I managed to fix this with some sub-degree tinkering, but only after deleting the rest of the set. The ship is here.

Just raided my old instruction booklets and found thirty sets that don't show up when I ctrl+F the numbers on the index page. I'd better get on with it then

Unavailable Colors
Hubertbrickengineer replied to Thomas of Tortuga's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Are you sure you're in extended mode? You're describing the functionality of regular mode - It has a lot more parts than it used to, which may be a source of confusion. -
NEW LDD Brickset out - 1392
Hubertbrickengineer replied to Lyichir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It's not perfect, but that's super useful. The scrollbar keeps freezing, it doesn't scroll using the mousewheel, and the images are pretty small - minor usability things, but some of those lists (torsos, for instance) are pretty extensive. -
Fantastic stuff, I'm a huge fan of the portal series and these are just perfect . When lego puts this into production - when, not if, dammit - it will be my first purchase as an AFOL. There's a huge opportunity to appeal to non-lego fans here too, the rate other portal merchandise is flying off the shelves they can't not put this in the works. I didn't know about this until it hit 10,000, but one definite support from me if it needed it. Congrats on a great piece of work

New Narrow Gauge Train in 4204 City Miners Set
Hubertbrickengineer replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
according to the instructions here: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6012863.pdf the mine set contains 8 of the rail pieces, continuing beyond the tunnel -
How about a hatchback version: Since I build without the intention of bricking, I haven't checked the colours, the only part that may not exist is the red rear windscreen. I wanted to have a clear rear window but it didn't look right without a plate between it and the rear lights. Based from SearchFunction's first design, with a bit of the others in there. LXF here

I've recently fished out some of the models from my childhood (the last 'batch' never got broken up, just stored as is) and I'm tinkering with digitalising them in LDD... again, they're made with what I had available, with some novel inventions that will have to be updated. Unfortunately Digital Designer is quite restrictive to 'legal' brick connections, I don't think you'll be able to place the bricks in the arch. You may be able to put them next to it at the desired angle using a hinge and some scaffolding (which is then removed from the model), but it will be no more connected than it is now. As a side note, you might want to check your image sizes as Eurobricks has an 800x600 limit

Modular Starfighter [LDD MOC]
Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hadn't considered using templates, mine are so scattered with other things (mostly decorations that aren't in extended mode) I find whenever I add a new template the whole thing rearranges itself, I can never find anything. It would be nice to have 'template catagories', with one for modular spacecraft work, one for decorated pieces, one for a particular MOC in progress, etc. On that note, I'll pop a post over in the LDD wanted features topic -
Old LDD files
Hubertbrickengineer replied to deckersk's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
deckersk won't be able to link to an upload until 5 posts, I'm not sure about attaching directly As for the models, the older version of LDD may have used a different model for the same piece, or a slightly different piece entirely, as several errors have been ironed out during updates. So although you'll be able to find the part in the pallet, it could have a different 'boundary' to the one you used originally, which means it might not fit directly where it used to be if the surrounding parts are not quite placed correctly. Different versions of LDD have allowed different errors/illegal connections. The only real workaround is moving sections of bricks away from the model, replacing the piece, and placing the sections back, but without seeing the models I can't help any further. H -

Use File -> Import Model and select the LXF. file you want to bring in - in this case another module -
Modular Spacecraft [LDD MOC]
Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Something a little larger... Full Image (Edit- reduced image size. I thought there was a limit, but couldn't find what it was) Some people, if they deserve the title, need to be locked up. And sometimes, they need to be moved. Acting as both prisoner transport and a mobile prison, the Red-Nebula Security P-24 "satan's ribcage" lockdown vessel contains 24 fully independent transport pods, which provide individual confinement volume adequate to the Systems Welfare Treaty Vol 6.x.12. Prisoners have zero access to the dual hull crew compartment, and in extreme circumstances individual pods can be vented to ensure subject cooperation. With no armament of its own, and limited shielding, RNS employ T1 Bakemono escorts (although, subject to the emergency venting protocol, assisted jailbreaks have so far been unsuccessful). For contracts in terminus systems, where the Systems Welfare Treaty is not regulated, the prisoner capacity is greatly increased and the P-24 is often deployed as a fully operational orbital prison. This practice is, of course, categorically denied by RNS central command. -
Modular Starfighter [LDD MOC]
Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Ah, I missed that. Mine turned out smaller than I'd intended but that means it fits nicely in-between... I've just created a brickshelf account and will link to some stuff on the other thread -
Hello all! I join this site from an entirely digital perspective, with Digital Designer being my lifeline to the toy that made my childhood. Although the entire volume underneath my bed at my parents house still consists of my original Lego connection, as a student AFOL I most certainly don't have the money to be throwing at some of the projects I see on here... and If only I did On those grounds, I never entered the so called 'Dark Ages', I got my first set aged 5 and have been a dedicated (perhaps obsessively) fan ever since... I'm even studying engineering to play with life size lego - uh, I mean, buildings and infrastructure Can't believe it's taken me so long to find this place! I'll be here to stay, that's for sure...

Modular Spacecraft [LDD MOC]
Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
First prototype's made! I based my modules from element 64179 "beam frame 5x7". This allows plenty of interconnectivity from the technic element, as well as the hollow centre allowing a continuous interior. A minifig can stand in the modules, and duck through the frames, a little like a submarine... in space. The disadvantage is working in an odd number of studs, but I find if something is a little less easy, it actually turns out looking better through more inventive moves. Anyway, module concept: As this is a first run, the fuselage is a bit bare, but there's plenty of scope for further detailing. There are also a few locations where the construction is a bit... weak. wouldn't stand up to too much play in real life, but it works as a proof of concept. I haven't made any wing or engine modules yet, so this uses Vynsane's, but I suppose that's kinda the point of this thread/project/thing No fancy photoshop on this one I'm afraid, but there might be some later... The cockpit and the 'crossroads' behind it were horribly fiddly, but I think they've turned out pretty well. LXF here: named bulldog class for no good reason, in Systems Mining Corps livery Colour coded modules (also mostly grouped in LDD): colour coded The shape of the modules lends them quite well to a space station... might see where that goes Oh, and I want to make the airlocks (blue) open somehow... Hope you like what I've done so far, new and improved modules on the way -

Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
the detail in that cockpit is spectacular... I don't have the patience for detail on larger models like this, which is why my current WIP fits between this and the starfighter in terms of scale. I stumbled across your starfighter page as a guest, and, well, I'm inspired I'll post something here when I've got it -
Modular Starfighter [LDD MOC]
Hubertbrickengineer replied to vynsane's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi vynsane, I absolutely love these starfighters, the curves and the detailing are amazing! I've dabbled a bit with modular building myself but I never got it looking right... needless to say I'll be playing around with these! I might also try to come up with a larger fuselage module series, for freighters and frigates and the like. I'm picturing a dual hull freighter with a full compliment of Tanuki Corp fighters... EDIT: I've found quite a nice system centring around piece "64179 beam frame 5x7", which allows a multitude of hard points and a standing figure within a module... I'll upload something soon keep up the good work!
