1. With the launch of LEGO Ideas and deadlines being added, AFOLs will need to band together if we want to be able to get more out of the site other than licensed projects. That is why I'd like to ask you to support projects like these below. They may not be the best or most complex builds, but the proposals are solid and there are no obvious barriers to them becoming an official set. With no licensing, it being a reasonable size, no conflicts with LEGO's values, or any other dillemas, I see no reason these projects will not be able to pass review and become an official product unless the LEGO community continues to be apathetic to these projects. The biggest problem with these projects is they have not received enough support from the community and it makes it difficult for LEGO to create a business case for them. Please consider supporting them. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/7694 https://ideas.lego.com/projects/31711 https://ideas.lego.com/projects/17901
2. I posted this LEGO Metroid project to CUUSOO this past week and it's really taken off. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not sure about it's review chances if it were to get to 10k with the rejected Zelda projects, but I'm still looking forward to it none the less. Here's a link to the project: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/61357 Any thoughts?
3. For anyone who is interested, my latest CUUSOO project was just published. If you would check out the link and consider supporting, I would greatly appreciate it. Here's the link: http://lego.cuusoo.c...deas/view/47433 Thanks!
4. Yes! Congratulations to Brent on his accomplishment! I hope it fares well in the review. Does anyone mind if I shamelessly plug my new project? I built a quadruped dragon for the first time and I think it came out very well. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/40218
5. I must say I'm pretty happy with the replacement of the most commented section with the most viewed section. It's a pretty controversial change though, especially on CUUSOO. What are your thoughts? On an unrelated note, my project is about to pass the 1k mark. I'm pretty excited . Edit: Reached 1,000 and received an official comment. That made my day! http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/7694
6. Thanks! I think I get what you are saying now, but I can't do that with the current design. I can work on completely redesigning the head and see what results I get, but that will take some time. I'll update it if I come up with a better design. Thanks for the feedback!
7. Thanks! I'm glad you like the MOC. Do you mean moving the curved slopes on the side forward so they match up with the other one? I could work on remodeling the head. Thanks for the feedback!
8. Reddit happened: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1bzg8n/hello_rleagueoflegends_i_am_an_designer_for_lego/ I have a feeling it's going to be a while before we see another unlicensed project get to 10k. The mini shop series is less than 200 away from 10,000. It shouldn't be more than a day or two now.
9. Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the MOC.
10. This is the Dragon King who is said to be the ruler of all beasts. Whatever his name used to be is unkown for it has been centuries since it was last uttered. He is the biggest, strongest, most intelligent, and most ruthless of all the dragons. He lives deep in the mountains in unexplored land hundreds of miles away from humans. The dragon slayers have been hired to defeat him by the king because he has raided livestock and carried them away into the mountains, burned down villages, and even attacked the castle itself as well as singlehandedly decimating the king's whole army except for a lucky few who escaped. He has killed thousands of knights and dragon slayers amassing gold and treasure far beyond man's wildest dreams over his countless centuries of life. He is highly dangerous and is the most fearsome beast ever known. Will the Dragon Slayers be able to take him down, or will the hunters become the hunted? Feedback is more than welcome. If you would like to see this as an official set then feel free to support it on CUUSOO: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/7694
11. Thanks. It's labeled "pictures 1." Does that mean he has more pictures? It appears to be the photos we already saw, but I wonder why he would label it number 1.
12. Well, I hope it's still doing well. LOTR is by far my favorite line right now. Even though it's very unlikely, I hope we somehow get sauron in his physical form in a set. I always enjoyed seeing him in the movie.
13. Indeed, I really want to see the Witch-King and a fell beast before this line has had it's run. I wish we had some indication of how well the sets are selling for LEGO.
14. Here is my little analysis for each project: Modular Western Town- I see no reason for this to not be produced even with LEGO making The Lone Ranger sets. It's not like it has to go into production immediately. LEGO can simply push this project back to after The Lone Ranger has had its run. Granted there is still a chance that it could be rejected. This is a first with a CUUSOO project reaching 10,000 and having to compete with a similar line already being produced, so we will have to see how it plays out. The Legend of Zelda- I have no idea how this one is going to play out. Nintendo seems reluctant to have licensed toy lines other than the K'nex Mario line. I could definitely see licensing being a complication. I don't think there is any dispute though that this would probably have the most appeal to kids out of all the projects in review. If there was going to be a CUUSOO set that made it to store shelves, I think it would probably be this. BTTF- I have a feeling this is what was delaying the results for so long. There is allot of licensing involved in this one and while it certainly has marketability and passes the brand fit, the licensing may prevent it from passing. I don't have much else to say about this one. The Rifter- Licensing definitely wouldn't be the issue here. The developers have been completely on board from the start and are the reason it got 10,000. However, I don't know how well this would pass LEGO's brand fit. (Does anyone play?) If I had to guess, marketability would probably be the biggest problem with this project. How many people outside of EVE's relatively small fan base would buy it? I doubt I would buy it. I think one of these will probably pass review, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were all rejected either. We will just have to find out tomorrow. I must say though, I'm pretty excited!
15. Thanks! I am going for an official TLG vibe in most of my MOC's so I am glad you got that impression. I agree that the wings probably could use some more detailing. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the MOC and are supporting the project. That means quite a bit coming from a MOC expert. Do the tan plates look out of place? I'll have to get around to changing them. Thanks! I actually started off the whole dragon with the head. I was looking for a unique design and I came up with those overlapping plates. I am glad you like the MOC! First of all, thanks for all the wonderful feedback! - I know the bley looks odd and mess up the color scheme a bit. My parts limitations prevent me from fixing that right now though. - I agree the eyes look odd and artificial. I didn't really come up with a way to fix it though. I'll play around with some more designs though. - I definitely agree here. I wanted to have them continue down it's back and tail, but I ran out of the 1x2 plates with stud in center. - Removing them altogether has been a suggestion too. I will mess around with the wings some more and see what I can come up with. - The unique tail was a intentional design choice on my part. I wanted to give it an almost semi-aquatic feel to it, so I kind of disagree here. Thanks for all of the great feedback. You have no idea how much I appreciate suggestions like this. It only helps me improve. I am glad you enjoyed the MOC! Thanks for the feedback everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the MOC.
16. Hydrakes are deadly, nomadic wyverns. They can be found in jungles, deserts, mountains, marshes, the tundra, and even diving in oceans. They are notorious for hunting prey to near extinction before moving on to a new location to hunt. They are capable of firing a powerful, concentrated water beam with enough force to punch straight through the strongest of armor. Hydrake by reptiman1, on Flickr Hydrake by reptiman1, on Flickr Hydrake- The Nomad Wyvern by reptiman1, on Flickr This was originally made for my project on CUUSOO, but I wanted to get some feedback here. Comments and criticism are both appreciated. Have a nice day!
17. Thanks for the advice. If get to redoing him I will try make the tail "tip" at the end. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it!
18. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to play around with some scenery and LEGO water and it turned into this. The monster was fun to make too.
19. I think the tail length is fine personally for a river monster. However, I do agree with you about rounding it off especially with the under belly and shoulders. I'll try to get to it as soon as I can. About adding different greens, I did and then it looked like barf literally. Is there any other color you think would accent the dark green well?
20. Yeah, I got a bit of a complaint about that. I can easily fix that if I put one more plate on it's stomach. I might just have to update it some time. Glad you like it. I am going to have to get working in the guild after this...
21. Hello everyone! I made this for my CUUSOO project here: lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/7694 Enjoy the MOC and be sure to let me know what you think. This Sea Monster waits at the jungle's river waiting for the right moment to strike. It has a long poweful tail used for swimming and strong claws. Other than that I'll let the pictures do the talking. Constructuve criticism is appreciated. 22. Anyhow, I don't know if this was posted or not, but the CUUSOO staff have put up another blog post. With the rush of projects that are reaching 10k only one will be able to be produced every quarter while the others will be placed in a queue. The full blog post is here: http://legocuusoo.posterous.com/new-quarterly-lego-review-process Have a nice day everyone!
23. I agree it is a bit unrelated, but I am glad you like my project! I appreciate it. On the topic of the Winchester, I can't say I am surprised. LEGO's violence policy has always been pretty strict. I am very sorry for Yatkuu. It is a shame it got rejected, but I guess TLG had to do what it had to do as a buisness. I agree completely. I don't think that that too many people are going to buy the minecraft model though. The model was not quite what I think the majority of people had in mind. While micro was the best direction I think, I imagine the majority were expecting something different. The source material was minifigure scale after all. Honestly though the whole thought of LEGO minecraft never wowed me. I could be completely wrong on it's sales though I think that the sales of the next three projects assuming their passed (BTTF, the Rifter, and Minecraft) will determine what TLG uses for their stance on liscences on CUUSOO.
24. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am going to be MOCing Climbing some cliffs to slay some Dragons. Anybody have any tips to create climb the mighty rocks? Thanks for the help everyone! I hope to slay my first beast in the guild in the next couple of weeks.
25. I Sir Anturio the Dragon Slayer pledge my allegience to Kaliphlin! May we conquer many a castle and slay mighty beasts! Knight by reptiman1, on Flickr
