Wow great WIP's here in Kaliphlin! Your scene has so many details, Gabe, wonderfull. The carpet, the view outside of the window and the real Kaliphlin feel to it are great! And scubacarrot, your wall is very nice, I really love the brick work and the colours, looking forward to see both mocs. -
I'm Blaze from Mitgardia and a decent active member, mostly by posting though, I only entered one free build and challenge 3 will be my first challenge Moc. I like the community and the members of GoH. Everyone is very helpfull and the comments/advice/tips etc are always great. The feedback from the Guild Leaders (or in this case Sirens, cause I have not had contact with any of the others) is also good, on multiple occasions he helped me out or did his best to hand out advice and inspiration. Some of the things I would approve are allready stated by other members (mini challenges for all the guilds would be nice! and the Inn idea I read somewhere, where you can talk in-character with the members would also be fun I guess). I think you guys are doing a great job and I hope this will continue for a long time and that members stay active, I know how hard it is to combine work/life/lego, but I hope everyone finds his/her good balance. edit: and maybe GoH would work in a different setting, maybe pirates or in the very far future, with mechs and spacefighters etc.

The brothers Haar and Valter flipped a coin and Valter (the right one) won. He gets to be the ambassador of the Elite Archer Squad of Mitgardia. (If I'm not to late to enter?) Elite archers by JBlaze1989, on Flickr And I would also suggest to just send a specific armor set or something. The winner should appreciate it and should be happy to recieve something in my opinion.

Some work in progress pics: Work in Progress by JBlaze1989, on Flickr Breezerock Cabin, where the party gets the quest to look for the Crystal of Air. The area is quickly thrown together, I dont have the bricks at the time to build the Crystal Chamber, where they meet Duramarth. Work in Progress by JBlaze1989, on Flickr Close up of Duramarth. Not the best picture but you get the idea. Tips, tricks, advice etc is much appreciated, thanks for looking! -
Nice! I really like a lot of things in this story. The minifigs are well chosen, the locations are cool (or hot) and original built. My favourite part though is the house of Ulaad, the roof and the walls are fantastic! Can't wait for the conclusion!

Yeah I was thinking of that and it may be the best way to achieve the mocs I was going for. I don't see a cool crystal chamber coming together with the leftover bricks I currently have at my disposal. BTW, I realized I don't own a trans clear crystal, like I should! Can I use an other one and just "imagine" it's the correct one, or use some round clear 1x1 stacked on top of each other or something. I am at the moment not in the position to put in a bricklink and I have no idea in which current set it is included... -
Very nice figs! Love the names and I was always into the christian lore with the angels and arch-angels (although there is only one named arch angel), so thats why I like the angels and arch angels most. Cant wait to see the entire building with the figs and story. I might even use your story of the city on the clouds in my background story, it really is appealing, if thats okay with you offcourse! I'll give you full credit offcourse.

Who of you guys is entering challenge 3? I am, I'm in a pretty far stadium of completing the mocs, but I made the small mistake that I built it in chronological order, so my brick collection is nearing depletion and I still have to build the crystal chamber. So thats a minor setback and I wasnt planning to take down some mocs so I'll have to go creative on the final part. -
Amazing! This really is amazing! So many details to be found, all the minifig-action, the choice of colours, everything! Some things I really like are: the fountain, the fading paint job on the left building, the water and the overall clean look. Very good job!

I like your minifigs. I dont know why, but they look great and well thought of. Also the window work is original and its always nice if a building is in a different angle. Cool you have made an interior as well.

Yes, it worked! A bit foolish of me, but I kept putting the BBCcode and html in tags. I had no idea that was unnecessary. Thanks Cap'n! And you too Balthasar, thanks both for the advice.

That looks great! One of my first ideas was also to incorporate a giant statue in the crystal tomb, but I couldn't get the design right, so I dismissed the idea, but this one looks great. -
Yes I tried that, I take the medium size 500x375 or 640x480, but then there is no share button and I cant copy the image location Im not a hero with computers etc but this doesn't really make any sense. Thanks for trying to help out btw!

Hundreds of years ago elves inhabited the lands of Mitgardia. Or at least, that is what the legends of old say. Thy were known as the Gloss'edhel, or snow elves in modern tongue. It is said that they were the great builders of lots of ancient capitals and great keeps. Until men came they lived in peace and secluded. But when men rose to power they surpressed the elves and made them into workers and even slaves and slowly exterminated them, untill one day, all of them just seemed to be dissapeared. But more on that will be told in my moc for challenge three, where the snow elves are an important factor in. This is used to introduce them and show their, well, kind of violent and strange nature. (sorry for the lousy quality, I didnt want to wait till I have my good camera back.) Sacrifice by JBlaze1989, on Flickr A dragon priest sacrificing one of the clerics. They do it to please the great God of Ice, called Duramarth. Or at least, that is what they say to the common folk. Sacrifice by JBlaze1989, on Flickr One of the royal guards filling his goblet with Cleric. Sacrifice by JBlaze1989, on Flickr Drinking with the captain. No better way to kill a boring sundayafternoon. Sacrifice by JBlaze1989, on Flickr A group pic. It is said by the dragon priests that drinking your brothers's blood, you gain super-elven strength and powers which are very benificial on the battlefield. And its a mitgardian rumor that snow elf blood tastes rather sweet... It is not a big surprise that a crazy cannibal race of elves extirminated hundreds of years ago. More on their back story in my upcoming entry for challenge 3! Hope you like it.

This is a story on its own? I thought this was your prologue to challenge 3. Maybe you could use it as such? It is a great beginning! I love treehouses and you did a great job with it. I do agree that the tree could have been a little more thicker, but nevertheless a great moc. Also very cool that you used/are going to use other guildmembers as companions.

I was going to build a few free builds, because I joined just after challenge two, but right before I wanted to post the builds challenge three was announced and I decided to use them in ch.3. Next month I'll have some more time at hands so I'll post some free builds after the completion of ch.3. I also should work a bit on my profile, cause people tend to remember you faster with an avatar and signature. -
What I liked about ecclesiastes' built is the great use of parts, like the flags and the farmlands. It also was more "mitgardian" to me than the other mocs. Which were all great btw. Darkdragon's moc is entirely studless which I love and also very cool details like the lightsabers for Collins and the lighthouse. Bartjuhs moc has good snow effects and soccerkid has nice details and the outer Wally are great. This is my quick review of the good things of every moc. Microscale building is very hard and these four did an excellent job.

Haha yeah Gannicus! Very cool scene and I laughed a bit 'cause of the description. I like your use of foliage, its very distinctive.

Very Nice Ecclesiastes! I like the cart design, the use of the woodensticks as farmlands and the gloves as flags. Very inventive. Cool microscale building! And is that a port on the back of the moc? -
I like it! But I would recommend to use a different color for the first floor and built more offset, for example the entire first floor one stud wider than the base floor, or try to build windows offset so the house doesnt look so flat. For a different color you could use White with Brown effects which could be wood. And if youre building a large city I would suggest adding a lot of different small buildings. Otherwise it can become rather reppetitive. Keep up the good work!

I am reading through the last pages of this thread and read about the guest-lecture idea; what a great idea! I would love to learn and see other techniques explained by the best. I am at the moment working on a dragon and just cant get the legs right, something like that would really help out than. -

Looks very cool beerbeard! But shouldn't it be heavenly in your title? Or is it a name you invented yourself? -

derfel oh allright, I see what you mean now. I'll use my best parts on the main scene than! Legonardo Nice building! I like the use of old and new gray bricks on the wall (was it intentionally?) and it does have a nice dark feel to it, a little like derfels grim hollow. But I would also suggest, like zc, to place the hinge of the door at the inside of the building. -

I am building for challenge 3 (im a mitgardian guildie btw) but so it doesn't matter how big the story or the different mocs are, only the tomb/crypt/etc will be judged? I think someone could have said that earlier, cause I've already built two scenes and haven't even started building the place where the crystal is placed. I thought it was the idea to tell a story about the epic quest and that the entire story with the included mocs was judged as one to show of creativity and the way of implementation of mocs in your quest.
