  1. Yes, but I believe the magic attack will still be the same, and doubled for elemental advantages.
  2. That's a very unique building you chose, and the representation is simple yet effective. Everything lines up perfectly, and the whole thing flows very well. The trans-clear slope pieces you used for the front window were perfect. Best of luck in the competition .
  3. I like it. The first thing that stuck out to me was the inside out poncho, very clever idea.
  4. IMO phoenixes should be pretty rare and not something you can just buy. Alexis did buy it from Nur, but that was because he didn't want it and it was given to him in Quest 18. Just my two cents.
  5. "I see... I have also encountered her, and have a weapon of Zoot myself." He drew Zoot's Reaper. "I'd be very careful if I were you about her... these powers that we wield are just a fraction of what she can do with Zoot."
  6. "It sounds like you've been on many interesting adventures, eheh. I was locked away for some time... and Eric and myself have infiltrated an arena and the fort of some pirates since we last met, Lawrence." "Yes, actually, eheh... you see, I don't usually drink but these chemicals made by men... they do help with staying alert in battle. And I've picked up a few throwing knives along the way." "Hehehe... forgive me, miss. It's been awhile since we last met, and it is hard to keep track of everyone I have met since..." He decided to simply give a bow to the fair elf. Hybros grinned. At least he wasn't the only one in Heroica who stayed away from alcohol. Hybros glared at the weapon. It seemed to call to him, much like Zoot's Reaper did when he first received it. Evil whispers... he broke his gaze and looked up at Tesni. "Chaos beast, you say? You haven't encountered that witch Wren, have you?" "Mm." Hybros wondered what sorts of spirits would accompany him if he were able to summon them. He turned his attention to the phoenix resting on the table. "That's quite the bird you have there. Phoenixes are very rare, from what I know. Where did you get it?"
  7. Looks good. I have to agree with what others have said, you should try a different hair piece of the same color. I really like the lighting on the second picture, maybe it would be good to have your first picture like that too? Anyways, good luck.
  8. Very nice! I've never seen this building before but from the picture your model looks like an accurate representation. I like the squarish arches on the windows and how the tiled floor is broken up by using different colors. Good luck in the contest.
  9. "Hybros is my name, miss. An Evoker you say? I hear those kind can summon spirits, eheh... which ones accompany you?"
  10. *cough* Hybros noted the woman's blade, and recognized the dark metal. "That's a Zoot's Plaything, isn't it?"
  11. Hello all, here is my entry for the Architecture contest: the Milwaukee Art Museum. Category: Architecture Architect: Santiago Calatrava Wikipedia Flickr Gallery With the MAM being very symbolic of my hometown, it was an obvious choice to build this one for the contest. It was somewhat difficult to come up with a solution for the wings, but I think the result was pretty good for this scale. Feel free to look at more pictures in the Flickr gallery (includes WIP shots). Thanks for viewing!
  12. Hybros took the bottle, but didn't drink from it. He hated such vile beverages, made by man. "Yes, I'm sure you could, old friend. I don't think I'm quite ready for that sort of training just yet, though. In what practices have you trained in? You know, little old me could teach even you a thing or two about stealth and... thievery. Eheh."
  13. Hybros stepped in the hall the next day, in a much better mood since he had gotten some rest. He saw Erdathcath leaving, and caughther by the arm. "Leaving so soon? Well, good luck, eheh." He let go and gave a small wave before turning his attention to a group of burly warriors, which included Eric, Boomingham, and another man who was leaving with Erdathcath and some others. He took a seat at the table. "Hello again, friends," he said with a weary smile. "It is good to see you again, Lawrence. And it seems you've got a new friend there, eheh." He noted the small fairy on his broad shoulder. "Tell me, how have you been? You seem much... stronger than before." "And Eric, heheheh... you look very different. How have you been since our quest together? You also seem stronger than just yesterday... have you been training with this Copper Fox I've been hearing about?". He then turned to the muscular woman. "I'm not sure if we've met before. I'm Hybros," he said with a nod. "Tesni is your name?"
  14. Stopping first to retrieve some gold from his hiding place, Hybros headed to the marketplace to restock. He went to Portia's first, taking out his Hinckwell goods. "Eheh, maybe you can find a use for these. How does 100 gold sound?" "Ooh, yes thank you very much dearie!" she replied, handing over the gold, bringing Hybros up to 1,088. "And was there anything else that you'd like?". Hybros then purchased 6 nostrums, meads, and smelling salts each, costing him 300 gold. He also bought 3 Grand Potions, 2 Holy Bombs, and a Phoenix Essence, totaling another 100 gold. He departed with 688 gold. Hybros went to Anwyl's next, drawing his new Banana Bladerang. "That's quite the weapon ye got there, little guy. Want me to sharpen it for ya?" "Yes please." Hybros waited patiently for the blacksmith to work on the Bladerang. He returned it at WP: 5 and the imp handed over 120 gold, leaving him with 568. He then headed for a forested area, ready for some well-needed sleep.
  15. "No thank you, I've made my decision, eheh. Speaking of which... excuse me." Hybros left the Hall to pick up some gold to spend at the marketplace. He was thankful for an excuse to get out of there, away from everyone. It felt like ages since he had last slept outside, and he intended to do so on this night. He would return to the Hall the next day, hopefully reuniting with Boomingham and some others.
  16. Hybros grunted and opened one eye at the sound of the elf's voice. He had hoped no one would notice him dozing, but that was his own fault for falling asleep in the Hall. "Fine, fine," he said with a yawn. "I see you've gotten some new attire, eheheh. I've heard that you can train with one of the Veterans, become stronger. What sorts of skills are you hoping to learn when you're strong enough?" Shopping... he still had to sell those Hinckwell goods. He remembered what Maurice had said, and wondered if it was the right decision. He wondered if anything he had done was right.
  17. Very nice work on this. The model is very true to the real thing, so exceptional job with the offsets. Does the window really light up like that?
  18. After leaving the Bonaparte fort, Hybros headed through the backstreets of Eubric. He was in no mood to be dealing with the crowds, and the taste of mead, nostrum, and smelling salts still lingered on his tongue should some street thugs try to steal the gold spilling over the imp's pockets. He headed for the beach first, and found a small cove beyond the shoreline. With shovel in hand, Hybros slowly dug out a hole in the sand, already exhausted from his previous quest. He dropped a sack full of gold into the hole, and covered it up again for later. Hybros then returned to Heroica Hall. At the doors he could hear it bursting with chatter from the other heroes. He very much wanted to find a nook near some trees to sleep in, but needed food even more. He opened the heavy doors with a sigh and stepped in, unnoticed by the crowd. He noted Erdathcath talking to the barmaid, probably about her son. He also spotted Boomingham and a nearly unrecognizable Eric, who appeared much cleaner and tamer since their journey. Not wanting to confront them, Hybros ordered a meal of vegetables and sought out a dark corner of the room where he could sit in peace. He quickly ate his meal sat back in his chair to doze off...
  19. Yes, thank you for the wonderful quest, Sandy. I had a great time participating. Even though it went on for a very long time, I felt that the heroes were justly rewarded, enough for two shorter quests at least. I liked the dungeon exploration setting, and also how different choices led to different rewards/consequences, i.e. the kitchen entrance for the Hinckwell wares and the automaton machine. The enemies were great, and also challenging. The only thing I did not like was the futuristic automatons and professor. Even for a fantasy world, they seemed a little far-fetched (although the Ji Pei's technology will play a part in Hybros' development). I am curious about other possibilities in the quest (such as, could we have gotten Sham to lower prices even more? And was there other loot?), but of course I can understand if you want to keep those a secret.
  20. I had no idea so many people were following Quest 15. Personally, I would've wanted to fight Reno, for the extra experience that would have pushed Hybros to level 15 (and the mead, nostrum, and smelling salts go to waste), but in the name of roleplaying I wanted to let Hybros take a stand for what he believed in, which is a first for him as a character. Plus, I think we could've gotten the gold from Reno if we had defeated him.
  21. "Hm.... would've liked to get my hands on that mythril..." Hybros mumbled as the gold jingled in his pockets. But it all seemed to have worked out for the best, and he was confident that he had made the right decision. What Reno and the Ji Pei did with this opportunity was yet to be seen, but Hybros needed that technology. He gave a hard stare to Reno, as if to say "we'll be seeing each other again soon", and turned towards the other party members. "I already have a good reputation with the Hinckwells, so I will be selling these goods," he said with a glare towards Maurice. Besides, he didn't want to tie himself down to any house just yet, not until he knew exactly what he needed...
  22. Are simple colored backgrounds allowed? You wouldn't believe how much of a pain it is to photograph an all white model.
  23. Hybros could not answer Maurice. It was a valid question, something that Hybros asked himself constantly. What was he doing here? What was his purpose as a hero? "Of course, why Maurice? Hehehe... I did not sign up for this quest because I felt some sort of kinship or loyalty to the Bonapartes. They're as bad as any other house of Eubric, and maybe no better than these pirates, who are looking for change in this system. As heroes, what are we supposed to do, exactly, hm? Do what our employers want, or do what's truly right? Are we heroes, or simply mercenaries for hire? Does Heroica really help people or just directly benefit the heroes and their employers? Questions you should be asking yourself, noble Maurice." The imp was shaking. He has never been so outspoken before, never cared so much. What had changed? Was he really a hero, or simply a mercenary himself, as he had accused Maurice of being?
  24. I don't really see the point in keeping it a secret. The more exposure time your entry has, the more likely it is to win, IMO. I know, winning isn't everything but I would very much like to see this MOC instead of being teased.
  25. "It sounds like we'd be able to get the extra gold either way, because if we defeat him, we get the key. But something tells me it won't be that simple, eheh... I'm still for letting him go, but perhaps Maurice has a point. While Reno's ideals are sound, his methods cause more harm than they solve. Is raiding other ships helpful to stop the heavy taxes?" Yet, Hybros needed Reno alive. It was important that he had access to the aoi and their technology, and Reno could be the only link to that. "Let's let him go free."
