Erik glances at the minstrel. "Alright fine? She seemed keen to come at first." He mutters into his cup. He stands up to greet the hunter. "Well, we just got our sixth sign-up, but it's my first time signin' up for the fields, and I believe I've misunderstood how it works. So by all means, put your name on the list. "

Nessa+Karie Quest #62 for "most powerful relationship (romantic)"! (Also summer photoshoot)

I couldn't vote a dragoon for most optimised, because Jump Hit means you can't reliably take free hits. And Docken's build hasn't changed much since he won "most optimised" last year For Best Battle I put the taxidermy battle of #93, because it was super simple and still challenging, just because there were 21 enemies with different stats, plus all the enemies were reused from other places, so it had continuity with the rest of the gameworld. Most humorous moment was just #122. Antagonist NPC I'm thinking maybe I'll vote Thistlethorp.

"Could be I've mistaken how this works, actually." Erik peers at the sign-up sheet. "The Keeper of the Fields might pick a leader 'imself, but if he doesn't and no-one else wants to, sure, I could lead."
-
"I just mean if someone else wants to get out of the hall for a bit, we've got space for one more." "Fine with me." As Erik offers the warden a chair, he looks around for any objections from other party members, before scribbling down his and his companions' names. "Any volunteers or nominations for party leader?"Fields of Glory Party Sign Up Karie Alderflask, level 32.5 Minstrel Erik Tyrvarr, level 25 Battle Mage William Harkenshire, level 21.6Warden Warlen Melimane, level 18.5 Mystic Knight Siercon, level 18 Battle Mage Avalanche, level 13.5 Barbarian

"Ah thanks." Erik accepts the gold, raising his hands in mock surrender at hearing of his comrades dislike for the black knight. "Alright, I've never met 'im, I won't invite 'im along, then. This fellow's alright, I take it?" He asks, seeing Warlen greet Siercon. "Fine by me. Shame to have an empty space in the party, though. And like I said, I could retrain as a Shaman if we want a proper healer, but if we don't plan to spend long there anyway, better to cut through everything as fast as possible."
-
Erik frowns. "Think I might've lent you a few coins one time." He waves a hand dismissively, and stands up to offer the mystic knight a chair, before turning to Karie. "I could get the Fox to give me a refresher on shamanism, if you don't think Mr Warlen's healing staff and your music is enough. There's this "Avalanche" fellow on the list for the fields too, and I'm sure I saw a black knight with freaky wings around somewhere. Or we could see who's left behind when they pick heroes for #141."
-
"Thanks. Yeah, not since the academy. I saw Noel the other day, at the lottery. All those brat kids 'ave signed up with the Wolfgang, I hear." Erik says as he takes a seat. "They're in for a shock." He mutters, but brightens up on seeing the guitar. "You're a Minstrel now, 'ey? And you got a new hat. Looks good."

Erik Tyrvarr enters the hall after a few days away. The usual bulge of a book in his pack is absent. He crosses straight to the questboard and signs up for the Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory. "Blasted creatures." Looking around the room, he spots Karie, and not being well acquainted with anyone else in sight, sits down near the minstrel, with a polite nod to Quintessa.

Know what's OP? Z-mail. If the third or so noobiest Ziegfried has the magic power to let all of the heroes, plus a bunch of others, with three words, materialise a letter in front of anyone, anywhere in the world, I don't see what stops him materializing the letters inside their head. And I'm no brain surgeon, but I'm pretty sure even a dragon would be pretty messed up by a sheet of paper bisecting their brain.

Receiving a letter of recommendation in the lottery, Erik makes a list of the major factions. Hinkwells or Shadeaux? Lyren and Nuitan seemed alright, but the rest of those families were all rich snobs with no care for the common people. Don't think I've ever dealt with the Guild of Invision. I guess they make their potions available to anyone at reasonable prices, but the Crimson Crown... I don't trust them. Dunno anything about the Ji Pei, really. Wolfgang are thugs. Ziegfried are necromancers, and after what happened to Jules I want nothing to do with that. Bonapartes... Hmm, maybe if I impress them, I can get them to leave the Magpie alone. Erik uses his letter to get Bonaparte reputation. Thanks Sandy, sorry I didn't post what rep I wanted earlier, my internet's been out.

Erik signs his name, having made his way over from the bar to hear the Veteran's annual announcement.

Here's where a sub-party were all K/O'ed back on #96. In #100 it worked differently, because it was a completely different quest. Both options worked well, and I think it's up to the QM to determine what exactly happens. I think there might have even been a case where the whole party was K/O'ed without the quest failing, though I have no idea which quest it may have been. See Vindicator's roll of 4: "Shield Bash", and Kiray's Two Fanged Orcish Shield (Shield Bash Replaces Meditate)(Shield Bash does damage = SP and stuns the target)

Erik arrives back at the hall in time to see what can only be some kind of demon, standing on top of the burning wreck of a table. He grabs his axe, but the monster vanishes before he has a chance to act. The shaman cautiously extends his magic senses to discover the demon was banished by the young redhaired mage walking out the door. "Wow, Heroes these days. When I first joined up, there was hardly anyone capable of getting rid of a demon as easily as that. That looked like it was only a WP: 3 staff, yet she got rid of that thing as effortlessly as if she'd been the one to summon it." He mumbles, peering at the blackened table.

Quest 129: I said I'd have a quest analysis up yesterday, and I didn't, so I'm putting up what I've got, even though I don't really say anything here that hasn't been said. All the battles were great - especially the final battle. Lots of high level enemies, but we did win, so it can't have been too hard. The puzzles were all fun, except the letter puzzle - waiting for more letters and trying to solve it must have been the most stressful experience of my life. So it was very effective in giving a sense of urgency. The visions and storytelling and pictures were all fun and felt dramatic. Yeah there was a slow spot in the middle somewhere, but it wasn't major. NPCs: Yay Magpie, and I demand to see Giuliana and Volumniix make a future appearance. Paul, if he was the crimson crown fellow under the rubble, was a neat way to get the PCs to talk to each other for once - except we didn't. Yeah reading back through what Erik had, there was his bickering with Hoke, but nothing much. I had a lot of fun throughout the quest.

"Yeah, Jules knew his stuff. Look, if you need a mage, I can help out, at least until you find someone with more experience on ships. Otherwise, you know where to find us if you need help bashing heads." Erik glances out towards the spot where the Apocalypse had long since vanished, and chuckles, thinking it unlikely that the crew of the Magpie would find another enemy fearsome enough for them to need help any time soon. Thanks Pie Great quest! I'll post in the QM lounge tomorrow. And OOC I'd be fine with Erik taking indefinite leave if the Magpie does need a new ship's mage.

And the Tyrant Statue. Or hasn't Guts gotten hold of that yet?

"Might as well make sure those Sicarii won't trouble anyone else." Erik mutters, attacking Sicarii Squad C twice with the Titanic Axe.
-
Erik flinches as Em's shield intercepts a hit meant for the shaman, and after being plucked off the deck by Volmuniix, attacks Wight Cluster C with Titanic Axe, and then attacks Moon Elf Corpse Legion A with the Titanic Axe. (84x2x2 = 336 damage + 1/6 petrify chance to both, - 48 SP for the Moon Elves, I believe)
-
"Several wights have broken off from the main group. Come with me." Erik mutters to himself, attacking Wight Cluster C with Sleeper from the front row. He repeats if they aren't asleep after his first attack, otherwise he casts a Darkness spell at Melville from the back row through the Titanic Axe.
-
Erik should be down 3 ether from his shield roll in round 3, Melville and Volmuniix are down a bit of health - is that meant to be the case? I believe you forgot to add Sicarii Squad C to the Bow front, and Squad B should have been petrified and shattered? Do Jump Hits from Volmuniix take two actions as usual? I assume they don't count as targeting an enemy for the purpose of free hits? Can a hero on Volmuniix use an item on a hero still on the Apocalype? And does the Instant Items trait still work with an automatic Jump Hit? Having cut himself some breathing space, Erik lets the head of his axe fall to the floor, to rest his arms for a moment. The fingers of one hand tap the peacekeepers totem in some kind of rhythm as he grasps for words that might hurt the mad mage. Not enough for him to just die. I want 'im to die thinkin'- knowing he's useless. He thinks back to his vision of Jules, and calls out across the battlefield. "You're weak, old man. Even with that... thing's help, you couldn't maintain control of your own army. Even when you had Jules strapped to your table, his blood all over the place, you couldn't stop him from communicating with us through stone walls. You think YOU can impose order on the world? You're a failure. Should've hired some heroes." He spits in the old mans general direction, and hefts his Titanic Axe, swinging at Sicarii Squad A, twice from the front row.
-
Erik swings at Sicarii Squad A, twice from the Front row with the Titanic Axe.
-
Erik attacks the Sicarii from the front row with the Darkstar wand, and if he successfully re-hexes them he uses his second action to hit the Sicarii from the front row with the Titanic Axe, otherwise he repeats with the Darkstar Wand.
-
Yeah, I like it - has David Bowie vibes, I think, but maybe adding a sword or something would make it more fantasy-ish? Or maybe something in the background - a wall in a few different browns and greys, or her sheep or something? I mean, Gibbin doesn't look that fantasy-ish either, but he does have a sword, a cloak and a chicken.
-
Erik chuckles at Zasies' words, and joins her in attacking Undead Crimson Chemist Unit A, using a light spell channeled through the Darkstar Wand from the back row. If they're dead he casts at Undead Crimson Novice Legion A instead.
