Don't know if anyone shared this but I saw this on Instagram this morning. Even though I don't really use Instagram for LEGO stuff it stood out a bit.
-
I didn't say it wasn't iconic or a legend. It's just an odd choice on LEGO's part since it isn't a recent model like every other LEGO supercar set has been, and it isn't quite as old as things like the MINI Cooper or Volkswagon bus. I'm not complaining about them making a set of it.
-
It's kind of surprising they're doing the F40 of all cars. It's certainly not a recent model, and if there are more geometrically-interesting older models as well.

Someone should save those videos using one of the many YouTube downloading tools out there in case the videos get taken down per copyright policy.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. What heat do you recommend setting for the iron before I go attempt it. I'd rather not set fire to it.
-
I've found that some of my LEGO sails have curls or wrinkles in them. I was wondering if ironing and maybe starching them is safe, or if there's a better method to straighten them out. Any suggestions are appreciated. :)

It wouldn't take that long for LEGO to reproduce the stickers (or printing if the pieces were printed), as seen with the misspelled tile in the BTTF LEGO Ideas set. It'd take longer to secure any required licenses with Honda.
-
I'd rather a BMW i8 lol but I see what you're saying. It'll definitely be interesting to see if the first wave does well leading to more automobile manufacturers becoming a part of the theme.

One thing I'm surprised nobody mentioned yet is that it sucks that the McLaren-Mercedes set is already out of date, since the team is now McLaren-Honda. :(

Thanks a bunch, and I didn't even know that wiki still existed haha, I used to be an admin on it lol

Awesome display! I love the cars. That's possibly the best LEGO Audi R8 I've seen done at a small scale.
-
Awesome, thanks! :)

Woah. Is it possible for you to save that email as a PDF and link to it, or at the very least screenshot it? The reason I ask is I'd love to be able to cite that for Brickipedia, plus I'd be interested in the whole response from LEGO and their exact wording.

Probably not... He never would have needed a DX suit because by the time he had a dragon, he already had the ZX suit.
-
Definitely looks to be light bluish grey, or possibly silver.
-
Don't know how credible that description is though. Hasn't it been made clear since the first season that dragons are good and their powers embraced by the ninja?
-
May as well since the prices aren't officially from LEGO. Done.

There's nothing Greenpeace can do about that then, which isn't a bad thing. In some cases it might even be something that McLaren-Mercedes or Porsche requires, if it's in those racing teams' contracts with said oil companies. If ExxonMobil or Shell had some rule in the contract saying "our logo has to be on all officially licensed merchandise for your racing team", then LEGO would be required to abide by that. This example is not necessarily true since I know none of the details of the licensing contracts, but it's just a hypothetical situation. I don't think that sets a bad example to what Greenpeace's campaign was about (which I never supported in the first place) since the sets aren't promoting any oil companies rather than the cars and their manufacturers.

I'd change them on Brickset but it'd be nice to know sources for both Brickset's current prices and those that amazingbricks shared so I could determine which is more likely accurate. Or on the other hand just wait for official prices.

As dr_spock said, you don't need a relationship to display a logo. Since Mobil1 has the relationship with Porsche and McLaren-Mercedes, LEGO doesn't have to do anything on that part unless ExxonMobil says otherwise. However if the set weren't a Porsche or McLaren-Mercedes license but just a generic Mobil1 race car set, then LEGO would need a license with ExxonMobil.

Glad Birds passed seeing as it was the first LEGO CUUSOO project I ever supported. Big Bang Theory should be nice too.
-
YES. I want that to happen in the next wave of Speed Champions so much. But my point is LEGO never had a relationship with these companies. Their logos were only present on Ferrari sets because those logos are part of the Ferraris that the sets were based on. It's just a matter of making the car realistic, not about who has a business relationship with who.

LEGO has had official partnerships with both Adidas (there have been actual LEGO soccer balls as well as Adidas being featured in many sports sets) and McDonald's (LEGO is a common subject of kid's meal toys as well as McDonald's branded sets) though.
-
Mobil 1 is a sponsor of Porsche's and McLaren-Mercedes' racing team (and several other teams I'm sure), not a partner with LEGO. This is no different than how you'll see stickers for things like Bridgestone, Pirelli, etc, though LEGO isn't partnered with those companies.

Good thing there's already an official minifigure of him!
