Heroica RPG - Quest 32: The Lost Children
Myrddyn replied to Rumble Strike's topic in The Heroica Archive
Fair enough. I was just trying to avoid a fight, although I'm not surprised I can't. -

Erik prepares to swing his axe at the unicorn from the front row, but first he says "Hello Mrs Peggy, why are you attacking us?" -
They all look very pretty. but I agree with JackJonespaw about Frodo not being quite fat enough, but mainly at the bottom of his torso, just above where his legs join on.

Heroica RPG - Quest 32: The Lost Children

Erik says: "I have a few ideas: 1. I don't think we should stay in the open, because without a ranger or mage this winged creature could swoop down and pick us off one at a time while we couldn't do anything. In a room its movement would be restricted, and it would be easier to fight. 2. I think the door nearest the steps on the right in the room we came from may have been a store room as the brown path leading to it is smaller. 3. I think there may be a child somewhere in this keep, but perhaps not all the children. Do we want to have the children with us if we are going to have to face danger? Maybe we should remove any potential threats in the building before we worry about the children, as this 'sanctuary' is apparently 'safe', unless it is only safe for this 'Maginastra'. Erik calls out: "Mr Maginastra, can you hear me? Why have you taken the children?" Sorry for doing too much at once before. -

"Well, the suit of armour spoke to us - it told us to leave. Didn't you hear it? And, of course, the mansion appeared overnight. Sure, maybe their is someone inside the suit of armour, and maybe the mansion was built by an army of people who were somehow able to transport all the materials here and assemble them into this building in a night and grow the plants on the wall, also in a night. Maybe the statue won't answer me. Or maybe their is some kind of strange technology or magic going on here." Erik is silent for a moment, then says: "I hope the building stays here. If it appeared magically overnight for the children to come into, maybe it will go somewhere else magically now the children are inside." He goes over and drags the table next to the door on the left to wedge the door leading outside open, before inspecting the round thing on the wall between the doors on the right. -

With Drake talking to the suit of armour, Erik turns to the lion head carving on the wall and tries talking to it. OOC: Im from australia and we spell armour the same way. -

OOC: Sorry, couldn't find the quest topic. Stats look good. IC:Erik walks over to the suit of armour and says "I agree with Mr Sorrow. Why should we leave? Can we have more information? He then turns to Drake and calls "Hey, do you think your diplomacy skills would be any help here?" The edit was just fixing grammar and bolding -
Apologies, I should not have posted here but I didn't realise I was on a quest

"I have no problem with either of you buying drinks if you want to, but I thought they were free... (muttered) I might owe Scheherazade a small fortune if I was supposed to be paying for them."
-
"Calm down, everybody! Mister flamerobe, I'm sure that good knight-with-a-crossbow there simply meant "Of course you did, of course" because if you hadn't made it out alive, you wouldn't be here. Also, he's bigger than you. And, crossbows are dangerous, and that slight purple hue it has gives me the impression that it is somehow even more dangerous than a normal crossbow." "And you there, Mister slightly-sneaky-looking-man-with-a-big-knife, I don't know what history you have with Mister flamerobe, but if you want to bring it to blows, I encourage you to take it to the arena, or at least give me a warning so I can hide somewhere to avoid becoming collateral damage." Said Erik, checking he had a clear path to the window in case of trouble.
-
"Well, more risky than just leaving him there?" Or are you waiting for Mr Endgame to comment so we know I'm not stuffing up his story or something? Sorry, I'm new at this.
-
"Hey miss? You could try a blast from your Topaz. Topaz is lightning right? Might help."
-
Erik sees a cloaked figure in a state of distress, and overhears him say his name is 'Sorrow'. When he sees him collapse he figures the two people nearby probably have the situation under control, but as one appears drunk he comes running over just in case. He bends down and asks "Hey mister, what's wrong?" When he hears Sorrow say 'Heart attack', Erik turns to the Elven lady nearby who Sorrow was talking to, and says: "I have heard about heart attacks. I'm no cleric, but I hear a bolt of lightning or a blast from a topaz can help sometimes. It might be worth a shot, literally as well as metaphorically, unless you have any better ideas?"

Erik salutes Mizuki once she has gotten up, then goes to get a drink. Thank you also Mr K-nut! Although I think that a barbarian critical hit is 3 times wp plus level, so I should have done 10 damage in the first round, then the shield does only 2 times wp. Doesnt matter though.
-
Erik swings his axe again from the front row, and grunts again. OOC: Glad your enjoying it!
-
Erik turns to Mizuki "Sounds good to me, some combat experience would be good before i go on a quest (ooc: not that I get actual experience from arena duels anyway, but keeping it in character), unless the arena masters feel that new heroes fighting each other would be innapropriate use of the arena. I more wanted to fight Mr Atramor for the amusement value, but I accept your challenge, Mizuki. If the duel does take place, I will attack Mizuki from the Front Row with my Axe
-
Erik emerges from the arena, secretly greatly relieved that Mr Atramor did not take him up on his offer of a duel.
-
Erik Tyrvarr leaps down into the arena pit, landing on his face and moaning. He quickly recovers, however, and yells "Since everyone is challenging Mr Atramor, I will do the same! Even though just his poison will knock me out in one hit, and it would take at least seven hits for me to knock him out..." "So any way, I,Erik Tyrvarr (Myrddyn), would like to challenge Atramor Gibbin (CallMePieOrDie), to a duel! Although if Mr Atramor does not want to waste time battering me unconsious or noone wants to waste time judging, that is also perfectly understandable."

Erik says to Mizuki and Drake "I think I will forfeit this contest, I can hear an interesting conversation over there" and gestures towards De'kra. Then he staggers over to De'kra, passing the bar on the way and grabbing some water, and says "The main advantage of a system using coins is that if you are a farmer or something, and sell crops that are only edible during say, 3 months a year, you can sell them during those 3 months, and then use the money later to buy things when you don't have crops to exchange. Also, if you sell large items that would be difficult to transport long distances, people can come to you to buy your goods so you don't need to transport them, and then you can bring the coins to someone else in exchange for whatever you want to buy, rather than having to transport a large, heavy item over a long distance to exchange for something."
-
Erik crosses over to Drake and Mizuki. "Mind if I join in the drinking contest? How does this work, do we just drink until we pass out, or are there some rules? I heard about an old drinking game they used to play here from Scheherazade (OOC: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58807&st=150&p=1050208entry1050208 ) Then he turns to Drake: "Sorry I missed your challenge in the arena. I was around, just not doing much except eavesdropping on peoples conversations." Then he crosses to the bar, grabs a large bottle of strong absinthe and a lot of water, returns to the table, drinks the water, removes his brain in preparation for the absinthe and slowly begins to sip from the absinthe. OOC: We dont really need a judge, because we can just go back and check the posts. I edited this bit in in response to post #3922, because I didn't want to add a reply that was all ooc.

Erik realises his name under quest 31 has somehow smudged off, so he re-writes it again. Erik signs up for Quest 31: Lions and Lambs I did sign up on page 251, but its not on the list of heroes signed up on page 254. Apologies if this is for a reason, but I thought I should check.
-
Erik signs up for Quest #31: Lions and Lambs and wanders over to the bar to take advantage of the free drinks.

Erik was sitting in a hammock hanging outside the window, looking through his pockets and wishing, without much hope, to find something new, when he was surprised to find an object he had overlooked many times before as just a scrap of parchment had a message from his deceased parents. He un-scrunched it and read: "Dear son, I have someone in Eubric Freeport who owes me a favor keeping an eye on you. Or, I should have said, did owe me a favor, as if your reading this I have probably died. When he feels that you have overcome your desire to jump out windows and flee at the first sign of trouble, he will have a letter sent to you to tell you more about your heritage." Erik pondered this for a moment, then decided that the best way to prove his bravery was to go on many quests. He climbed back in the window and signed up for Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan. Signed up for: Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan OOC: i have signed up for 2 quests that sign-ups close for on the same day - sorry if this gets confusing for Zepher and JimButcher

Erik climbs in the window before crossing over to the quest board and signing his name under quest 29. Erik Tyrvarr signs up for quest 29: Journey to Dastan
