Hybros rubbed his ears in pain from the screech. He grumbled at the carelessness of Alf. "Whatever that was, it wasn't good. And that's what we're here for. So let's take a look." Those were his first words of the quest to the strangers.
-
Not good. The barbarian was antsy and the party leader was headstrong and reckless. He predicted that problems would arise between the two conflicting personalities. At least he felt comfortable within the high rocky walls, with soft earth beneath him. With a sigh Hybros followed the party into the alcoves.
-
Hybros dismounted the cart, and paused for his companions to ask any questions. He wanted to see their reactions to the man first. He hadn't even introduced himself, let alone give any details as to what the problem was. He was curious about what kinds of questions his allies would ask before interrogating what he assumed to be the employer himself. OOC: I updated my stats after a trip to the market. Zoot's Reaper is now earth-elemental and Hybros is 150 gold lighter.

Hybros returned to the hall, and saw that he had been chosen for the quest in the quarry. Hopefully his new earth-elemental weapon would become useful in this environment. He noted who he would be questing with. He barely knew any of them. Alf, the barbarian who had seemed to annoy Eric upon their most recent return to the hall. Perhaps his brute strength would come in handy, but he did not seem to be the sharpest of heroes. An archer named Gligin, a shadowy and determined-looking rogue, Guts. And the leader, an orc knight, of which Hybros had never seen before. He hoped they all would be up to the task, in any case. It was time to say goodbye to Hybros's allies and friends. He gave a nod to Eric, who was downing a bottle of mead. This would be the first quest Hybros would be going on without his long-time friend, and that made him a bit uneasy. He had always relied on Eric's strength and cool and collected demeanor to look to, and he was unsure if any of his questmates could even compare to this. What was he thinking? Hybros was never this dependent on others, let alone strangers. No, he needed to rely on himself. Hybros gave a small wave to Boomingham, De'kra, and the rest before turning towards the doors. He pushed his way out, and boarded the rickety wagon.

After reading up on the elements and their properties in the library, Hybros headed out to the marketplace with his still heavy sack of gold. He stopped at Elphaba's for the first time in her two appearances at Eubric. He poured 100 gold from his sack onto the counter, and pointed to a garnet. The witch grinned and handed it down to the imp. Next, he headed to Anwyl's, to imbue the gem within his primary weapon. Hybros waited patiently for the smith to work the gem into Zoot's Reaper. "That's quite the scythe ye got there, little one," Anwyl said, returning the completed weapon. "I've seen o'coupla a' those kinds around here. Old magic, is what's in'em." Hybros simply nodded in thanks, and handed over 50 gold for the service. He received Zoot's Reaper. The dark-colored metal looked the same, but the weapon felt much heavier and solid, like the ground beneath him. At last, Hybros could wield the power of the earth, just as his ancestors did eons ago. Perhaps there was more than one way to contact his kind...

"Mm." Hybros was unsure if he understood the shade completely. Forms? "Maybe it's time for me to acquire one of those gems... it would certainly help in battle." With that, Hybros gave a quick nod to his friend as he headed out of the hall, aiming to do some research in the library before purchasing an elemental gem. After all, he had no idea how one would work.

"Planet? You must know a lot about other worlds. The only one I have ever come to know is this one..." Hybros couldn't even fathom the fact that there were other worlds besides Oliega. "Yes, I'm fine thank you...." he said, eager to avoid discussing his philosophical meanders. Hybros noted De'kra's Fang Dagger, which seemed to glow with fire. "You mentioned someone you knew... of fire? Would that have anything to do with that dagger of yours there?"

I also enjoy the tale, though I prefer Christopher Walken's interpretation:
-
"The technology is magnificent and terrible, eheh. But I wouldn't say they are anything like you or I. We encountered creatures made solely of metal and the secret that the Ji Pei possess to bring them to life. Monsters of steel, more proficient than any type of soldier I have seen in my years here... and a ship that floated not in the sea, but the sky." Hybros thought of the possibilities of this technology again. Yet, something was bothering him. Something that Maurice had said... armies of steel. He recalled the past of his species, and how they were evicted from the surface world from machines of war. The advanced innovations of humans and other races had collided with the unity of the imps and their environment, and how they skillfully wielded the power of the earth and trees. The two powers seemed to contrast perfectly, in a sort of sick harmony. But were they really equal? Was one right and the other wrong? The lone imp became lost in his thoughts for a moment before realizing that De'kra was looking to him eagerly, for more information. "Eheh, yes, the Ji Pei are very advanced. I don't remember any symbols, but a species known as the aoi, as well as humans, are responsible for the creation of their... technology."
-
I was able to find out players' actions, but only on nights that they used them. The distinction between this and a role cop, I believe, is that a role cop can find out the role of someone regardless of whether they use it or not.
-
"I see... it's good that you're remembering things from your past." Hybros paused for a moment. He recalled that De'kra and the others had traveled deep underground. Perhaps they had seen something that could help Hybros learn more about his people. Deciding against asking, he added "My quest went well. We encountered some strange creatures and technology in Jolly Roger's Grotto, as well as members of the Ji Pei family. I hope to meet them again sometime." Hybros decided to not tell De'kra about how he let Jolly Roger go free.
-
Hybros noted the new arrivals to the hall. There were many strangers, but among them was De'kra. Hybros approached his friend. "It's been a while, De'kra, heheh... how have you been? Tell me about your most recent quest."

This is a very accurate rendition of the building. I like how it follows the style of the Sears Tower and Empire State Building sets. The trans-green pieces are very eye catching, as well.

Architecture Contest: Old Royal Palace (now Greek Parliament)
JimBee replied to Theo's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very nice work. I love the small details provided by the hinge pieces on the roof, as well as the white columns. However, it is a little large for an Architecture set in my opinion. On second thought, I'm beginning to realize the difference between Landmark and Architecture scales. This would fit right in with sets like the Robbie House. Good work. -

And I was almost excited for another TinyP-hosted game. -
Swils, I personally liked how Thormanil looked before with his helmet and previous face, but that's just me. I also liked the twin axes, but the staff seems to fit the role of Shaman better.
-
Joke? The offer still stands. grocery shopping! It seems that the staff/fellows have changed everything to LEGO reports a loss.

Thank you for allowing me to play, though I also have some harsh criticisms. I enjoyed most of my time playing, but to me it seemed like the entire game was extremely unbalanced. Starting with this: It's a huge mistake and against the rules to base roles, affiliations, or anything else on characters and figures. All roles are supposed to be assigned randomly. Also, the town had all of these investigative roles, and as Rufus pointed out, it was nearly impossible for either scum team to win. The conditions for merging teams were needlessly complicated, and the Agents didn't really have a good counter (i.e. a killing role). With an organized town like the one in this game, the scummies didn't stand a chance. And why was Bob a scum paranoid doctor (that could also kill and janitor...)? The role made absolutely no sense. I mean, it didn't make sense for a paranoid doctor to be on the scum team. So yes, I outed my role to Bob and for some reason he told def about it... Bob: Why did you tell def about my role? I was really on the fence about trusting him at the time, so by keeping it a secret you could've just swept my death under the rug. Def: Job well done on this game, I'd go as far to say that this has been your best yet. You did a great job organizing the town and also staying alive. On the dead writeboard I was cheering for you to lynch Bob. Remember when I said in PM, the night that I died, that if that was the case I was sure Bob was scum?

Hybros pushes his way to the front of the crowd at the quest board, and signs his name under Quest #27. Why not? All he knew is that he needed to get out of here.

Never got around to building a Part 2 to Battle of Theed, but at least I got my one in. Great entries everyone.

Architecture Contest: the Young Vic 2006
JimBee replied to caperberry's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The fact that the whole thing opens might not be very traditional Lego Architecture-wise, but that doesn't mean it isn't awesome! Very cool stuff, caperberry. This building was unknown to me (like a lot of the ones entered in this contest so far), but it looks very accurate at such a small scale. Good luck! -
Wow, that is impressive. At first I really thought the illusion was photoshopped in, but you can see how the individual bricks make the face. Very artistic.

Architecture Contest: The Parliament, Budapest
JimBee replied to Dornbi's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looks very good, Dornbi. It looks very accurate yet simple enough that it would fit right in with other Architecture sets. One suggestion I have is that you might consider using more round pieces to form the center dome. Initially I figured thismight work, but it might be too small for this scale. Best of luck in the contest. -
