  1. Same with the Boba Fett helmet - trying to colour the "jaw" shading areas can be a real pain in the rear, and the worst thing is, LDD doesn't seem to be consistent about which colour combinations (ie, on the jawline and the mask front) it will allow you to use. One some occasions, you can re-open a saved file and suddenly find it has decided it doesn't "like" the colours you selected previously.
  2. @Calabar It's appearance, in so far as that this brick was perfect for creating a smooth angled edge by using several in a row, and has been useful in several MOCs as a "gap filler" for closing otherwise jarring (and aestehtically unpleasing) gaps between angled brick edges. There are numerous other instances where its change in appearance have subtly but noticeably altered details on MOCs. If 50746 really was rounded on top all along, I'll just have to live with it, although it's certainly put me off revisiting any MOCs from 4.3.6 that use it extensively for the time being... Luckily I've still got 4.3.6 installed too, so I may consider just sticking with that!
  3. You're kidding me, you mean to tell me the non-bevelled version never existed? Well if that's so, that'll teach me for abandoning Lego all those years
  4. *sigh* Was so happy to see some of the improvements and additional bricks that came with this update, only to find that for some inexplicable reason someone in the meantime has decided to tinker with the geometry of the 50746 1x1 cheese wedge.... Two points: 1) If geometry on the real brick has changed, why not put in a separate instance? 2) Surely there were more useful things to spend the time updating? 50746 in its original form was an incredibly helpful little brick; now really its only use is as a cheese wedge. :(
  5. IIRC, there is usually a spring update and an autumn one, although definite dates aren't given...
  6. ^ Doubt we'd get that as pat of LDD, but it would make an awesome separate app... A sort of Lego Simulator.....
  7. Incidentally, does anyone have any idea if there have been any murmerings about the next brickset update for LDD? Have been sort of (im)patiently waiting for the autumn update to come through...
  8. That's bleeding AWESOME!
  9. Calabar does a superb job of running the LDD Official Sets Index; his rigorous enforcement of the rules is what makes the thread work so well. So (because I'm fairly certain you don't hear this nearly enough for the hard work you put in) thankyou Calabar, and long may you continue! :)
  10. Great! I wouldn't bother accessing the LDD database anyway -- far too much hassle for my tastes!
  11. ^ Yes, I know the technique - I've been using it quite a bit recently. I just wasn't sure about the board's stance on discussing it.
  12. Just out of curiosity: Does that include manually applying a deco that is in LDD to a brick that it wouldn't normally be used with? Gods, yes. Yes!
  13. I think Darking may be confused by the fact that LDD isn't currently able to render the colour correctly - ie, it appears medium-light blue whenever you place a brick of that colour in the model. LDD's inability to show this and the other transparent materials at their "true" colour isn't particularl helpful... I can't figure out why this wasn't corrected from the outset. One other issue while I'm here, and it relates back to the point about placing armour as well as cloaks on minifig torsos: If a torso has a piece of armour, eg 85961 Protective Vest, that shouldn't prevent a non-regular minifig head such as 11595 Create No. 7 from being attached. The "all or nothing" rule which currently seems to prevent heads attaching properly - even though there is plenty of the torso stud free - needs changing to something a little more sensible.
  14. This! A hundred times, THIS!! And yes, as Mataroa pointed out: LDD's ability to arbitrarily remove a brick that it doesn't "think" fits quite right, despite having allowed the placement when you last in that file, is rather vexing...
  15. Hahaha! Only for your tremendous LDD skills I'm afraid
  16. ....I think I love you.
  17. Yes, I'm aware of that. Good grief, I've been around long enough to know about duplo! What I meant is it's not LEGO LEGO. Capiche? Clearly the LDD team must have been thinking the same way, otherwise we'd have had duplo included as standard, no? I can't personally say I've ever seen a duplo piece in a normal lego set, whereas of course technic parts appear pretty much as commonplace. As such, I can't imagine there are many people out there who would be so desperate to see duplo blocks included among LDD's repertoire. Probably far fewer infact, than those demanding every Bionicle piece ever created...
  18. Duplo isn't technically lego, though, so... (and no, the "technically" wasn't a pun!! )
  19. Awesome! It was incredible to hear the lengths they've gone to to bring the mesh "to life"
  20. Great! Hadn't spotted that. Thanks Calabar (and legolijntje). I know about the SW section though, but thanks anyway. I've perused the MOCs thread a few times myself for ideas!
  21. I have a query on this: I've previously created a lot of Star Wars MOCs in LDD, and I'd love to share them on the forums here, but the presentation of them using LDDs native rendering capabilities is sorely lacking, and its really put me off posting anything so far. Is there a way to port the LDD files directly into PovRay (or any other rendering app for that matter)? NB: I really really don't want to have to rebuild any of them in LDRAW or any other convoluted process if I can help it - I'm not exactly enjoying a wealth of spare time to be tinkering with something like that!
  22. I didn't even know they'd included that yet
  23. Lol! Wait... don't tell me the 6x6 is messed up too!
  24. You made two assumptions there Calabar: 1) that I frequent that thread, and 2) that I'm talking about the original error... I'm displeased because after I repaired several models due to the 4.3.6 dish problem, that problem has now been compounded by the application of a new fix and I will have to redo those same sets all over again. Also, and as others have pointed out, that post came after my model repairs were made anyway, and there was no indication at that time that the design team would undertake any action to resolve it. Lastly I'm a big proponent of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and since dish 3960 was working just perfectly in 4.3.5 I see no good reason for it to have been meddled with! :P
