  1. Ahhhhh, another MOC which uses "cluttering" to great effect to depicts the "strewn castaway" image very effectively. Only problem is the whites seem a bit over saturated and are blending into the background, a nice blue sky would provide contrast but of course adding one digitially it would be rather difficult to "cut around" the white objects to seperate them from the background. I've used a lot of "inverted commas" in this post, haven't I?
  2. Is that sarcasm ImperialShadows or have you seen one of those sell more for than $12? I believe I have. In fact, if I recall correctly I've seen one of these packs sell for over $20.
  3. Badger, your customs are brilliant! I've scheduled these images with a nice blurb to be frontpaged on Classic-Pirates.com within the next couple of days!
  4. That seems to be a common question LegoKing - this is SYSTEM Pirate LEGO, apparently one of the greatest LEGO themes of all time so naturally people will want to pay generously to acquire it.
  5. The best Creative Critics will provide ongoing feedback, so it's not necessarily a critique once and then wait until contest's end to receive your result. Find ways to continually provide feedback and you'll have a definite advantage. Since you've requested that your earlier feedback be taken into consideration we shall! We will extend this offer to everyone, HOWEVER, if a critic's feedback has been brief or less than helpful then it's perhaps wiser not to make that request because it may hurt their chances. In your case Zorro I think it's a very intuitive move because you've been a standout critic!
  6. Simple yet effective! Replace the titles with studded bricks and you'd almost have something that looked like a set. It kind of reminds me of 1889 Pirates Treasure Hold.
  7. Dear Duck you've certainly come to the right place! Check out our How to make sails Tutorial as that contains a collection of sail making ideas and tips.
  8. And there is no choice in the matter, Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! please refer to the following rule: Another recommendation is to severely cut down on the number of smileys you're using. A couple is fine, but using many smileys is usually an indication the author is not mature enough for Eurobricks. So bare that in mind next time you feel compelled to go overboard with the smileys.
  9. Creative Critic This is an entirely different aspect of the contest where the aim is to provide constructive feedback for the Pillage the Village entries. What is constructive feedback? This is where the writer evaluates what they like and dislike about a creation, and then relays the information objectively to the builder. The important point is to express honest opinions in a helpful manner, whether good or bad. If you can do that creatively at the same time, you just might have what it takes to win some fabulous prizes. Where does this happen? First, you need to express an interest in participating in this aspect of the contest by posting in this thread. After that, all you do is comment on the entries in their own threads and the staff will observe and judge the quality of your efforts. How will this be judged? The staff will assess the Creative Critic Award on the following criteria: The usefulness of the information provided. The professionalism in which the information is conveyed. Correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. (We will be lenient if English is your second language but for primary English speakers there are NO excuses!) The volume of quality creative criticism you provide. IMPORTANT!!! A high post count alone will not assist you in winning a Creative Critic award and excessive, short, or unhelpful posts may result in disqualification. If your idea of a good comment is: "That MOC looks awesome", you may find yourself in a spot of bother. You probably won't get a warning either. You don't have write about every single aspect of the MOC in one post, but it is recommended you focus upon something on interest and write a good paragraph about it. How do I enter? Again, all you need to do is express a desire to join by posting in this thread and then commenting on the entries in their own entry threads. From the moment you post here, any posts you make will be under evaluation so think carefully about what you say. When does it start? As soon as you post here! Are there prizes? Yes, check out the The biggest Prize Pool in AFOL fansite history? for more information. As always, the judge's decisions are final. Helpful Tip The best Creative Critics will provide ongoing feedback, so it's not necessarily a critique once and then wait until contest's end to receive your result. Find ways to continually provide feedback and you'll have a definite advantage. Do you have what it takes to be a Creative Critic?
  10. I've notice in Europe the prices for Pirate LEGO tend extremely low, particular in Germany and Belgium. So if you live in Europe you can feast on bargains we certainly don't see often in this part of the world.
  11. And the band begins to play! I had also envisioned an Imperial Guard marching band, but never a pirate band. Did anyone go to the "1993 LEGO World Expo - Pirates Ahoy" - there was a lifesized (I think) brickbuilt pirate band there.
  12. It's still very much a Work In Progress but it will certainly make it easier to collaborate upon updating the website. So expect continuous improvement and new features will appear as we create them. Exciting times indeed!
  13. That's quite an interesting sail system you've constructed Captain Cavinano, but lets see you construct it out of LEGO now
  14. Whatever happened to Red Bean anyway?
  15. A gallows and a very gruesome gibbet! That'll certainly teach other pirates not to pillage any villages in the near future. As noted that crow is particularly well designed for a brick bird which often look somewhat abstract given they're small and it's hard to get the details right.
  16. "Catarmaran" that is the appropriate noun for a two hulled vessel is it not? I believe the fact there are two hulls disclassifies this creation as a sloop.
  17. You ever considered going into the custom part selling business?
  18. Yes, I do... But you know as well as I do it's going to be far more than just a blog...
  19. A round of applause to the three creators because their efforts have been recognised on the frontpage of Classic-Pirates.com! It was my first news entry using our new system so it's a truly historic occassion indeed!
  20. Hippotam, that's a significant upgrade to the "volcano island" concept. Very interesting how you've built up the island out of slopes too and the minor details are superb - the "monkey trap" is hilarious!
  21. To my knowledge there aren't any resources dedicated to compiling customs from all sources. Obviously if you go to the BrickArms website you'll find an inventory of their stock but, it's only their stock.
  22. Yes, some pictures would be excellent! Showcase your wares!
  23. Quite an entertaining way to present the news - although slight typo with the "goory details" How long did it take you guys to create that?
  24. How are you going to create the database, CPT. Jr?
  25. You may laugh now but just wait till LDD has proper Imperial Guard torsos! Which most likley would be stickers...
