DAY 2 So today i was actually shocked by the lack of parts in such a big box......but then again, all the doors are the same size.. Here is today's gift: You get a nice power chain saw, and some 1x1 round studs in brown a tree trunk. No spare today though... Chainsaw is a really dirty build; simple yet effective. By the way, i actually have a Lego City AC, and a Malteasers AC. It's great that every morning i get candy and a little Lego surprise!!!!! Before any one asks, there were no instructions this year. TLG have printed a completed ISO drawing on the back of the door. UPDATE: For day 1, i did get a little paper flyer advertising the new Mining sets though...seemed out of place now...

That looks really good! I love the full layout.... May I suggest a "cheap" but easy way to add to your town, maybe pop in a parking meter and double the street size, so there is on street parking? Just a thought? You could also get away with doing a Light Rail, rather than train station. We have LRT in Calgary, and it is pretty ugly in some parts (where i live) but it's in the middle of the road? I'll try to get a picture to put here to give you an example. http://www.lightrailnow.org/images02/cal-lrt-marlboroughstn-crowd-median-expwy-trf-20040511_jon-bell.jpg Keep up the good work...Wish i could get back to building....just moved to Calgary for college, and all my LEGO is in Scotland still...I only have few PAB cups to tide me over......so sad...

For those interested the new Advent Calendar for 2012 is now up on the (Canadian) Lego Store. You can check it out here: Product Description for 2012 Advent Calendar It appears to be focused on the Fire Fighters this year...interesting..does this mean we can look forward to a police specfic set next year. Perhaps we'll get construction themed, farm theme, marina theme, and Civilian Themed sets in future. I'm gunning for a Civilian Theme set next year? How about you!

So before I show you the Picture of this MOC, it has a bit of backstory. When I used to build as a kid, I never put roofs on my creations for 2 main reasons. (1) So that I could easily access the insides and (2) because I had no money to buy roof pieces...(Well that last one relates to now....) But anyway here is my MOC Motel. Let me show you it's many features as we follow a guest, who we'll call Rick! Here is an overview shot, showing Rick parking up upon arrival. Rick decides to make use of the Porte Cochere, and pull up to unload his luggage. Here is a Fig-eye view of the entrance to the lobby Next, Rick introduces himself to Nigel and Shiela, who run the reception and motel. Shiela kindly check's Rick in, on her computer, while Nigel attempts to play Tetris on his... Now booked in, Rick makes use of the Cash Machine located in the lobby. You never know when you might need some... Rick makes his way to Room 101. It's very convenient since it's right next to the lobby! Rick decides to bed down early, cause he has an early flight tomorrow at Legoredo Airport! The next morning, Rick makes use of the facilities, using the toilet, shower and sink. Rick then gets all his affairs in order, and stares at the wall, wondering why he is doing this... Rick heads out his room, and call the airline using the pay phone, to ensure his flight is on time. After this, Rick heads to the breakfast nook, just off the lobby. There is a wide selection of fruit and pastries, as well as on tap coffee, and fruit juices. You can even pick up a yogurt or cold drink from the fridges. After breakfast, Rick checks out, and prints out his boarding passes at the free Internet Terminal. Before heading to the Car, Rick checks his baggage to ensure its the correct weight and will fit in the overhead bins. After loading up the car, Rick drives off to the airport, ready to catch his flight. What a relaxing stay. ------ This hotel took a lot of planning, from the point of desining the hotel and adding car parks and what not. It is 64x32 studs wide, which presents it's own problems in trying to photograph it!!! Here is an overhead shot of the hotel. You can see the lobby and breakfast room on the right, the rooms on the left, and the Staff/Storage room at the end. Please go ahead and criticize at will! I understand that it might not appeal to some of the posters here, because it lacks a roof, but I just liked how it manages to encapsulate a minifig scale motel. For those who are wondering, the color scheme is based off of Best Western/Econo Lodge's that I have stayed in over the years. Enjoy! Now that I have got this up, I can now focus on my Costa MOC....

You coul always add a car wash.....I have always wanted to have a Lego Car wash...don't know what it is about them....
-
Loving this...Much more realistic to real pumps. But you should build a forecourt roof, which has things such as pumps reaching the roof, and the obligatory, cone over the broken pump. Maybe an ATM around the back???

Thanks for your input Lightningtiger! It's going to be closed in like a modular. If i am going to have the Drive Thru element, it'l will need to be really to get the best out of it. And YES! Lego should always have an interior......always....i sometimes wish LEGO would learn that we like it when buildings have interiors...it add's more play-a-bility. That might just work, though i'll need to get some off of PAB or Bricklink...as i only have 3 in red....I'm gonna try and get some pictures of the one near me, so you can get a clearer look, as the elevations are quite hard to see....
-
So....It's time to do a new MOC. I have been wanting to do a MOC Fast Food Restaurant with Drive Thru for sometime, but didn't have the right model to go for....But alas i have my inspiration... Costa Coffee is a brand of Coffee Shops located all over Britain. They are the largest and most favored coffee chain in the UK, beating out Starbucks...which in my opinion is great in the USA and Canada, but sucks here in the UK. Here are some elevations that I have "borrowed" via Google Images. Any suggestions for the roofing? I am toying between using either plates, or using 1in3 slope bricks. Your help is greatly appreciated!

LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers
WideWiiLover replied to Ryan_T's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
So, was browsing YouTube and came across this full 1hour 38 min movie liscensed by Lego that is actually REALLY GOOD! I don't know when it was realesead, but it is available on YouTube under this link The Adventures of Clutch Powers What made me laugh is that Lego included an inside joke to AFOLs in the Mad Scientist's name.......He is called A. FOL....... So i think most of you guys would like it. IT is aimed at kids, but kept me interested..... -
I'm out of high school in Florida, living back in my homeland in Scotland, whilst about to attend University in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. You could say i'm well travelled, and so is my bricks!!! I am studying to be a Computer Network Technician.....So I guess i'm an engineer of some sort....
-
Hey. I'm from Scotland, but will be relocating to Canada (Calgary to be exact!) for Uni..... Any tips from AFOLs in the know of the area. As far as i know, there is a Lego Store in Calgary...but after that i don't know... Any tips then? WWL

Update time! So here is what i have now This is a front profile. I have built up the facade a little more, thus letting in more natural light on the foyer. You can see i am done tiling the front, and have added some railing to symbolize the queuing going on at the box office This is the inside. Here we have the foyer. You can see theatre 2 on the left, and the refreshments counter on the right. The blue box across from this is the ATM. The white podium is portable and can be placed at a theatre door to take tickets. Here's a hallway shot, you can see the whole way down to theatre 1. This is the box office, fitted out with computers, desks, ticket machines (red boxes) and the obligatory safe. To finish off here is a lovely shot from a mini fig perspective. I hope everybody likes what i have done! If you have any suggestions on improvement, please leave a comment below. THANKS!

Hey there! So i am planning on building a street level YO Sushi! restaurant and bar in my town. It is most likely going to sit next the cinema. Here is a picture of the Cambridge version. I want to build a similar design. but to a smaller scale. Thoughts? Ideas? Please post below....i need some inspiration from the many great minds on EB! I will update this post as i build on...

Hey All! I have been recently getting back into MOCing....and since i have a horrendous amount of blue chairs.....a Cineam seemed the best step forward. The pictures below are obviously a work in progress. I still don't know if i plan on expanding the cinema or changing it up a little. I can tell you that next to the cinema, I will be building some form of fast food outlet/sit in restaurant. But enough about plans, let's look at pictures This is Theatre 1. It is located behind the box office. All the Theatre's feature stadium seating. No Minifig won't be able to see! This is Theatre 2. It looks toward the other theatre, and offers the same seat count. This is the front of the Cinema. The double doors lead into the foyer. Behind the grey window, will be the location of the refreshments zone. The green shutters are the box office windows where Minifigs will buy their tickets, at the box office. This is an overall view. You can see the two theatre's at the back, the foyer with refreshment area on the left. There is also the box office at the front right. At this point, i think i might add on a 3rd, larger theatre to the back right, and put the fast food place in front of it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and will be considered. Keep watching. More updates coming soon.

Can I just get a round of applause for this awesome moc. I love all your detailing and to me it screams Waffle House! If you are planning on chaining anything, i would make the kitchen a little bigger, but other wise amazing PLEASE tell me how you have made those booth seats....they are AMAZING!

OMG! I love what you are doing with your town, lightningtiger. I was away for a month, and then "BAM!" this pops up. On the topic of the "Ford" Dealership, I would maybe go ahead and do a smaller building with a sales room on the side. Here in the UK, many town dealerships have maybe 1 or 2 inside. The rest live outside. And our nearest one has a gas station attachment as well. Just my two pence. Keep up the good work though, i'll be following this thread for sure.

Really neat idea! I am just back from a 2 week European Trip, which has given me a ton of ideas for MODs and what not, and these are all over most of Holland! I love how you went that step further, and added wheelchair access. Clearly your Lego Town is trying to meet the European Disability Laws! I'm a conformist!

I really dig the stained glass windows ...can you give us a close up on those to see how to do them? Brilliant Church though.....i like how your attention is drawn to it, and it makes everything around it seem smaller. BRICK ON!

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
WideWiiLover replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hey There! I would "love" to me accepted into the Reviewer's Academy! I really want to a) improve my reviews and b) come out my dark ages with a bang! On sets: I have about 20-30 various sets from Racers, to Town/City, to Legends. I like to mix things up, do a new review, and a classic review every so often! I have a Canon EOS Rebel camera, and i have a white room, i can shoot models in. I also have a high end MacBook Pro, with Photoshop (soon to have Aperture) I think i am super qualified: I have a review already on the EB, link is in the sig! Thanks! WideWiiLover
