"I'll crush those puny little buggers! BWHAHAHAHAHA" Santa rubs his hands with glee.... and then adds in a smaller voice.... "Oh, uh ...... yes..... uh ....Merry Xmas. HO HO HO"

no offense, but thats a stupid question Well to be fair... I'm not sure what the question is. If he means "is batman lego real?" then this question has been settled. If he means is the site a lego sponsored site like Bionicle.com etc. then it's a good question. Gyl

I would assume that Willy is in Quebec, Canada. Cheers. Gyl

Lego is no longer making trains. 2005 was the last year. There may be a replacement, but it's not clear what and when... Low profit margin and low volume = no more trains I would think. Sorry man. Gyl

Agree with you Phes, totally. Vladeks castle is actually better than it looks - it looks CRAP. It builds OK. It is not in the same league as the aforementioned classics.

MegaBloks Pyrates is better than LEGO 4+ Pirates
gylman replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
OUCH! I hope this post reflect more your anger at 4+ than the quality of MB,otherwise Lego is in trouble. One of the main beefs about Megabloks is that they are made of inferior plastic that does not interlock as well. If untrue, there could be issues..... :( I did build a MB set once, and did think that the plastic was inferior. Of course, this could just be self delusion, the same way I am sure I can tell real coke from diet coke from pepsi from diet pepsi. A disturbing post Gyl -

Amen brother! Truer words were never spoken. -
Merry Xmas. This is the best online community I have ever been a part of. Jipay, DT, and all the moderators and helpers - thanks for making this great site available. Easily the best Lego site on the Web (my opinion anyway). Hope 2006 is as good as 2005, both for The Lego Company, and for Eurobricks. Cheers. Gyl

Indeed! A reliable seller is SuvieD. Cheers.

Where to get technic wheels and tires?
gylman replied to 5150 Lego's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Again, eBay. Check this out. Auction is ending soon, and looks very reasonable so far. Action is slow before Xmas and you may snag a bargoon. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lego-Tires-Lot-of-12_W...1QQcmdZViewItem -
One word. eBay. Just track the sales for a week or two, get one of the big lots, and usually it's WAY cheaper than Bricklink or buying sets.

Wonderful. I'm looking at it here wiht my kids are they are going "Daddy, can we buy that?", "Daddy, can you build that". ' NO and NO But one day I will try. Nice work. Gyl

Try making houses/castles that open up nicely to reveal the insides. The hinging/hiding techniques are interesting. http://www.classic-castle.com/howto/articl.../OpeningUp.html Classic castle has lots of cool Howto articles. Highly recommended. Gyl

Crikey. I love Lego, even Belleville and Bionicle, but this Exo Force is junkola! Big empty looking sets, wierd shapes, stickers, BLECH!! And not cheap, either! Exo Force seems to be THE big theme for 2006. I hope this doesn't become a disaster for TLC.

<squints> The technic truck may actually be good. Hard to tell. the technic tractor looks bizarre!! Wierd colours and cube-ish. Very odd. DYING to see these. Gyl

He has an inner core which is very mobile with lots of ball joints and a couple of KK clicky joints (ball joints are not very strong, but are very mobile). The knees and elbows are flat hingy pieces. It's a pretty standard design. Look up "gla gla armature"on Google. If you want to see how awesome it can be in the hands of a good builder, not me, check this out: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/2156 There are others. My guy can't be so flexible because he had to be chubby. Also, he is very heavy due to the chubbiness, so I had to use a couple of clicky joints rather than ball joints for the shoulders. Anyway once I have the core, I build his body, arms and legs around it. Lots of fiddling, and I never seem to have the right part when I need it. I ran out of red reverse slopes at about 3/4 way though. Also didn't have enough red jumper plate, enough tan for the face, and a couple of other things. It's true what they say.... "you can never have too much Lego". The hardest part to get to look nice was the face (well, not really hard, but I was just tired of it and I didn't have enough tan pieces, and wanted to be done, so I did a sucky job. Sorry). There are awesome articles on mecha building in the 2nd issue of Brickjournal. highly recommend it. But, reading is not enough. You gotta sit there and fiddle with it to understand what works and what doesn't. The main problem with mechas is that as they get heavier they need sturdier joints, but the sturdy joints are less mobile than ball joints, so you gotta balance those two. Also, the more mobile they are the more the joints show, so you gotta figure out ways to hide as much of the joint as possible. Cheers. Gyl

Welcome. Good to see a technic man here. This site is dominated by Star Wars and Castleheads (not that there is anything wrong with that), and one very peculiar pirate freak. You'll run into him soon enough! Have a look at this recent discussion. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...t=ST&f=7&t=3204 I voted for the Airtech Claw Rig. What's your fav technic set?? Cheers Gyl

From the list, I vote for Johnny and the crew. Beautiful and totally under-rated Emperor's Fortress. See set review at http://www.adventurers.dk

Doh! Sorry, double post (curse you "back" button).

So, I figured I would make a posable Santa. Easy, right? NOT! It's hard to make someone fat and posable. ended up having a musclebound Santa. Have a good laugh! Hey, you wanna piece of me! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/s...a/pieceofme.jpg Welcome to my Xmas display http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/s...nta/welcome.jpg Yeah bud.... it's over there! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/s...vertherejpg.jpg Sorry dudes..... time to disco! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/s...osanta_2jpg.jpg Oh yeah, and some Advent calendar stuff http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/A...t2006/tree3.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/A...t2006/tree2.jpg Merry Xmas. <insert that tiresome argument>. Big pieces. Boring build. I have it. Certainly the best of KK, but compared to 6080, 6090, 6085, 6074, its disappointing. If TLC is willing to make a 150$ (canadian) set for the 3-6 year old crowd, surely it can do something better for the "slightly older" fans. Seriously, look at the Duplo and look at Vladek's castle. Which looks nicer? There is so much pent up demand for classic castle type of sets from all those kids who built the 60xx line of castles 10-20 years ago, and are now adults with money to spend. I bet if Lego released a UCS (ultimate collector's series) type Castle, with 3000 pieces for $300 the AFOLs would snap it up like crazy (assuming it was a good castle of course).

http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?p=4785 I'm not sure how long this has been out, cuz I don't usually look at Duplo stuff, but OMG! *wub* Look at that amazing Duplo Castle. It's better than anything I'v seen in KK. Why didn't they have this when my kids were at that age? :-D Or when I was at that age! :D ATTENTION The Lego Company - I will happily pay the same money, or more, for a good castle in the System line. sigh Gyl

Well, I enjoy both system and Technic lego, but Technic rules in my collection and in the amount of time I spend building things. Nothing has ever surpassed the Claw Rig. There have been bigger sets, nicer looking sets, but nothing with better engineering. One of these days I need to build a bigger version of it with remote control, but that would be quite the challenge. I agree that Imperial Trading Post is one of the all time best. I love that set too. If I was to pick a system fav, out of all the amazing things that are out there, it would be a tough call. I like classic castle best, probably the Black Falcon's Fortress, 6074, which is a perfect set: not too big, not too small, fun build, nice looking. http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6074 This years Building Bonanza is probably the best value for money in a set that Lego has ever made. Tiles, tons of white, green slopes, roof +++, long old gray elements, for a very reasonable price. Nothing in that set is useless. Every serious MOCer needs to buy 3-5 of this set. http://guide.lugnet.com/set/4886 All my personal opinion of course.
