Nice build, clever use of the sack as the Ham and good looking meat. Good luck in the competition...

What themes do LEGO "Old Timers" Collect?

For me it's been fairly restricted to Modulars. I missed out on the first three though I'm BLing the CC at the moment. I've got the rest - and I'm eagerly anticipating the Parisian Restaurant. In the meantime I build Modular MOCs. Some from net-bought plans, some homegrown, some modded from plans. So the list so far is; Fire Brigade Grand Emporium Pet Shop Town Hall Palace Theatre Metro Station Bar (Homegrown) Brewery (Modded from Plans) Pub (Modded from Plans) Street Entrance to a Subway (Homegrown) Old English Pub (Plans) Car Repair Shop (Homegrown) Soup Kitchen with Flop House (Homegrown) Tractor Supply Company with Dance Studio (Homegrown) Chilli's Restaurant (Plans) Two residential houses (Modded from Plans) Generally I'll have one or two on the go at any one time - so there's a Coffeeshop (Plans), Nightclub (Homegrown) and the Corner Cafe underway at present. One of these days I'll organize them into a street plan, but in the meantime they're sprawling erratically over a couple of tables and getting dangerously close to my Home Brewing area.... -

Yes that was a nice detail. The train looks good and I really like the color combination you've used.

Assuming I avoid Krampus, the pooping Santa Claus and the lump of coal I'd really appreciate the Parisian Restaurant please.... ..oh and peace on earth and goodwill to all AFOLs.

Looks good! I like the grille and the front end, but I agree with the consensus about the White for Grey stripe. More please!

Welcome to the forums ritztoys! Yep, you've gotta watch out for those 'honey-do' lists....

Sweet looking 5th wheel! The interior is fantastic and good job on the slide outs.

No way LT! It's far too clean and shiny and chromey and has panels without dents. I do like it a lot though. The proportions are just right and the addition of those outrigger stabilizers was a nice touch. I have to say though that I don't recall ever seeing one with windows on the front of the camper-shell - too prone to shattering when you hit low hanging branches.

Welcome to the forums Mikuri!

Welcome Supervir2. Yep, those Modulars can be addictive. I look forward to seeing your MOCs.

It looks really good. I particularly like the detailing at the front end.

I've seen others in the forums over the last year saying $350-$400 and upwards for a full build. Nowadays I think that's on the low side, but I won't be spending anywhere near that - there's just no way I could justify nearly $7.00 for a single DrkBlue Arch, or the $1.00 each for the 36 DrkRed Slope's you need, or the $4.00 for each of the 20 White panels (even if I could find them in the US). Purists may scoff but I'm going for a Cafe Corner reboot with alternate colors (black or DrkBlueGrey roof) and alternate pieces (windows instead of panels) in an effort to keep the total cost down around the $200 mark. Take out the stuff I've already got in my inventory and I'm probably looking at a set of BL orders at about half that. So I'll end up with a Corner Modular for about $100 (and a depleted inventory) - who can argue with that? No chance!
-
I've decided to BL the Corner Cafe. So I obtained the Parts list in Bricklink, chucked that into a wanted list and ran it to see how much money the pieces are going to cost. I knew some of the pieces were rare , but still got sticker shock on several pieces so my plan is to build it with alternate pieces initially and if I'm not happy with the result then I'll wait to see if the original pieces come down in price... Tonight I'll reconcile the amended Wanted List to my Inventory and see what kind of figure we're dealing with.....

I'm digging the new badge! I'm grateful it wasn't a Bus Pass, or a Rocking Chair, or an enlarged Prostate, or a Graybeard, and especially glad it's not Monsinjor's Grim Reaper....

Welcome ElCrab. Ah, questions about storage. Yep, we've all been through that particular problem. Here's a link to 37 page thread about it. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26213 What I think you'll find though is as your collection and inventory grows your approach to storage will evolve. So be flexible. I use a bunch of 3-5 drawer clear plastic drawers (Sterlite brand). Each drawer is maybe 1" x 6" and with a clear front you can see the contents easily. I started with 10 drawers and have just added to that as necessary. And I've split and consolidated contents as the inventory changes. Oh, and as for yellowing bricks - I use them! They're great for areas where either a) you want an old distressed look to a MOC, or b) where you can't see them as support elements.

Welcome Cocabottle! You've got to watch out for Bricklinking the Modulars - it gets kind of addictive!
