  1. Yes, as noted in the errors section of the post. The side glass on 4474 Cockpit is slightly too long, causing it to collide with things when placed vertically. To my knowledge, this only affects two official sets, the remaining one is hinged open anyway, so it won't be an issue. So I'd say priority on this bug is rather low.

  4. The Skylights don't really bug me. The bottom pane of glass is slightly inset, but that is the only real issue. If I'm not mistaken, I thought I read that 4737 Corner Convex Ribbed 4X4X6 was in prior versions as well? I could be getting this confused with the Window 4741 though, I only started messing around with LDD 4 weeks ago. My design philosophy is as long as any substitutions are mainly geometrically correct and look close, it's good enough.
  5. I was going to say this, but I didn't want to be the first dummy. And here I was chuffed about the quality of my screenshots in the LDD thread.

Hole, but are in the correct position. _________________________________________________________________________ Notes: - I accidentally managed to get the 4288 Balloon Tires to slip over the 4624 Rim the other day and delighted with this discovery proceeded to build all remaining sets that feature this assembly. The trick is to raise the rim to the height of the tire, and then slip the tire over it. They don't attach, but they look correct, which is what counts most. - 4288 / 4600 / 4624 Balloon Tire Template LXF File
  8. It's the 4084 tires that are missing from LDD that are missing from those vehicles. It's about 3 studs in diameter, as opposed to the 3641 tire that is in LDD that is about 2 studs in diameter. Both use the same size hub, and the equivalent 3 stud diameter 42611 tire in LDD uses a larger hub and looks rather odd when used on the old models. I was confused as well, and did some serious sleuthing in LDD, which is how I know all of this now. :P

Due to the set design, no offset was caused by this substitution. - 122c01 Modified 2x2 Plate with Wheels replaced with 4600 / 4624 Bearing Element 2x2, Double / Rim Narrow w. Hole. - 4288 Balloon Tires fail to attach to 4624 Rim Narrow w. Hole, but are in the correct position. Notes: - I actually prefer the new hinge assembly to the old, at least on this set, as it will not stick when fully lowered due to the flat tile, yet maintains the original set geometry.
  10. At rest, the rear of my arrow has room to be wiggled down, but not up. To put it another way, after inserting the arrow, the rear of it is at the top of its range of wiggle. Hopefully one of those makes sense. Even if there was no wiggle room, it would still fit fine over the 1x2 tile. So it should clearly be able to be positioned identically in LDD. Since it can't, I'd opine that it is an error with either the geometry of the arrow, the holder, the height it snaps to when placed in the holder, or some combination of the three. I've not looked into other sets that feature the arrow, but I'd imagine the majority of sets don't have a 1x2 tile directly behind the holder, hence this issue not being noticed before, to my knowledge anyway. The 5979 set that has this issue looks fine as built in LDD, so this is very low priority as errors go. :D Not complaining, just documenting them as I find them.
  11. I took a better look at it, and it seems that the 57028 Arrow or the internals of the 57796 Housing (and thus the arrow) are too low by 1/60th to 1/30th of a brick height in LDD. I tested it with real bricks, and everything fits. The gap between arrow and flat tile is the thickness of a sheet of paper, so a very tight tolerance. Clearly this is a LDD geometry/collision error, rather than an illegal build.
  12. Both of these errors occurred while building 5979 Max Security Transport. 6141 Plate 1x1 Round will not attach to 61069 Design Shell w. Ribs. It can be placed in the proper position with scafolding, but does not attach. -On the left, with both parts on the floor, 6141 clearly ghosts. -In the middle, with 61069 raised to the right height, 6141 can be placed illegally, and does not attach. -On the right, a 4274 Connector Peg w. Knob + 6141 were used to lower the floor, thus getting the right and middle 61069 at the proper height to attempt attaching 6141. 6141 was placed as near as possible, then a clip and shaft were added as scaffolding. 6141 was then slid into place, but still does not attach. 57028 Arrow 8M w/Soft Upper P. collides with 3069 Flat Tile 1x2 at the rear of 57796 Release Housing. I'm unsure if this is an illegal build or a LDD collision error. Bottom, ghosts when fully placed in Housing. Top, furthest it can be placed in. LXF File
  13. 5979 Max Security Transport - Theme: Space - Space Police III - LXF File Errors: - Missing all minifigure torso and leg prints. Missing all decals. - 6141 Plate 1x1 Round will not attach to 61069 Design Shell w. Ribs. It can be manually placed in the proper position, but does not attach. - 57028 Arrow 8M w/Soft Upper P. collides with 3069 Flat Tile 1x2 at the rear of 57796 Release Housing.
  14. I figured it would be rather simple to do. As to the reasoning of why or why not they should give us this option, I see it as akin to the hidden Extended mode in prior versions. 1) Let "collisions off" mode be a toggle in an .ini file. Those who really want it can do the legwork to get it. 2) Maintain the state of the toggle in the saved .lxf file. A .lfx built in "collisions off" mode will open in "collisions off" mode regardless of the state of the toggle in the .ini file. 3) I actually strongly agree with this. My main desire for a "collisions off" mode is to work around actual bugs, rather than build with illegal abandon. To sum up, I'm a fan of forced legal building and coming up with truly creative solutions instead of cheap hacks, but only if the bugs inherent to certain parts in LDD don't get in the way of actual legal builds. I've run into three such bugs just in the past day (two of which I reported in the bug thread, the third was previously known), hence my suggestion of a "collisions off" mode.
  15. I think the optimal solution would be to have a toggle that would allow parts to collide/intersect. I've run into two bugged pieces (actual bugs, not illegal builds, reported in the bug thread) just today that a setting like this would resolve.
  16. 6879 Blizzard Baron - Theme: Space - Ice Planet 2002 - LXF File Errors: - Missing all prints. - 6120 Undercarriage 1x4 (Ski) fails to connect to 4275 Hinge Plate 1x2 1/2 as reported here. The hinges manage to get incredibly close, so for the most part, the model looks fine. Updated 2012/01/24: - 43989 Parabolic Reflector ⌀24x6.4 replaced with correct 3960 Round Plate ⌀32x6.4 as noted by Toa Of Justice. - Mini figure legs corrected to black as noted by Toa Of Justice. - Set posed.
  17. 6120 Undercarriage 1X4 (Ski) fails to connect to either of the three fingered hinges, 4275 Hinge Plate 1X2 1/2 and 2452 Plate 1X2 W. Hinge. You can see in the image that the hinge ghosts when placed where it should connect. A close approximation of proper placement can be achieved by placing a 1x1 plate underneath the hinge, moving it into position, and then deleting the 1x1. It looks rather convincing if close attention isn't paid. An example of this issue on 6879 Blizzard Baron can be seen here.
  18. 6925 Interplanetary Rover - Theme: Space - Futuron - LXF File Errors: - Missing all prints. - 4474 Cockpit cannot close when attached to 4625 Plate 1x4 Vertical Hinge since 4474 it is out of spec with respect to the physical part as reported here. Updated 2012/01/24: - 4474 Cockpit placed manually so that it now rests flush against cockpit wall. Does not attach to 4625 and does not hinge as a result. Original LXF file to compare the difference. - Mini figure torsos corrected to white. - Set posed.
  19. 4474 Cockpit 4X6X2 will not attach vertically to 4625 Plate 1X4 Vertical Hinge in either orientation. This breaks 6925 Interplanetary Rover and 6882 Walking Astro Grappler as demonstrated in the first image. The closest it can get in LDD is 6.7 degrees. Past this, the cockpit and plate collide. I tested it with actual LEGO, and it works fine. So it is definitely a legal build. As well it will not attach in the other orientation as demonstrated by the second image. The collision area is clearly visible. The fault lies with the 4474 Cockpit. If it were trimmed where the collision takes place, it would match its physical counterpart. While the cockpit is flush with the bricks in the third picture, with actual LEGO, there is a small gap between cockpit and bricks further demonstrating that 4474 as represented in LDD is slightly too long in that particular dimension. Edited: Realized the error was with 4474, and not 4625 as originally posted. An example of this issue on 6925 Interplanetary Rover can be seen here.

  22. 6872 Lunar Patrol Craft - Theme: Space - Classic - LXF File Errors: - Missing all prints. - 4475 Double Wing 8x8 with 4x4 Cutout replaced with 6104 Double Wing 8x8 with 3x4 Cutout. - Due to the smaller cutout, the control panel 3069 Flat Tile 1x2 is 8 LDU too high. - The shallower cutout also restricts the mini figure's arm range of motion. Updated 2012/01/24: - Set posed.
  23. Incredible MOC. It has a real Skies of Arcadia feel to it. All it needs now are some flying pirate ships with lots of propellers and cannons.
  24. I think the throwback to early 20th century alien invasion was great, but honestly, there's only so many round flying saucers you can make. I'd be interested to see what they could come up with if they expanded the theme to pulp era sci fi in general. That or an X-COM license.
