Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
Starwars4J replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A Lego museum :-P Like made out of bricks and small enough to sit on a table ;-) -
I'm pretty sure just the gun was remote controlled :-P

Nathan Sawaya on the Colbert Report...
Starwars4J replied to Wobo Ihi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well I think the goal was to 'poke fun' at our hobby as most people would, only to be shown in the end how lucrative it can be, and what nice things can be made. I do think, however, that it was done in a poor way and I ended up feeling a little insulted regardless of his intentions. -
I don't like it at all, the normal cone looked much better IMO, this looks...ugh :-X I hope this doesn't start appearing in all the sets...

In a zip-lock bag :-P I plan on making something more elaborate eventually though, a museum -
Nice and tiled, a few greebs wouldn't be bad but it looks armored well enough. I like the legs a lot, and the only thing about this that bothers me is that it looks kinda boxy. I wish the 1x2 trans-clear plate actually went through to the inside as it's not really a window, but that's personal preference I guess. Is that tire on the front supposed to be a spare or something? Kind've unprotected...but it can't be a greeb. Love the gun.

Huh? The trans-clear greatsword is selling for $6 now? She jacked up some of her prices a little, most seem the same though. I don't see the white plants in her shop anymore though. You have to be careful, some things there ARE mislabeled as "special part". Before you buy something because it's a "special part" you need to make sure it is :-P Check to see if there are any sets where that part is available in that color, if yes it isn't truly a 'special part' ;-) As for what I consider rare...really any part that didn't appear in any set, or VERY limited promo sets. -

Those are some rare parts, but others (such as the flute, chrome mug, some animals and minifigs) which were in that collection you showed I don't consider rare since they were in regular production sets. That I don't consider as rare...so I didn't take pics :-P I may do something like that eventually though. -

Oh, that guy. Anyway Magicbricks is the woman I pointed to in several posts for rare parts. Excellent service, fast shipping, etc. -
Don't get me wrong, I DO think it's great *sweet* Just trying to give some tips to someone who seems like they want to venture into Space MOCs ;-)

Well I don't have the black ghost yet, but maybe one day :'-) I had no idea about this black swordfish, picture? The red johnny thunder hat sounds nice too :-D -
Well there's an old topic about it here So I'll close this, but thanks for bringing that video back to my attention *wub* Any further discussion can continue in the link I posted.

Remember that in a vig you need to pack even more detail in than normal, the outpost suffers a big from the 'big grey wall syndrome' (it is grey and not bley, right?), and since this is space remember that you need to greeb it up. Well you don't need to, but at least put more textures and the like in, on a small vig greebs are a very good idea though. Also put something else by the entrance, I doubt three aliens need what looks like four guns :-D Unless that black bar is a 'coatrack' in which case it needs something more to make it easy to tell what it is. It must be a dangerous area they live in to need all those weapons! X-D The chair is great, but I feel bad for their poor backs! Similar why isn't the TV in a place that makes it easy for them to watch? It's like sitting in the first row of a movie theatre :-P And a rewn wood floor on a space outpost? Classy :-P Overall not bad, can't wait to see what other spacey creations you'll post!

Very true, maybe I was just trying to justify something that didn't make sense :-D Why don't you like repulsorlifts though? Very true, it's believable only as far as you think "it's a movie", for the heroes almost always need to face impossible odds and do the impossible. There's actually something called the "Stormtrooper effect" named after this. I thought you were a walrus :'-( I agree for the most part, and I haven't read anything by him but I'll definitely look into it! The funny thing is, this is actually real. Scientists can currently only do it on very small scales, but it involves manipulation of plasma :-D Agreed Well this goes hand-in-hand with... This is something that I believe will eventually happen, but I can see why you'd rather stick to a future where it never does. I don't think you've proven yourself wrong at all! And this wasn't spam, I really enjoyed this conversation :-)

I know what you mean, I have all the sketches down for my next MOC...an Imperial Cruiser, but it's so parts-intensive I haven't even started it yet! I still have a mountain that I'm building...and this castle keep which I won't finish in the next year even...but this cruiser (which I plan on being a SHIP) is gonna be crazy in parts...I still need to design decent prisoner pods for it though. And you want an easy source of energy for your stuff? I remember reading an article on a theory awhile ago whereby theoretically you could generate an infinite supply of energy by harnessing the power of atoms popping in and out of existence everywhere in the universe. I THINK it was called Zero-point Energy, and it's the basis that all my ships run off of. It's clean, efficient, and most importantly means they don't need to stop to refuel, however missiles and food supplies still need to be refilled of course... It is the method by which droids can last indefinitely, however, but it is rather expensive. I definitely would be interested in hearing about some of your technologies and story
-
I doubt it will become a full-fledged story, it's just a compilation of how the universe developed, though you never know :-) The second generation of humans...to be honest I don't remember why I really made them, it just seemed like a natural thing to happen to me. I do like the concept of xenophobia, and it seems like a very human thing to me, I mean we're already xenophobic, so could you imagine how we'd be if we met thousands of other species? Like I said a lot is very rough, some almost down-right embarrassing, but one day I'll make it a lot smoother, and a lot longer. Maybe flush out MOCpages a bit, or just throw my own site up there. There's definitely a chronological storyline going on, hell, I already have sketches of what the main Imperial Base would look like after it's taken over by the rebels...(c'mon, the good guys have to win in the end, not to say they won't take losses...) ANYWAY before I go on rambling anymore that's it in a nutshell. I don't really sit down and write the ideas as much as jot down what comes to me. Hope this helps clear things up a bit. Thanks for the interest! :-) I'm actually thinking about making a small topic for the various people and ships in my Universe, but I'm not sure yet.

Well I never took the time to actually type it all out in a professional manner, I just sat down and wrote it in response to the thread (though I had a rough idea in my head). The thread was called Your Colony Empire and time setting..., and here is my post (maybe a minor edit or two, but things ARE subject to change... Yes, not terribly well-written, but I'd like to take the time someday to fix it up, write it well, and take out the lame parts :-P

Good girl *y* X-D

While my 'universe' has an Empire, it has nothing to do with the Star Wars universe :-P As for the first generation humans, it's part of the storyline I've made for my MOCs, I find a cohesive storyline helps when making MOCs, and makes it more fun. I typed it up once for a thread on classic-space about your storylines, I should C/P it here one day. Basically there have been three generations of humans, the first (the one we're a part of) which grew to great power, then disappeared a long time ago without a trace. The second generation which rose again which killed itself quickly in wars. And the third generation of humans which is where the universe takes place in.

Definitely F, but possibly some G, but I can't tell since you don't see where their hands are 8-|
