. In ways you did not THINK WAS POSSIBLE for ANYTHING to be having sex. If you're morbid, try googling VCL and look at the art there. Back on topic, these are really good. Keep them coming, it's like a pirate Disney movie with legos!
-
Ah yes, the difference between anthros and furries. Damned furries. Anyway, these are ammusing. And Mr. Toad isn't THAT anthromorphic. Fox McCloud can fly a starfighter

Gooooodbye, Shako shortage! Lol.

I have already tried google. I come here requesting help because of that, as there are many knowledgable types of characters here who seem to have good understanding of specific things. My request specifically needs Navy uniforms from the early 1700s. 1720 to 1740. This looks Napoleonic. My reasons for needing such sources is I am working on a story set in the 1720s through the 1730s, and I do not wish to make the same uniform mistakes as Pirate of the Caribbean.
-
Ahem. Yes. When I first came here everyone was most helpful in showing me some good references to Middle Eastern pirates and sail, with plenty of good Ottoman visuals. Well I come to you again with another request for aid! This time, I'm looking for good references of the British Royal Navy and Army, from around 1720 to 1740, mostly uniforms. Royal Marines are welcome too if you have anything. Descriptive articles are ok, but I would REALLY love some good visual references! I like to draw and I find it easiest to draw historical things with visual sources instead of written ones. And specifically, for the Royal Navy I need uniform looks for enlisted sailors, captains, lieutenants, and things such as first mates, bosuns, quartermasters and the like. Everything else I just need general information on right now. I thank all who contribute with much grace in advance!!!

The best sailing ship outside the Pirate theme
QuartermasterRobert replied to oo7's topic in LEGO Pirates
The shipwreck is nice... but that's all it is. A shipwreck. Durmstrang ship is good for pieces but the model itself is bleh. Iffy. And a humongous aftcastle. The Skelton ship is good, but SMALL. It should've been twice that size! The Viking Ship is nice... but has some iffy details. But also some really nuce ones. Fire Nation ship is all around good, and has little issues. It gets my vote. -
Is the white mage a custom figure? If so, do you have the patterns?

Review: 7979 Castle Advent Calendar (First Look)
QuartermasterRobert replied to brickbitz's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That maiden is wonderful! I could really use her. The other figures are good too. -
Eh, I say mix em! Don't really see what the big deal is, but then again I'm not as much of a stickler as some people are. Anyway. A personal project of mine CALLS for some African characters, so yeah, I have to sorta mix the heads some. I WOULD use fleshies for my caucasian characters (which makes up about half the crew... theres 22 major characters so far), but I don't have but the ones from the ESB Millenium Falcon. Also, fleshies are still limited in terms of facial expression, and while I'm sure I COULD find suitible heads for all my European characters in fleshie color and leave my middle eastern/Asian ones yellow, it's much easier to just use all yellows and use the few brown heads for Africans. On the side note, I agree that there needs to be more diverse heads in other colors! One of my said Africans is a young Taureg woman, and I really don't want to be reduced to using the generic smiley for her face.

Custom Brickarms Flintlock Musket and Pistol?
QuartermasterRobert replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Pirate MOCs
Yay! As for other eastern swords.... have you ever considered the slimer ones? Such as the tulwar/pulwar/samshir/turko-mongolian sabre? It's not exactly piratey per se, but it would make a fine companion to the dadao. And of course, we could still use some Ottoman/Arabic scimitars too... -
Custom Brickarms Flintlock Musket and Pistol?
QuartermasterRobert replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Pirate MOCs
Those double barreled pistols are great! If they're not acceptable, then couldn't at least make a higher detailed, single barreled pistol? Also, I'd like to see... -Musket rifles (NOT blunderbusses) -Bayonet accesories (more streamlined than a clipped on silver knife...) -Rapiers -Eastern swords, much like the one in oo7's image, would be great. Lego's official ones are too big :[ -Daos for Chinese pirates -maybe things like boarding axes would be nice too... -
This is really impressive! It captures the feel of Nepal very well.

OH HELL YEAH. I AM A HAPPY CAMPER RIGHT NOW, WOO! Here's my impressions: 6243 Blackbeard’s Pirate Ship THE GOOD: -Female blouse! Finally, some more civilian friendly costuming. -Mermaid legs. Now we don't need to use those darn Harry Potter ones. -IMPERIALS YAY IMPERIALS. -Overall the pirate torsos are nice and varied. -Multicolored parrot! -Good color scheme overall THE BAD: -It's small :[ -It's a bit <insert that tiresome argument> -The shark is kinda weird -NOT ENOUGH MINIFIGURES :[ 6242 Imperial Fort Battle THE GOOD: -Looks to be the best set so far. -Is totally old school -IMPERIALS DAMMIT. -Again, nice character variety -I love the tattered flags THE BAD: -Kinda small -NOT ENOUGH IMPERIALS :[ -Doesn't include the female... 6241 Treasure Island THE GOOD: -Is also oldschool -Again, fun pieces for the pirates. I love the shipwrecked shorts. -TREASURE IS SHINEE THE BAD: -Baseplate is weird -A catapult isn't really threatening... and the Imperial boat lacks oars lol -Could use another tree... 6239 Battle with cannons THE GOOD: -ALSO OLDSCHOOL -Army builder! -Again, the pirate design is good. -I love the little rock thingy for the pirate to shoot out of -New map design! THE BAD: -Could've used a plate... -Cannon needs a horse. -Could've also used a dihngy. 6240 Attack of the Giant Octopus THE GOOD: -Raft isn't too bad -Again, loev the pirates themselves -Parrot! -Spyglass! THE BAD: -The octopus is... transparent. -Could've used a few more doodads.

These are simply amazing. Will you be doing them in plain colors as well? I'd love to have a LotR longcape in red. -

Pirates of the Caribbean vs Vikings
QuartermasterRobert replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Mmm, I didn't see the Caribbean Vikings option... but I digress. I vote Vikings. Why? 1: The second and third PotC films stank :{ 2: Vikings were simply pirates of middle era Scandinavia anyway 3: Vikings are made of epic and badass. Pirates are cool, but come on. Vikings have HORNED HELMENTS and their own genre of metal music.
