I think we need to see pictures before passing judgement on the series. With ambiguities in translations it's hard to assume too much about the new minifigs. Nevertheless, I am excited by the possibilities that this list brings and can't wait to see them!

Wow, what a highly detailed review! Thanks Pandora! I believe this set is $50 in the US which seems incredibly overpriced for under 300 parts (I guess there are a lot of large parts which somewhat explains the price). Unfortunately, the set looks to sparse for my liking

As awesome as that sounds I think the cost for molds would be prohibitive in this case

I love the push LEGO has been making recently with all the wonderful new animal molds (I had to pick up the Robber's Hideout just for that bear as soon as I saw it!). Here's my list: 1) Sheep (great farm animal addition to round out the essentials) 2) Wolf (bigger than the dog, really hoping for wargs in the hobbit sets) 3) Boar (bigger mold than the pig!) 4) Rhino 5) Penguin (hopefully we'll see one in the upcoming arctic theme)

I think getting a huge Rivendell set would be great but it's hard to believe that they would make it due to the lack of conflict, especially in the Hobbit.

I agree that it would have been great to get more Rohan soldiers but I think its partially meant to mirror the overwhelming amount of Uruk-Hai at the battle

Whoa that poster looks awesome! Makes you wonder why they didn't give Aragorn a cape in the sets (not like that stopped me from giving him one).

This happened to me about a year ago. I had received a snow trooper battle pack and didn't notice anything suspicious. When I opened it I saw that the bags had all been opened, the minifigs and accessories were removed and the bags were stapled shut. The box showed signs of being resealed with hot glue I called Lego and they replaced all the missing parts but it's very frustrating knowing that this is a rising problem and I feel bad if a kid had gotten this set instead of me and they didn't know that you can get Lego to replace the missing parts

Were the missing minifigs replaced with extra versions of the other ones or was the box simply missing some?

Thanks for the great review! When the LotR sets were first spoiled this set looked the most underwhelming to me in terms of price point (430 pcs for $60 seems really bad) but having seen it first hand I got it and I love it. They did a great job with the rounding of the outside wall. I actually ended up getting two of the sets and selling off all the excess minifigs because I liked it so much and to get some more Nazgul

Make sure the box is series 7 But in all seriousness, can you contact Lego and get them replaced? How many normally come in a box?
