Hi People. I have a lego keychain collection of some size, and always on the looking for new stuff. I saw this on eBay, and even asked the vendor, who insists it was from the Disney lego store. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...38996%26fvi%3D1 But it doesn't really look like a lego Minifig (hands too closed, body too square, feet not right). There are four different ones listed by this seller. They seem to be a good seller, and responded quickly to my question. But still, I'm suspicious this is not a Lego product. Has anyone seen these before? are they really a Lego product, or some other maker. Thanks Gyl

I remember being very impressed by this at the time of the contest. Simple, proportional, elegant. Not a mishmash of parts. Great overall look. Deserved to win.

I have never had a bad bricklink experience (30 or so). The smaller sellers are basically people like us who are trying to clear out their excess Lego, or one day realized that they had outgrown it and needed the money or space for something else. That's OK, more lego for me. The bigger stores are former smaller stores who realized that they could make money from a product they love. Unlike eBay, where most sellers don't care about the product they sell, as long as it sells and their feedback is OK, on Bricklink the sellers tend to be much more approachable, and the pace is more relaxed. On eBay you buy something and the seller usually will send you an invoice in 30 minutes. On Bricklink you can add to the order over the next few days, and its a more pleasant buying experience. I have about 700+ eBay transactions, 95% as a buyer, and about 30 Bricklink transaction, all as a buyer. eBay is usually a better deal money wise, but sometimes Bricklink is the better answer. If I'm gonna give my money to anyone, all other things being even close to equal, I will give it to a fellow lego fan.

BZPower had linked in some news from Eurobricks. I stayed and looked around, and have never looked back. Friendliest site, no one takes themselves too seriously, and it makes a huge difference that he owners/webmasters (whatever you all want to call yourselves) are fans and very active posters as well, return PMs, etc. It's real community. Go EB. By the way, city for city, there are more fans from Toronto, Canada active here than from any other city in the world, I think. Perhaps we should rename it EuroCanadaBricks. Gyl

Well, hard to do a decent job with only Photoeditor, but there ya go.

I'm just thinking... what about new Adventurers? what about a decent castle set? what about new Mindstorms (its been 8 years and we are still using the same technology!!) I don't give three rat's megablocks about Batman. I predict it will suck. Lots of greebles and little construction value. It will be Alpha Team on steroids. Right now the only thing to look forward to, just cuz it's so darn pretty, is the Ferrari raceway set. Is there any hope for something better? Sigh $^@#! Spongblob. Well, actually I like Spongebob too....... but not as LEGO! It's just not "spongy". :'(

It seems to me that there are more varied and interesting things that can be done with a castle than with a ship. If you will look up and down Brickshelf, unique and stunning castle masterpieces likely outnumber Pirate masterpieces 20:1. I have BSB and SES and love them. But I could live without Lego Pirates. Lego without castles is an oxymoron. Of course, to compare apples to apples, we are not talking about that pile o'crap they call KK2, or King Leo, etc. We are talking about King's Castle, Black Monarch, Black Falcon, Guarded Inn, and even some of the Forestmen. It's Classic Castle for me, peeps. Gyl

Welcome to Eurobricks Jinzo. Enjoy this easygoing site - best on the net for general purpose Lego these days. Any, by the way, your MOCs that I have seen in BZpower are some of the best I've ever seen. Not sure if SuvieD's monster building contest is open still, but I'm sure you could put in a very impressive entry. Cheers Gyl

41. "Fan" is a relative term. I have learned to like Bionicle. Definitely an acquired taste for an old guy like me. I used to think it was hideous, but my kids liked it, and I found it a pleasantly flexible means of building humanoids and other life forms. Some very original things are possible. The recent issue of Brickjournal should make this very obvious, as do many of the contests over at BZpower. Technic has always been my favourite Lego theme, and the early Bionicle sets from 2001 and 2002 had some mechanically clever constructions. Too bad Lego dumbed everything down after that. There's some fun in Bionicle for almost anyone if they give it a chance (maybe castle purists and old Pirate hounds are excepted). Cheers Gyl

Hope they sell it in Canada. This is one of the most fun Castles ever made. Not a classic castle, but fun nevertheless. I have one, but would happily buy a couple more at a reasonable price discount (doesnt have to be 50%). Cheers. Gyl

Holly cow - 120+ responses for this thread. Now THAT'S a hot topic. Please consider me skeptical. I am not totally convinced this is not a hoax. Not sure it it's good or bad if true. Probably will sell well, but I would have preferred no more licenses, and I doubt there will be any cool construction with this theme. Likely it will be a more spiffy version of alpha team. Gyl EDIT: did I say "spiffy"? Sorry about that.

This would be an example of what can be done on those frames that are prominent in the article on Mecha. Awesome posability. (totally not my work, this guy is one of my fav builders and he usually DOES use bionicle bits predominantly) http://216.92.149.12/moc.php/2156 Gyl

LMFAO TT (my second LMFAO spam post, but I could not help it. Shoot me now) Gyl edit: 5 minutes later. Still laughing.

That may be cuz you are used to using Bionicle to build Mecha. But these people were building mecha long before Bionicle bits came along. Look up "gla-gla" on google. It's a classic upon which many other designs are based. Gyl

The next issue of Brickjournal is out. http://www.legofan.org/brickjournal/ Wow! what can I say. 60+ pages of Lego goodness. Twice a good as the first, since it's twice as long. Great stuff on Mecha building. Joe Meno and crew - my hat's off to you. Gyl

What's the difference between Scala and Belville?
gylman replied to Mister Phes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
LMAO. So many words to make the point - you must belong to a debating society. But yes, what you say is exactly right Suvie. My favourites are the food greebles (carrots, apples, chicken legs, etc) I have a good number of Belleville sets, mostly purchased from Germany on eBay. Belleville is also easy to get on S@H in Canada but expensive. Occasionally they go on sale, and then you can load up. Gyl -
What's the difference between Scala and Belville?
gylman replied to Mister Phes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Scala was basically Barbie sized or slightly smaller. No construction at all worth mentioning, just some interconnection. Belville is real Lego, although in weird colours, excessively large pieces, and lots of interesting odd bits (greebles?) that go well in a variety of MOCs. Not too bad in the right setting (girls aged 5-8). Apparently in Europe Belville sells very well for this demographic. Gyl -
I think we deserve a UCS-Castle. 3000 pieces, and about the size of two big baseplates. Castle should be old gray colour. Not just a wall with fortifications, but some substance inside. Roof lifts off to reveal throne room. Dungeon exposed by lifting side panel. Sleeping quarters near one of hte sides of the castle. Central courtyard, flowers and water fountain, fair maids frolicking about. Overall, the construction style of Black Falcon's and King's Castle should be used. etc etc.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
gylman replied to Norro's topic in Culture & Multimedia
There's no doubt that the quality of the animation in Wererabbit surpasses all the others. I found Close Shave and Wrong Suit funnier. They were much shorter of course, and I wonder how much has to do with my attention span. Gyl -
Having also voted for castle, I will further avoid mention of the fact that Vikings, Pirates, Ninjas etc, are basically glorified castle lines. (heck, what's the Skull's Eye Schooner other than a long sleek castle that floats, eh Phes?). ;) Basically, the choices are castle, town, space, technic (which includes Mindstorms and Bionicle). All others are variants. .......<prepares for backlash>....... Gyl

Well, I would have loved to be there, except that I'M IN CANADA! *sing* Frankly, based on the countries poll results so far, the next event should be in the US, near the Canadian border. :-D Maybe we should rename the site "NorthAmeriBricks" , and invite our respected European (and Australian of course, Mr. Phes) Lego lovers to join us. :-D Gyl

Actually, I believe it's 5 of every set ever made. For copyright battle purposes, if necessary. Cheers. Gyl

Since I started this......I'll weigh in again. Actually, I don't advocate shutting down the BT website, and respect his right to put up the MOCs. There are far worse things on the internet, and readily available to kids. I started out by wondering why he did this, and whether I was the only one bothered by it. Obviously I'm not. All this stuff about history or not history is irrelevant to me, and I suspect to him too. What puzzles me is why he does it. It has gotten very repetitive by this point, and the shock value is long gone. Unless he is an evangelist trying to promote the bible, which seemed very unlikely to be the case, why keep it up? It's a lot of work. He made his point, and I suspect most LEGO people have kinda lost interest by this point. Who is still interested? I notice that there were practically no comments on Lugnet. Wouldn't it be ironic if he started out with this trying to "MOC" the bible, so to speak, but now has been adopted by the religious side as a promoter of their beliefs? I wonder how many church libraries have The Brick Testament book on their shelves, and a suitably age restricted link on their computers. Cheers Gyl
