My 30 year old TFOL LEGO recovered
LEGO Family replied to LEGO Family's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh my god ... just saw how many posts this topic have gotten. Dont know where to begin. To start with, sorry if i dont get to answer you all. :) First of. Auch, i would have cried if my LEGO was gone. And yeah, i noticed the grey part .... That was what i had to do with, so the poor fig shouldnt get "shot" barehanded. :P I can only hope that i will find the rest of the instructions. But i feel blessed that at least i found some of them. Sorry for your lose though mate :( We have just begun cleaning all the "sets" today. Reason that we didnt do that yet was because i wouldnt by accident put any stickers to wash. To save as many decals and stickers as possible was a high priority .... And i must admit, all the pictures above look somewhat lovely, but the bricks turns out even fresher now after having been washed and left for drying. Oh yes all those retro space sets are awesome, to me even the smallest of the sets. Brings back so many memories. The snackbar did exactly the same to me. I had forgotten all about it. When i saw the instruction for it it brought back sweet memories. :D Indeed i knew that a lot of the sets are worth a lot of money, but those money aint worth the memories they bring back to me. And the special pieces are very valuable also. I have tons of plans for what a lot of them can be used for in MOCs to come. Thanks for the reply. :) Thanks for the comment. :) Indeed i will save every brick of my childhood collection. Nothing is gonna be sold as written above. :) And to answer your question about the figs. Nothing have been glued, thats probably why i cant find the keychain for them :P It would have been a mess for me if i had saved the boxes also due to the flood. :P Then again, i would have loved to have had all the boxes also. But im pretty sure that i as a kid, tared them apart totally craving to build every set :D :D Cant wait to se what you find of treaures there dude. :) Hehe ... It actually felt something like finding the holy grail. My heart stopped for several seconds. And indeed i so hope that the rest of the instructions and LEGO will pop up soonish so we can build the rest of the sets. Would be awesome !! :D -
Oh thats what you meant ... LOL ... Then we both failed to recognise ... No, its not a Doctor Who MOC, but that exact chapter ( silence in the library ) was what we went for to start with, making those double shadows. But it turned into this instead. Thanks for liking "the spooky effect" ... Definately what we aimed for .. :)

It could be fun having my sons review the sets. I will se if i can take some time to do that with them now and then. I just putted it here in special, since it aint custom build. So i honestly had no clue where to put it .. lol Whereever you decide to put it is fine with me. I just wanted to share all these old sets with you all. :) -
We tried a lot of things. If i still had that MOC around i would try some of your tips. Thanks though. They will come in handy some other time im sure :) I have to look up Vashta Nerada, since ive never heard of it. :P Thanks for the nice comment though :)

I tried that cause i felt the same way. Not a good idea it hurted a lot. :P Thanks though. :)

Thanks a lot. And yeah .. I could imagine getting tired of all these "weird" builds when one have no clue what its all about. You should find a few episodes and get up to date. Its an awesome series. ;) Thanks a lot . :)

So we have had some delays on our Starcraft 2 battlefield build. Fortunately for once one delay of the good kind. I recently rediscovered my 30 year old TFOL LEGO. That made me freak out like a little kid. Unfortunately when i lifted the box, it fell apart. Literally the buttom turned into dust. I knew then that all stickers and decals were ruined. A flood had been in town a year ago. But i didnt think that the water had reached into that cellar. I also thought that all the instructions were in that box, so i was close to crying. ( Again literally ). :p To my luck i found the instructions in a totally diffrent place. I have at some point divided the instructions and LEGO, so there is still a lot missing. Both instructions and LEGO. I sat with the kids all weekend ( and several more days) building all the sets we could. A brick is missing here and there. I didnt want to cheat and take LEGO from our "new" collection. Enough talk. Here is all the sets we were able to put together: This is "the left over" LEGO, and a lot of instructions also that we didnt find the pieces for. When i find the rest of my LEGO and instructions. That will be builded also. I know this is not custom. But it made me all nostalgic, so i thought i would share it with you all. Tell all you TFOLs out there to put your manuals away to keep them in safe condition. Since i havent touched that LEGO for 28 years, having had my dark age, im really surprised that its in that good condition. Take good care of your LEGO. One year ago i would have laughed if some oracle told me i would be playing with LEGO again. And look at me now. Anyway hope you enjoyed this little trip down memorylane. :)

Thanks :) I was amased when i took the pictures to the computer, we just recently started to play around with light and forced perspective. So this was way better than what we had hoped for.
-
Thanks a lot ..... The outcome of the whole of the build is great i also think. .. Still it annoys me that i couldnt make the "double shadow" that we went for in the beginning. Glad you found it creepy also ;)
-

Im really glad with the outcome also, so its offcourse nice that others also likes it . :) Thanks, glad to know others are fans of Doctor Who in here ... I really love that show and cant wait for season 7 to start off . :P Thanks :) You should really try to se the show ( If possible start from season 1 - 2005, that will imo be the way to do it. :) I love our train and the outcome with the background also ... This was sort of a teaser for our Doctor Who comic. Though we never told anyone. I decided to put this in The Town section of Eurobrick also due to the fact that its just a few buildings. What drove Susan out onto her balcony. She is normally very shy. The guys from Bad Wolf Sales usually winks at her when shes out there. So she prefers to stay inside behind her black curtains. She had turned on her telly to look at the news, they said somthing about an accident had occured at CERN. Thats when she heard some loud noises and felt the earth tremble and shake. The Doctor Who Comic can be found here: Chapter 1 - Earth as we know it. Now leave a comment please. :)

I was not sure if i should have puttes this in the Sci-fi section. However being a MOC made for an 11th Doctor Who contest, i still decided to put it here in the town section. The Contest itself could be anything from the Doctor Who series, as long as it was from season 5-6. We made some four entrances for the contest ( Which we won by the way being the only one who actually made anything for it since it ran while the MOCathalon was going on). This entrance is from Season 6 episode 13 - The wedding of river song, as they enter into Area 52 in a train. We love this microscale both cause of the build, but also cause of the lightning we have accomplished using that background. Hope you like it also. Leave a comment please. Thanks in advance :)

Lovely ! .... However i think his shirt should be purple ( My own oppinion on that is that ive mostly seen him in darker colours ) .... Im making decals myself these days of the 11th Doctor and companion. They are looking alot alike i must say ... But a great job ... Cant wait to se it finished ... Are you using waterslide paper for it when it comes to printing it ?

We have been making a LEGO Doctor Who comic over the last couple of months. Since we are new here on Eurobricks you have probably missed out on them. I have posted the two first installments today, and will post two more over the weekend. You can find them here: Chapter 1 - Earth as we know it. Chapter 2 - As we cease to exist. Hope you will like it, and please give us feedback on what you like and dislike since we really want this to evolve. Its such fun making. Thanks in advance. :) -

The next two installments will be posted over the weekend as i need to resize pictures and other stuff. ( As well as i need to resize some of the pictures in the first chapter to fit properly according to rules in here). We are still new here .. We learn. Hope you like it and please leave a comment. Chapter 3 can be found here: Echoes of the universe - Doctor Who the comic - Chapter 3 Chapter 4 can be found here: Tulips and roses - Doctor Who the comic - Chapter 4 Now leave a comment please and tell as what you like and dislike. Thanks in advance. :)

This is our LEGO Doctor Who comic. So far there is 4 installments. I will post the first two of them today, and the other two during the weekend. A few notes on this chapter: I myself is 38 years of age and have two kids the ages 8 and 13. All of us are big fans of Doctor Who and decided to start making a comic. This first installment we really had no idea of how to pull it off, but have learned a lot from other persons who have been making LEGO comics since. So bare in mind while reading this intro that it will only get better "picture wise" .... This was our "pilot" and its such fun to make. Hope you will like it :) Chapter 2 can be found here: Doctor Who the comic - Chapter 2 - As we cease to exist. Chapter 3 can be found here: Echoes of the universe - Doctor Who the comic - Chapter 3 Chapter 4 can be found here: Tulips and roses - Doctor Who the comic - Chapter 4 EDIT: I know there is some problems with image sizes here, i will get that fixed later ( Should be ok now ). Chapter 2 should be ok also. We know all about the lot of spelling errors in the comic, we are from Denmark so that should excuse us . :P Now please leave a comment and tell us what you like and dislike. All feedback is very important to us since we really wants this to evolve. Thanks in advance. :)

Woow ... That second one from the right is beautifull ... That flame colourscheme is just awesome .. Well done. :)
-
Thanks. :) Hehe ... We do have both The Doctor and Companion ready also .... I was gonna post a lot more pics, but since i didnt knew if it was in the right forum, i awaited. Later today i will post the figs we have now ( Those we are using for our comic). But we are working on Decals for the CUUSOO project, so it will change. I will also post pictures of the TARDIS itself, and more pictures of the console room. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though, much appreciated. :)

Yeah, ive seen that video. Its very well done ... If we had enough hours to go through with it, it would be fun to make our own stopmotion video. But for now we have no intention to since we have never done it before. We do have the hardware to pull it off. But a field this size and with around 20 units for each race it would be a huge task. Thanks for the comment though. :) Hehe ... Yeah the map is our own idea. Would be boring, imo, to just copy a map from SC2. It is ambitious, and the biggest build we have ever done. If we run out of bricks, we will order more ( If the wife allows offcourse .. ;) .. ) For now we have a 200$ BL order incoming, and still a lot of bricks to build with. And we sort of know how we want it to look in the end ( Preparations is everything when building BIG ). We have all Terran units ready except for a siege tank. I know how to build it, but is awaiting the bricks to do so. We wont be making every unit available for the diffrent races, but some 4-8 diffrent kinds and some total of 20-25 for each race. Besides the structures already shown for the Terran, we also have the Starport ( you can se it on one of the top pictures in its design phase ) and supply depots ready. So on sunday or so, we will introduce the whole range of the Terran forces to this WIP section. Thanks for the comment, and for sharing your thoughts on this. Much appreciated. :)
