  1. Thanks! Glad you like the poster, because I did spent a proper amount of time on that . Not just yet, though. For now, these are still just concerned Oleon-loving citizens voicing their concerns and woes in a non-violent way . I should really get around to actually properly formulating their base tenets, creed or demands. Yes, it is just some anti-royal graffiti. There is no harm to it, is there... ?
  2. I really love the log and wood design of the battery. I've been wanting to do something in a similar style, but I find it a difficult way to build. Like the others have said, it really fits the Barracuda Bay style. It's a cool build.
  3. Simple, but neat bakery. It does the job well. It really fits the tropical style of the sand castle contest. Like Vroski said: I can't wait to see your (maybe) Venice-inspired sand castle. A small note on the background story: BoBS is not completely a 1:1 adaption of the real world. "Italian" isn't really a thing. I'd change to that "Eslandolan", perhaps, because that faction is mostly Southern Europe inspired. Likewise, "Venice" is maybe too on the nose? You could change it to Venezzi, for example. That way people will still make the mental connection, but the actual name is not just a copy of the real thing. Just my 2 cents .
  4. So this was it: Oléon was going to war over Terraversa. Not long after the debacle with the Lotii, the blue coated servants of the King were sent to yet another island to die. The working class bleeds while the aristocracy fills its pockets. The King's declaration of war spread through Oléon like a wildfire. Not standing for this single-sided decision, the clandestine printing presses of the Heraclists worked overtime to print their thoughts on the matter and inform the people. Its members scurried to quickly put up the posters all over the cities where there was a loyal base. They would let their voice be heard. Somewhere in the harbor district of Granoléon, Emilien himself accompanied a group of militants who were putting up posters. The quaint parade of (sloppily) uniformed men and women, wearing their trademark red shawls and waving haphazardly put together flags, quickly drew attention of bystanders. Common folk that somehow made their living in paupers' districts of the city. The underbelly that would never be able to rise up above themselves or their class. Not one to let an opportune situation go by unused, Emilien took to stage on a crate that littered the street. Young Magnus kept a keen eye on their surroundings, clutching his knife tightly. You could never anticipate what was going to happen these days. Maybe some loyalists of the Crown would turn up and things could get violent quite fast then. "Friends, citizens, camérades!", Emilien started to speech, "as I am sure most of you have heard: our nation is at war! The blood of Oléon's sons is once again to be shed, only to enhance the prestige of the Crown and further the wealth of the aristocracy. They claim it will bring glory and fame to our nation. LIES, I tell you. This is nothing but a glorified trade debacle! They claim it will benefit all citizens of Oléon..." "LIES!", Emilien bellowed once more, wildly gesticulating with his arms, "Only the rich will benefit! How will young Sébastien benefit when he lies dead, face in the mud? Will costly war in far-away Terraversa put a roof over Alexandre's head?" "How much longer do we need to take this one-sided way of politics? How much longer do we, the people, have to work, bleed and die for the greater good of those who give nothing about us? The King commands and expects to follow him as if we were naught but his dogs!" "Our system is crooked! It is us who provide wealth and it is we who die for our country, so I say: it should be we who make the decisions! Power to the people!" "Vive la République!", the orator ended strongly, overlooking his crowd and smiling. "Vive la République!", cried Magnus, raising his fist in the air, accompanied by several other Heraclists and bystanders. ----- One of the poster put up by the Society: Caption: "The King commands, the People bleed - The King gets richer, the People starve" Just a small reaction MOC to the recent news of the Terraversa affair. I couldn't pass up this opportunity to let the Society kick the shins of the Imperialists . OOC: I applaud the preparation and planning it took Oléon leadership and participating members to launch this attack! Hopefully it will be a great succes! For Oléon!
  5. Yes! Oleon comes out on top! Vive Oleon! So proud to be first . Nice job everyone!
  6. Another excellent build! Great details and liveliness everywhere and I just really love that Zorro-style architecture.
  7. Neat builds all around! I especially like the interior of the office, with the ship in the bottle and the pictures of the people on the wall. The Isle of Tam looks equally intriguing. You can feel the howling winds and the waves battering on the rocks! Nice selection of minifigs and seagulls there.
  8. Aha okay. Shame you had to cut it though. I thought it might've been the shortest length of official rope with end studs, but that would probably still be too long to get this result. I've also seen dummer figures using rubber bands to attach the drums. I think using Harry Potter wands instead of billy clubs as drumsticks would also look good. They are slimmer and more akin to actual drumsticks than the clubs.
  9. The house/façade looks terrific! I like the use of olive green in combination with the light grey. The texturing and mottling is also nice, not too much or too little. The drummer steals the scene though. Very cool! Is the rope an official Lego rope?
  10. Simple but effective MOC. The prison looks really good, with the skeleton and spider on the walls. Interesting crew as well.
  11. Wonderful build! Age of Empires II crossed my mind immediately when I saw the MOC. As always, it's a super clean build with beautiful photography. The turquoise studs-out pieces gives a nice bit of texture and color to the house.
  12. That galleon's looks really nice and is instantly recognizable as a galleon, even for a nautical layman such as myself . It looks really massive! The junk is well-built, too, but I prefer the galleon.
  13. Like I said on Flickr: those look proper cool! Can't wait to see the complete MOC you're building for these guys .
  14. Nice MOC. It's good to see a more charitable and "calmer" side of the Order. Would be neat if this evolved into a longer story line.
  15. A simple MOC, but it works really well. I love the allround color combinations. The lime green gives it a proper exotic feeling.
  16. I've been meaning to reply to this thread for a while now, because I love the builds and story and I found it sad the topic had elicited so few reactions. What I wanted to say, has mostly been said by Grover already. I really like the story, which is grittier and darker than most "regular" stories about heroes. The builds accompany the story and the characters really well and I love everything about them. Very well done and I can't wait to see the next chapter(s). A small suggestion: maybe you can link to previous chapters whenever you add a new chapter? That way it's really easy to keep track of the full story.
  17. Yes, I meant the curved hull indeed. It looks like a proper junk! I don't know the Ninjago sets well enough, so I thought it was 100% your idea. Still, it looks great though . Nice application of the technique here.
  18. Beautiful war junk! The shaping is really well-done and unique. Where did you get the samurai mask, helmet and armor? Did you customize those yourself?
  19. The soldiers look great and the background story is befitting. Is the backpack an original piece or is it custom, like the rifle? Is the rifle Brickarms?
  20. No, Essen is a rather common name in the Low Countries and Germany. We have Essens here in Belgium, there's at least one or two in the Netherlands and the largest and most famous one is in Germany. It's the heart of the German industry in the Ruhr area. I just liked the name and decided to run with it. Glad you like the build!
  21. Nice to see some closer shots. The treasure junk looks really impressive and even bigger up close!
  22. Thanks for the compliments and feedback! I own zero green tiles, though. I'll need to order some for the future. The front right of the scene is where I ran out of green pieces and it shows most there. The figures cover it up somewhat, but without those it's an empty spot. In terms of area size this is definitely one of my larger builds. I also used most of my grey here . Usually, I tends to build smaller stuff, which suits my collection better. I've got a lot of minifig parts, but only a basic collection of building bricks.
  23. I second this! The use of the divers' fins as sails is very clever and works perfectly! The story is really funny, as well .
  24. Thanks, Beleg! The Death's Heads are just Essen's locally raised state troops, so I guess they're about on par with other Carnite city-state or royal troops. The soldiers from Essen do employ more aggressive pike-and-shot tactics than their countrymen.
  25. Great! Can't wait to see what you have in store. Seeing builder's progress is always interesting and educational. I forgot to mention it in my first post, but I also like how you matched New Nassau's existing building style, set out by @Fraunces (?).
