  1. No, it was also coated plastic.
  2. Hope you have a fabulous rest-of-birthday!
  3. It does work, but the head has to be lowered all the way.
  4. Thanks. Now, where's your picture?
  5. I do believe that this is my first topic here. Today, one of my old leaves (the ones with a round 1x1 with 3 leaves coming out) broke, and when I saw the leaf section at the base I thought "this looks just like a plume..." and sure enough, it fits! So if you need a green plume, here's something to consider. Thanks!
  6. Yes, I totally agree with that. It seems to fit in there for a change.
  7. Aha! That was probably because I was doing it in a hurry and was half asleep. Thanks for changing it Fangy.

    Car Talk

Hey everyone, here is the thread to talk about anything to do with cars. This is also the new home of the former "What's your dreamride" and "Show your car" threads. We'll call it Car Talk, just don't get it confused with Click and Clack. Enjoy!
  9. SeaKing, a long as you have a complete set you're fine. Instruction pictures are nice, but certainly not necessary. I hope to see you in the Academy soon!
  10. Fun idea! Let me try to remember... 1: Strawberry Teacher (Because of my name and becoming an Academy teacher. I'm not sure who gave it to me, one of the teachers. ) 2: Strawberry Mathmatics Teacher (I thought I was losing posts. Sinner, I mean Siegfried, gave me that one.) 3: Pirate of the week Teacher (For being pirate of the week in the Shipyard. From Zorro I think.) 4: Blacklisted Strawberry Ice (From KimT, because I wanted to change my Star Wars tag to my silver trophy tag.) I think that's all correct.
  11. Piece count added.
  12. Yeah I know. I wanted to give the sense of a dual review, without having it actually be that. I love the dog as well, it was a nice surprise to see how well-designed it was. Where did I say 4399? And the poll looks just fine. You just have to pay close attention. EDIT: Piece count added.
  13. While in Germany, I stopped by Galeria Kaufhof in Munich, and to my surprise they had many of the Summer sets. As much as I would have liked to get some of the larger sets, they were a bit too big for my backpack, so I had to settle for the new Space Police impulses. Which isn't too bad. So now, let's join our space police man and his robotic flick-firing friend! 8399 K-9 Bot Set Name: 8399 K-9 Bot Theme: Space Police 3 Released: Summer 2009 Pieces: 21 Minifigs: 1 Price: EUR: 2.99 / USD: 3.50 / GBP: ??? Now that we have all of that done, onwards to the set! The Box The box shows our policeman ready for action with his robo-dog, with a city in a bubble in the background. On top is a picture of the minifig. Instructions Nothing new here. Parts For an impulse set, this one has some nice parts. The trans-red cheese slopes are always good, and the selection of white droid torsos and exo force arms is nice as well. Minifig And here's the brand new Space Police minifig. We've been getting a lot of nice new prints on minifigs lately, and this one is no exception. Both the legs and back are printed with unique designs which add so much. The torso seems to have some sort of body armor and the policeman also has a black air tank on his back. I think that the gun is a little weak. It doesn't strike me as a gun so much, more like a flashlight. 2 things that I don't like about the police figs: 1) Compared to the alien side and the minifigs in a lot of other new sets, the police minifigs all have pretty boring heads. Nothing new. 2) The choice of helmet is a bit odd. I would think the the helmet should be enclosed at the bottom as well. Other than that though, an excellent minifigure. Backside with air tank. The nice printing on the back. Robo-Dog Here we have the policeman's faithful companion. I must say, this was designed very very well. The droid torsos attach to the technic beam, and then Exo-Force arms are added. The finished product looks very cool. Even though I never like flick-fire missiles, at least this one fits in relatively well and doesn't seem totally out of place. In my opinion, this extra is much better than the one for the other SP impulse Don't move a muscle, or you'll be "Flick Fired"! Ratings: PROS: - A great minifig. - The dog is very well-designed. - Good way to try out SP to see if you like it. CONS: - Helmet could be enclosed. Takedown, Bikini Bottom style! This is definitely a set worth picking up, because of the great minifigure and the fun robo-dog. It's also a good way to test out the Space Police wtaers to see if it's something that you'd like. I certainly do like it. Thanks, and happy building!
  14. Let's proceed to our main point, the man with the many eyes. 8400 Space Speeder Set Name: 8400 Space Speeder Theme: Space Police 3 Released: Summer 2009 Pieces: 14 Minifigs: 1 Price: EUR: 2.99 / USD: 3.50 / GBP: ??? Now, to the pictures! The Box On the box is a picture of our alien friend on his adorable space scooter. In the background a city in a bubble is visible, which is a fun touch. The top side shows a to scale image of the minifigure. Instructions Nothing out of the ordinary here, just the usual folding sheet typical for impulse sets. Pieces Besides the lovely black spyglass, the parts are pretty basic. Minifigure Now for the main draw of the set, the new alien known as "Snake". He's a really nice minifig, full of detail. Back printing, printed legs and everything about the minifig is new. One of my favorite parts is the large skull belt buckle, which adds a lot. The only thing that's bad about it is that it continues on to the torso as well, so if you don't use those legs the torso looks like a mushroom is growing out of it. Space Police 3 has certainly the most interesting minifigs of any LEGO theme in history. We've never seen such odd creatures, even in Star Wars. The helmet is beautiful, it's actually quite large and has some nasty looking spikes on top. He could just as well be called Hedgehog, but that probably would lead to teasing by the oher aliens at the playground.... While we're on that matter, I honestly don't know why he's called Snake. He has the eyes of a spider and the helmet reminds me of a hedgehog... Anyway, let's carry on and forget this classification business. Some great back printing. TLG has certainly upped their minifigs in all themes with back and leg prints. The helmet is very long. One of the more interesting LEGO headpieces I've seen. A close up of the face. One of the weirdest heads ever. Eyelashes on the cheeks, 7 eyes and no bottom jaw, but then again, he is an alien. The Speeder Comes In Now for the vehicle. While I love the front part with the awesome spyglass gun, the rest of it feels very mediocre. It's just too random with the colors, and it doesn't have any nice designs. It could have been quite nice with a few adjustments. I think this part looks far too basic. The plate with prongs doesn't really fit in too well in my opinion although it helps the craft to balance. My least favorite section. The flame just looks weird coming out of the blue pin. Simply adding a little cone there would have made this so much better looking. That being said, I still think this is not too bad. The minifig is simply stunning. Here's a little journey through the life of Snake..... The Beginning... At first, Snake's life ambition was to become a chef. Unfortunately, due to his scary complexion, he had trouble keeping customers. The grief that came with failing at a life as a chef is what brought Snake into a life of crime.... After joining the Space Baddies Gang, he was given his first job. Because of his many eyes, he made an excellent security camera for the Gang's base. He slowly made his way up the ranks, and now's he one of the Space Police's most wanted.... ============================================= PROS: - An outstanding minifig. - Good price. - A nice black telescope. CONS: - The vehicle is pretty mediocre. Spongebob likes hanging out with Snake when he's on vacation in space... Overall, this is a very nice impulse set. A wonderful minifig with tons of new and interesting things, all for a reasonable price. It's a great set to try and see if you are interested in the theme. A review of the other impulse set is coming soon. Thanks for reading and happy building!
  15. That's absolutely amazing! So many details, and accurate to the real thing down to the last brick. I actually like the yellow color. Not only does it look like the actual building, it also stands out from most buildings because of the color. I'm curious how you will go about transporting that huge MOC. One of the best MOCs I've seen.
  16. Great interview! I'm glad to see EB news back in action.
  17. I spotted the 2 SP impulses at Galeria Kaufhof in Munich, but none of the other sets were there. A review is forthcoming.
  18. Welcome back Stauder! I'll look forward to seeing the next hilarious installment.
  19. Thanks for the nice review! As a whole, I agree with your assessment of this set, while it has its flaws, I still think it's a fun set with some nice design and pieces. One thing I've noticed with all of the SP sets is the presence of way too many random things sticking out from everywhere. They make the sets look too cluttered for me. That being said, I'm sure kids will love the sets, and I'm sure I'll enjoy them as well.
  20. I'm glad I was able to get some from certain German EB and BrickHorizon members, seems like the U.S. got screwed for a change. It really is a great minifig, and I hope everyone that wants one will get one.
  21. I guess you haven't explored my profile much. I hope it's a compliment.... Here's a new one, picnic in the Alsace. Eclairs!
  22. Nice work SlyOwl! Your entry was really good. I'm pleased that I got 2nd, thanks for the votes everyone. But Zorro, I believe I'm still frozen last time I checked.
  23. Falling Water looks lovely. The colors are very nice, and the waterfall seems to be well designed. Certainly a step up from the last batch, but hopefully the price will be reasonable.
  24. I would maybe get these if they didn't look so feminine. I hate those huge white lenses! The bricks on the side would open up some cool possibilities though. But I frankly think LEGO shouldn't branch so far from the base of bricks.
  25. Happy birthday Christian! Hope you have a fantastic day.
