True ImperialJohn, Do you have any pics of the fireplace? Also concerning "real" lights, you could do a "fake" floor wich would give you enough room for electrical wiring. I know its a pain if you want to do that in the basement because you already did everything. If the top floor is not too advanced you could easily double the floor to have the cables and add several small light bulbs whre you want (especially in your fireplace ;) ).
