  1. The 250th comic is up! (Part 5 of Lunch Time): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=651199
  2. I think Batman has the most options for sets, as you've got all his "wonderful toys" and the Batcave, as well as all of his villains' wacky vehicles. There's a lot of other heroes I would like to see in minifig form, but not many that have interesting sets they could come with.
  3. I think it would be a travesty if Lego ended the Indy theme without making a Grail Temple set.
  4. Lunch Time (Part 4): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=650323
  5. Lunch Time (Part 3): http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=649822
  6. Oops! I'll have to watch out for that.
  7. The lopsided hats are that way for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's very difficult to balance them on a spaceman's helmet, let alone between a robot's two antennae. I have to use scotch tape and, even so, they fall off a lot as I move the characters around. I tend to photograph the hats in various stages of falling off, because I don't feel like straightening them up every time. But also, I prefer the hats move around and be lopsided, as I think it adds to the expressiveness of the characters. Or to create that illusion, anyway. :)
  8. Finally, someone had made an awesome LEGO Dalek!
  9. MUST HAVE WAMPA. I love all the recent Hoth sets. TLG is recreating the whole environment from ESB.
  10. Yeah, Ronald has lived quite the pampered life (and you'll soon get an idea why), so he doesn't take to the working life easily. He will always have to weigh his job against owning Eternia. Which, for a true toy collector, is a very tough choice.
  11. Lunch Time (Part 2): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=648294 That is a good point, though, Batbrick. I appreciate the constructive criticism amidst the praise. :)
  12. I'm aware of what it seems like, but hang in there and you'll see there's a reason for everything.
  13. nearsightedness
  14. Lunch Time (Part 1): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=647753
  15. Scouse sometimes wears sunglasses, like in that G.I. Joe storyline where he pretended he was a producer of the new film.
  16. Scouse ***** Up: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=646597
  17. No, I'm not kidding. It actually does.
  18. The current schedule I have in mind calls for two one-shot comics this week (with one going up tonight), followed by a short storyline (about 3 comics or so) that actually (By God!) resolves one of the comic's many ongoing mysteries/storylines. And then Date Night.
  19. Buddy's Big Night: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/?p=645342
  20. I don't wanna overuse the Doctor and I want to stay consistent, so I was planning to stick with his 8th incarnation. But I think I could make a good 10th Doc minifig with the parts I have, so maybe I can find a way to sneak him in.
  21. Coldwell's adventures with the octopus have been chronicled before, although it's been awhile.
  22. Fun on the Runway (Part 6): http://www.drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=643742
  23. I also do what you do, Batbrick, and put myself in the mindset of characters very different from myself (like Valkyrie, for example). But it's inevitable for me that some of the characters will derive from aspects of myself. As for keeping track of the characters, that's probably why I stopped introducing so many and have been focusing on developing the ones I have. Brad, that museum sounds awesome, although I'm sad that you had never seen a Classic Space set in person beforehand. I definitely suggest tracking down a few sets on Bricklink or eBay. While the sets are simpler than today's due to a smaller selection of parts, there's a certain joy in their quaintness. A lot of imagination went into designing them, too. You know, sometimes I'm reminded that I started this comic to breathe life into 30-year old Lego sets that never really had a backstory and, I felt, deserved the spotlight. The comic has become more than that, I feel, as I've developed a story and characters that are my own and have become the focus. But I'm glad if the comic still achieves its initial purpose, helping people to appreciate some great old toys. However, the nature of the comic is a constant conflict for me. I would like to do more with the characters and the story, as those are my own creations. But they're tied to something that's not mine, the Lego sets and designs, so it hampers what I can do. Yet, people may never have read it if not for the fact that it was built with Lego. And the Lego plays into the mood of the whole thing, and helps me create the story I want because I can take photos of it instead of draw, which takes me a lot longer and produces a lot less. I really wish I could somehow make the comic more official, but haven't found a way yet. I have been writing prose fiction using my characters and stories, divorced from anything Lego-releated, and might try and do something separate with that, but the comic is still the main project. I kinda painted myself into a corner.
  24. Amarillo probably acts like he's 55, but he's the same age as Schwartz and Galanos, just more highly achieved. I've never actually stated an age range for any of them, although I'd say they are somewhere in their mid-twenties to early thirties.
  25. Fun on the Runway (Part 5): http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=642951 Thanks, Ben! Date Night will be back by year's end. Creatively, I have a couple other short storylines I want to present first. Favorite characters to write? Schwartz and Ronald, because their bad behavior is fun to create. I enjoy writing for Galanos, too, although he'd kind of the opposite. He and the other two speak most directly from the different aspects of my own personality. I'm usually very happy with how Scouse turns out, because he's very stream of consciousness, but he's difficult to write. Valkyrie feels like a three-dimensional character to me, so I like writing her a lot, too.
