This will look really nice brick-built. Looks sharp. If I may offer a bit of feedback (which you can of course totally ignore), I think the garage would work better if it were on the end of the building, instead of the middle. Seems like the cars would have a hard time turning in to the garage with the pumps right there.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
thiot replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
So now that we have the Parisian Restaurant, what's the next modular? A government building of some sort? If it were to be a government building, I'd love to see a police station using dark blue as a main color. Or is it something that's more of a store a la Grand Emporium and Pet Shop? What about a scooter/bike repair shop? Would be great to get some more of those scooter pieces and some new colored bikes. Could we see something that breaks the mold of the traditional modular? What about an flatiron-style building? That would make for a very interesting model, and also provide some office spaces in the city without having to make boring office buildings. For train collectors and non-train collectors, a station would be lovely in a city layout. Yes, LEGO would need to figure out how a station would work in the modular layout, but it could be neat. Since we just had a restaurant and theater, what do you think will be next? -
These are some great vehicles. Since I use the vehicles to populate my town of modulars and creator buildings, these CITY vehicles will be great additions. I think there are some solid police sets. I won't be buying any because my layout doesn't need them. However, it's interesting to see some refreshes and improvements on classic ideas.

What makes you say it's selling very well? Do you have sales info? Or is it just based on from what you've seen? I believe there's a topic in the forum about the sales of the HE. If you have specific info on how well it's selling, could you post in that topic? Follow-up question: Anyone know how the sales of the HE (or Creator line trains) compare with the City line of trains? I know it's different targets and City includes motors. Just curious. To keep this post on topic, I'll end by saying my wish for a future train. I'd love to see a local commuter train that replaces 7938, but with functional doors that open at street level.

After looking at some real examples (from your brickshelf page and google), you've really captured this train in a LEGO build. I also appreciate the photos taken outside. Gives the train a more contextual feel. Great build. Thanks for sharing.

Love the nod to the Hot Rod Club. This makes me crave a modular fueling station for my town. I love the details and differences in each of the vehicles. They look great.

The mountain hut looks like you could MOD something great with two sets. I'd like to make a hut that's a bit bigger than what's pictured, along with making the mountain more of a mountain side than a micro-scale mountain. The Bald Eagle is a nice touch. Reminds me of 6552 Rocky River Retreat. Having said that, I don't view the Mountain Lodge as a true update of 6552 since Mountain Lodge is in the Creator line and not town line. Maybe it's more of a spiritual heir? What do you think?

Thanks zephyr, I look forward to building some in the coming years. I also look forward to contributing and not just lurking

Thanks. In the words of the ever-wise Randy Newman....well, you know how it goes.

We are lucky indeed. I don't envy your down under prices, either.

Just curious, has Horizon Express been successful?
thiot replied to FlyerNut's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I agree about the AFOL-oreinted trains. The same issues that faced the EN and Maersk are what the HE is up against. I think that the target market for this train will buy it no matter if they are European, Australian, American, or really located anywhere. Because we love great models of trains, no matter where the train the design is based on originates. -
What about the Clippers? no love?

Andy, I agree that it's an interesting way to be plucked out of the dark ages. It's been a great deal of fun, however. It's nice living in the area. I have three LEGO stores all within an hour. Feel pretty lucky.

I met Jamie for the first time recently at BrickCon in Seattle. He is a very genuine person and was quite open about the design process he went through. He even shared with me a little behind-the-scenes story about his "burned soup" quote from a couple of years back. What impresses me about him and his post is how he sincerely cares and thinks about this community. I agree with Jamie that he has a pretty impressive track record of creative techniques and originality. I also remember when I first saw Jasper's police station a couple years back. I saw it early on in my return to LEGO, and it was one of the first MOCs where I was at a lack for words to describe how impressed and jealous I was of the technique and skill (and also the fact that there are so many people with enough bricks to build bigger) MOCs). Both Jamie and Jasper are great builders. And a special thanks to Jamie for taking the time to explain his process and even give us a peak behind the curtain.

Greetings from Los Angeles! My name is Pierce and I am a big fan of your community. I am constantly amazed by the builds I see in the Train Tech forum. There are some very talented and smart contributors on here. When I got my first paycheck from my first post-college job, I used a portion of the check to buy from ebay a set I always wanted as a child: the 4558 Metroliner. I started to buy a lot of trains and quite a bit of 9V track, too. 2 Maersk Train 10219 - I also bought an extra wagon and built a full set of extra containers (with stickers). 2 Emerald Night Train 10194 - Three carriages total and I'm building a fourth mail cart currently 2 Horizon Express 10233 1 Metroliner 4558 - I have three passenger carriages total. My next train purchase will be a club car 2 Cargo Railway 4559 - This was the first and only train I owned in my childhood. I bought one on ebay and picked up my old one from home. 1 White Passenger Train 7897 - Found it for pretty cheap on ebay. 2 Red Passenger Train 7938 - I converted the two engines into passenger cars for a total of 4 passenger cars with 2 engines 1 Western Train Chase 7597 - Not sure if anyone counts this as a real train. I haven't converted it or anything yet; picked up it up clearance for 65% off a couple years back. Couldn't pass that up. I plan on picking up the Lone Ranger train and making that the first train I mod heavily. It's a nice play set, and doesn't look too far off from being a solid train model. Sadly, I don't have any train MOCs. My talents in life have not lent me an eye for the engineering of trains. The only MOCs I've created have been in LDD and have been modular buildings. However, trains are still my first love and the first topic I check on every day. Even though I lack much original train content to contribute, I look forward to joining in the conversations.

My name is Pierce and I've been following the site for the last 2 years. I recently attended BrickCon in Seattle - my first convention - and really enjoyed the experience. I work in advertising and film in Los Angeles. I'm an art director / graphic designer. I've loved LEGO since I was little. They were my favorite toy. As an adult, I appreciate LEGO even more than before; they are some of the most beautifully designed products in the world. I'm amazed by the simplicity of the connecting; it's impressive that the same bricks built decades ago can still fit perfectly with the newest bricks. Two and a half years ago, a good friend and professional mentor of mine had the opportunity to create a short film about the connection my friend has with his son through LEGO. We filmed him and his son going to Denmark for a tour. Working on this project pulled me out of my "dark ages" very quickly. Here's the film: https://vimeo.com/55116920 Shortly thereafter, I bought a set on ebay that I had always wanted as a child; the 4558 Metroliner. As a child, I remember looking through the LEGO catalogue wishing for that beautiful train. Once I bought this train, I couldn't stop. I now collect the mostly City/Town, Modular, and Train. I fell in love with the Monster Fighters line as well. The Haunted House is one beautiful set. I have a few UCS Star Wars models, and about 80% of the collectible minifigures. Those have been a lot of fun chasing down. I have enjoyed building modular buildings in LDD and am in the process of getting bricks to build some of my first MOC modulars. This is a small sample of my city. I didn't really lay it out with the intention of sharing, so there are no figures out. It was just a shot I snapped on my phone, but can give a preview of the sets I have. Also, I'm new to flickr and new to posting images on here, so I'll be learning how to better share images. Thanks for stopping by.
