[G:K15, DK vs. U] Blocking the Serpent's Crawl
Kai NRG replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Guilds of Historica
You want food? We'll give it to you! Counter. -
Counter to Jacob Nion's build. Inside a fisherman's hut near the serpents crawl a group of peasants were gathered, grumbling together over the hard times. "And things are just getting worse, what with this war and all! Did you hear the latest?" "Don't tell me!" exclaimed another, "I've had them out here three times already, taking all my food for their giant pet!" "What's this you're talking about?" interrupted an older man, the owner of the hut. "Those rascals of rats have bribed the cyclops that lives at the beginning of the new serpent's crawl. The only sort of thing he'll take is food. And where do you suppose the rats get the food?" "From us, of course!" ejaculated another young man. "There's got to be someway to stop this!" He sprang up and began to pace the small room. "That cyclops is just getting bigger and bigger too. He's almost triple his original size. Which means he demands more food than ever," the first speaker continued grumbling. "That's it!" exclaimed the young man. "He wants more food - well, let's give it too him!" The others looked at him in surprise. "What do you mean?" "Listen," he said, lowering his voice. "I'm not quite the peasant I seem. I'm actually a Ulandian soldier, and I have a few buddies here to back me up. Now here's the deal. You guys build me a giant pig and bring it to the rats. We'll hide inside it and undertake to give that big guy a bit of indigestion before all's said and done!" And so the plan was carried out, and the Ulandians were soon inside the Cyclops' stomach, where they slowly but surely began to poke and prod their way out. The extreme discomfort caused by their sword points soon caused Cyclops to go rather insane, and the rats were forced to flee for their lives. By the time they returned, the cyclops was torn into a mutilated heap with a group of Ulandian soldiers on top, who quickly chased the rats back into their sewers or whatever nasty place they came from! Inside the stomach... Overview. It looks slightly bigger than Jacob's but I believe it is actually very close to the same size. Bet you didn't know that Cyclops eats his live pigs whole. No doubt, especially when they're like this one, he finds them hard to chew. Another fun build for this challenge, I'm interested in seeing how you guys like the idea! C&C appreciated as always!

That is really quite (surprisingly) true. For their relative sizes, it seems the DK and HC have switched places!- 272 replies

[CG:B8, DK vs. U] Nocturnian Cavalry Boar
Kai NRG replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Guilds of Historica
A joust is a brilliant idea, and the piece use for the boar's snout is excellent! -
Love how you went through the extra trouble to make a finished in progress shot, if I may so express it! The various construction tidbits are very nice! Looking forward to seeing the final thing!

What I was saying was at least one approval in those four days. I think that should be pretty easy? Even two might well be possible, and certainly a build that hasn't got even one in a min. of four days isn't likely to pass. If you post this thread each Tuesday, that would leave today at least for it to get it's one approval (halfway through the week it's for = halfway through the week after it was posted - the earlier it was posted the more time).
-
But it's a two point square. So a) shouldn't we have three weeks? and b) if one fails the other one can't attack on its own, right? (Entirely apart from the fact that both might fail.)

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
A commentary on thy ancient English. To be correct, thou oughtest write either doth speak or speaketh, not both. -
If I recall correctly all cities are allowed three weeks. Just FYI, the way I think most of us have been doing it is we've been posting counters in the week thread and guerrillas in the Cat. C thread. Umbra-Mantis' and BMS' are both on the same (2 point?) square. However, it strikes me that Umbra's at least is not going to get approved which would make both invalid. How are we going to handle this? MassEditor's is also missing. NVM
-
I believe Umbra-Mantis' never got the right amount of approvals (if he even got any). I'm kind of curious to see how this sort of thing will play out. Seems like we have the same thing this week. Now obviously it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for us to waste our effort countering a build that never will be approved. But then on the other hand the last thing we want is for the build to get approved after the deadline for countering! So is there some way we could say that if the build doesn't have any approvals halfway through the week it's for it expires?

Though Ameribricks was better.

[CG: J10 U vs. HC] How Adira got to A15...
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks guys! <p>I tried to stick to a fairly third person view of Adira, that is, one that could be written off as the stowaway's biased impression, so hopefully any unsatisfactory parts can be easily ignored. As for what was the guerrilla, I quote Ska on the week four post, "SPECIAL: This one got a little confusing, so here is what we are going to do. Since there are two builds here, you may pick one build to counter. If Adair Wins both, the challenge is successful and HC takes the square. and he will get 12 personal points (if both builds are contested, 4 in no are contested, 8 if only one is contested and he wins the vote)." So I picked this one, although I actually had a good idea for the other one (though I'm not sure how well most GoHers would have received it! -
Really nice job on the dark grey ruins! Good work with the trees too.

The sun has risen! Better pictures now up. Thanks Little John! How you managed to see any detail in that picture though is beyond me! Yes, she better stay away from anything that looks wet in the future! The extra hairdos have been removed as per suggestion. Thank you! -

Thanks everyone! True enough! But Ulanders are tough. They're used to a bit of discomfort, otherwise I'm not sure how they would sustain what you put them through... Thanks! Catch me if you can! Thanks! -
