  1. I'm so bummed the minifigures are going to seemingly be hard to get.
  2. General, you'll see what the change is, although one result of Ronald's second trip has been stated already. It's there in a previous comic in this storyline, but it's subtle. Sonic, I've never really settled on how far in the future it is, and have only been vague about it, mainly because fictional depictions of the future are usually too optimistic. I'd say a couple hundred years or so. As to why 20th and 21st pop culture is still prevalent, that's mainly because I find it amusing to include it (kind of like Futurama does).

  6. Wow, Batbrick, you weren't kidding about reviewing each comic! It really helps to see what works and what doesn't work as well, and I thank you. As for the story moving slow, I'm not sure if you mean just with the last installment or going back a number of strips. The days between updates has always been a challenge for me when it comes to telling longer stories. They can seem to drag out, which I imagine wouldn't be as much of an issue if the same story was being told in daily strips. When I realized "Lunch Time" was going to be longer than I originally planned, I began posting comics three times a week, and that's a practice I would like to continue going forward. But it does make it harder to do longer comic pages. The last comic, for example, was a conversation I had wanted to include, but it was too much to have it at the beginning of the next comic, so I separated it, and that helped me post a comic on a night on which I didn't have a lot of time to complete a longer page. There are times I post a comic that is more comic strip-like (shorter, more self-contained), but I suppose that can mess with the pace when within a longer story. In fact, I'm going to post a couple of "deleted scenes" at the end that I took photos for and wanted to include, but they interfered with the pace too much. As for the much delayed "Date Night," I can actually give you a date now for when it will resume since everything before then is set in stone: Feb. 8, which is a day short of the comic's second anniversary. And you know I like continuity porn, so there will actually be an in-story explanation as to why it's taken so long to show the rest of "Date Night."

  8. It's more metaphorical in that instance, but could be literal, too. :-)

  10. Lunch Time (Part 11) is up. Also, a Blacktron article! http://drunkduck.com/Lego_Space/index.php?p=657439

  13. Batbrick, great to have you back! I was afraid you finally got sick of the comic. Hope you did well fishing. General, that was just someone working for Alanis in the studio. While I rarely state what year the comic takes place, it's meant to be quite a ways in the future. Many of our pop culture references just happen to still be relevant. Anyway, a new comic will be up late Sunday night/early Monday. I'm going to take a shot at a M/W/F schedule, but we'll see how it goes.

  17. hehehe... By the way, zero, I looked back at the first page of this thread and was reminded that you've been reading and commenting consistently since Day 1. Just wanted to say I greatly appreciate it!
  18. I've always been intrigued by the back-of-the-box models from Classic Space sets, as many of the designs are really cool. Seeing some of them brought to life by other AFOLs was awesome. But I never bothered, because it is very difficult without instructions. I've always wanted to build the Giant Space Chicken (or dragon, perhaps) that is an alternate model of the Cosmic Fleet Voyager (6985), but haven't tried. I am slowly building the DACTA Futuron set based on pictures, which isn't easy because it never had instructions! I really wish TLG would go back to including alternate designs on boxes. The practice had its charm.
  19. Yay for Lego Doctor Who villains!

  21. Just some random silliness.
  22. I'm pretty sure I've got enough story for five years. Two of those years are already done, so it seems a fair estimate. :)

    Hangar Bay

Fantastic detail. I love it, especially the waiting area.
  25. I'm not so sure I'll bother with those two new ships, but I would like to see more detailed images first. But that base... I can tell just from that blurry pic that it is a must-have. I love the idea of the central storage space for the prison pods. Oh man, between this and those minifig collections, this is gonna be an expensive Lego year.
