Heroica RPG - Quest 32: The Lost Children
Myrddyn replied to Rumble Strike's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Perhaps. But currently, both you, (Sorrow) and Drake are targeting Creeper A. Perhaps one of you should change target, although it may be unnecessary as Hlin can't quite die, even with bad luck, however he would be in no shape to continue fighting." -

"There's lots of them, Drake. We need to each target a different one, so they can't run around unhindered causing mischief." "And Nagure, even though he may think he's right, we should still get the children back to their parents." -

"You could be correct, but currently it appears to me that the chances of him trying to save them from a real danger are outweighed by the chances of him being crazy." -

"Yes, but save them from what? And why not just tell their parents or Hlin about the danger?" OOC: That was at Nagure. -

"Well, I assume the Maginastra is in here somewhere, and there is at least one other floor. He could be up here. And yeah, I'd say he's some kind of mage. Just 'cos of the house that appears overnight, the statue and armour that talks, the weird doors, and the unicorn/pegasus and all that..." -

"This looks like it could get tricky. I hope we have better luck with this battle than we did with the snake. Oh well, I'll go for Creeper C, from the front row, and try out my new spear. And you could be right, Sorrow. Or perhaps the mansion came from the circled area? I did consider stealing it, but I've seen that map in the library anyway. I suppose we could just to annoy this Maginastra, though. " -
Do I read all the older quests? Well, I've read 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, and I'm currently reading 4. So, not all of them, about a third. But I plan on reading them all eventually. Do I not know about quests that are referenced by older heroes occasionally? Well, thats why I read the Wren quests.

"Nagure, hold onto that torch for now, if you really don't want it toss it to me, or Sorrow can distribute it. Whatever, lets go through a door! I don't mind which one." OOC: I think Rumblestrike means the torch is just there to look pretty. Anyway, we seem to have time between entering a realm and being attacked, so we can always switch weapons before the guardian appears depending on whether we need it or not. Don't leave it behind though, WP 1 means its worth 5 gold! -

Erik whispers back to Sorrow "Well, maybe Drake then. He does the least damage, and he can still take hits on his shield while he carries the torch." He then says more loudly "Don't worry about not being able to pick the lock. You did better at it than I could have done. Maybe we will find a key through one of the doors. Speaking of which, I agree about not wasting more time here. Mizuki suggested first door on the left earlier, and I don't have any better ideas." Erik starts walking towards the first door on the left (but doesn't go through (we need to chose who carries that torch)). Can Drake still target enemies while holding a torch, and potentially roll a sentinel even if he doesn't do any damage when he rolls hits and critical hits? And Endgame, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62261&st=195 - post #199 is why I thought Hlin should hold it. -

Erik grabs the torch, unless Drake has already, and gives it to Hlin to hold. He turns to the party, and says "I don't mind which door we go through, but I think we need the torch, and because Hlin doesn't fight, he should hold it. And these maps possibly mean this mansion magically came herefrom Miranda." Yes, I did read quest 13. "Well, I cant open a lock. Maybe I could hit it, but that could damage whatever is inside, so I will save that for a last resort. We have 2 rogues though, so could either of you guys try to pick the lock?" Erik crosses over to the table. "What's that there, Mizuki? Pot of coins, eh? Well, lets give them to Sorrow to distribute. He is party leader, after all. Torch could be handy in case one of these magic doors is dark, though they have been bright so far. Anyone want to carry it just in case?" Erik hands the coins to Sorrow to distribute, before looking more closely at the maps. "If it turns out we shouldn't have taken this stuff, we can always put it back later." Suddenly, he turns around. "Oh, knew I was missing something. Hlin, can you carry the torch?" Then he goes back to looking at the maps. Hlins a goddess: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hl%C3%ADn -

Erik remembers the words of the suit of armour: "This is sanctuary. It is safe." So he figures he might be able to use his natural respite trait to rest and regain health. He also says "I don't mind whether we try the warping door again, or go up the stairs. OOC: Yeah its the Black Knight. -

Erik staggers backwards after being hit. "AARGH! You killed me, you stupid worm!" He yells. Then, before him, he sees a robed figure. "Oh, hello, Mr reaper man" he says. The robed figure laughs, and says "You fool, I'm not the reaper." Erik opens his mouth, but before he can say anything, the robed figure interjects again, and says "and I'm not poor Mr Sorrow, either. I am the ghost of your ancestors. Here, have this book. read it when you have a moment." He throws a large book at Erik, who catches it, and puts it in his bag. "And by the way, you aren't dead. It's just a flesh wound." He disappears, leaving Erik standing facing the worm. The other heroes look at him, concerned at having seen him apparently talking to thin air. Erik just growls at Sandy and swings at her again, from the front row. OOC: Funny that Sorrow only hits when he isn't being controlled by Endgame. Also, shouldn't Drake's shield have protected him from 2 damage when Sandy hit him? I was going to leave that 'till later, but I was too impatient to wait 'till Erik was K'Oed. Got a Monty Python AND Terry Pratchett reference in their, in case anyone noticed. -

Does anyone play brickwars?
Myrddyn replied to Durins Bane's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I would love to play Brickwars, but I can't find anyone to play with. I have read the rules though, and decided that in a melee, assuming equal numbers of men on each side, the two-handed weapons are probably the best. Though as I have never had a chance to try this out this is all just theoretical. -

Erik calls back: "But the sandwights won't drop anything, and they disappear after sandy is defeated. This means there is no reason to kill them, so I think we should concentrate on Sandy. I was only attacking one to stop it getting free hits, and I feel that it would be a better idea for Drake to target a sandwight, and everyone else to attack Sandy. That way, only 1 sandwight will get a free hit (on Drake, who will barely feel it), and we will have all four of our heaviest hitters (because us barbarians have a stronger critical hit, and rouges who do the same damage as barbarians) targeting the main enemy (Sandy). But I will obey the party leader if he doesn't agree, and I will still target Sandwight B." -

Oh. I see, I completely missed that post! Sorry! Erik attacks sandwight b from the front row. "I suppose that means if there are still children missing after this room, we go up the stairs. Unless the warping door lets us somewhere else, if we have to do them in order." -
Heroica RPG - Quest 32: The Lost Children
Myrddyn replied to Rumble Strike's topic in The Heroica Archive
OOC: aargh, we keep choosing to go through doors when I'm not here! I wanna go through the door we haven't gone through yet, because the darker tiles leading to it are thinner, which leads me to believe its a storeroom, which means free loot. but hey, we will get to it eventually, and I'm probably over analysing. Also, love the "(only one child pictured, styles and designs may vary)" Erik turns to Captain Hlin Horrkkba and says "Do you know how many children are missing, and was one of the ones we found your daughter?" Then he turns to the children and says "You didn't see any one else in that keep, did you? Or hear about a 'Maginastra'? Also, watch out, in case something attacks us from under the ground. We are all experienced heroes,(LIE ) so if some monster comes out of the ground, we can handle it, but you guys could help by keeping out of the way. I don't doubt your bravery, but as this would be your first battle against a monster, you guys just watch for now and maybe find monsters to fight once we are out of this magic mansion if you want. Im sure Mr Horrkkba could teach you something about fighting." Finally he then turns to the rest of the group and says "Come on, guys, why were you all in such a hurry to rush off to here? There could have been more kids in the keep, asleep! Or loot. But now we are here, I agree with Mizuki. I reckon if we stay here we should be attacked by something, since we invaded the sanctuary, if this unpleasant place is a sanctuary. The lack of noise of children playing is disturbing, so I hope it is not some kind of place for punishing misbehavers. But if we do walk anywhere, I will drag the shaft of my axe in the ground so we can find our way out after we are finished here." -

Erik sees the pegasus' blood drip down his axe blade, and starts to lose himself in the battle, abandoning some of his previous concern about morals. However, he still regains enough control to call to Sorrow "Might be wise to hide in the back row hang Back a bit so you don't get knocked out. And I'd appreciate it if I loose control you could stop me before I kill this creature. Although it still looks dangerous, so I will continue to attack the pegasus from the front row with my axe." OOC: Thanks, I did read quest 13, though this quest is trying to help kidnapped children, so I don't currently think that this 'Maginastra' is a good/goodish guy. Just the unicorn. Maybe the armour and lion statue too. -

Quick explanation, Mr flamerobe. Because of your shield you will take the same damage from the front row as everyone will else from the back row. You also have more health than any of us. it will take 5 hits from Mrs Peggy to knock you out. You have two potions, so make that 13. With luck, by myself I could incapacitate Mrs Peggy in 3 hits. You are currently perfectly safe in the front row. Also, I don't think this is a good start to being good and honourable heroes. We have so far broken into a house, stolen those potions, and trespassed on a unicorns/pegasus territory, and now we are going to attack it because it has tried to stop us. I suggest we try to just incapacitate it rather than kill it, because unless this creature has personally kidnapped the children which I doubt we are the bad people here. -

Erik says to no-one in particular "I don't believe we can reason with this unicorn because we invaded the realm of sanctuary. We could perhaps try to get information of it about the children, but without anyone fluent in unicorn (ranger) i don't think it will understand us." speaking to no-one in particular because zakura spoke out of character.
