  1. Seems like your are off to a good start It is great to see a minifig scale AT-AT MOC. The official models are too small and many of the (very nice) MOCs out there are too big (for minifigs that is ) I assume you use the 22.5m - 23m height estimate to decide the size of the model compared to the height of a minifig? There is a blueprint of the AT-AT here - but I assume you already have one
  2. As a long time Trekkie, I must admit that this model made my heart skip a beat. It is very very, well done. Please don't tell anyone I said that or I'll probably be thrown out of the SW forum By the way - what are the measurements? How many bricks? And can I get the instructions?!
  3. I'm a Citizen! - A Citizen on Patrol?!

  4. Lol - well, that is why I'm building my models in the living room
  5. Nice wing damage! Thinking of modding my new 9492 to look like this
  6. Then you can perhaps understand why I'm not very productive while in my "room". I'm just sitting there, gazing at the models, imagining the size for hours on end - going from DS to minifig and back again
  7. I was eagerly expecting the 6 stud Nebulon B - and I must say you have pulled it off very nice Thinking about making ten of each of your creations and making a huge space battle scene Still looking forward to the 3 stud Corellian Corvette
  8. That is so cool - and cute! Very well done - and nice smoke effect from the ion blaster Perhaps the neck is bit too thin? In any case this is a magnificent creation and I hope TLG will take a look at this - nudge, nudge
  9. This TIE is very cool. I am mostly into UCS but I had to buy this - simply because it looks so #! cool! I like that Lego has tried to make it look a bit more a real TIE than simply just a toy - using light bley instead of blue + the wing shape and detailing is pretty much spot on (considering the limitations at this size)
  10. Regarding that lever, inside the instruction booklet one of them is actually turned backwards - otherwise nothing is changed on the cockpit - as far as I remember I have changed the postioning of the piping next to the radar dish though. In the original design the pipes/cabels that is supposed to connect to the base of the dish were just placed next to it - leading nowhere. I dont know why the designer did this but it was a very easy fix - moving the piping 2 studs Regarding the DSII I got it 6 months ago on eBay - new sealed for 370 USD. It was a very lucky bid - the auction ended July 4th so the other bidders were out celebrating I guess I have 13 UCS models many of them which I have tweaked/modded
  11. I think the stand beneath the model is some sort of minifig elevator. And yes, It is too big for minifigs - at least if you consider the 22,5m height the real deal - which I do But, in any case I think it is very, very cool Perhaps I should begin building my own - does anyone know where I can find instructions?
  12. Thanks for the comments guys If you look at the movies, you see that the Tantive IV just fits in the main hanger bay of an ISD, while the falcon is a tiny doodle on the bridge - also in ROJ you see the Falcon flying past a Corellian Corvette - however the shot only lasts a second or so - so you really have to look carefully Hehe, if that was the case I'd be 3 meters tall - and cast in Avatar 2 That is what the small scale models are for Perhaps I'll make that poster one day About the X-Wing, the Falcon is already at minifig scale, so what I could do is moc an X-wing in minifig scale as well - somewhere between the system model and the UCS in size
  13. Looking good! If you could post a few before shots it would be much appreciated
  14. Absolutely amazing work! I recommend clicking the link, the are some truly stunning mocs there I wonder if that AT-AT is cavegod's design - with an enterior?
  15. Hehe, no, the Death Star is standing on a table I'm just looking down on it
  16. Looks great, but can we have closeup of the legs?
  17. Great review I'm actually not into Ninjago, but this review was entertaining none the less Funny "comic" at the end
  18. One of my favorite aspects of UCS is their sheer size. Comparing a large UCS model with mini scale model that often comes with it can capture my gaze for hours on end I got the idea that if I had a scale model for the blockade runner I could actually go all the way from Death Star II to a minifig - here is what that journey looks like The second Death Star: 160km in diameter with the 19km Executor next to it (I have modded the mini to fit in scale) - Not the most interesting angle but it captures the size difference The 19km Executor with an 1600m ISD next to it (this mini is also modded to a length of 13 studs) The 1600m ISD (Imperial I Class) with the 150m Tantive IV next to it (again modded to scale) The 150m Tantive IV (with modded engine section and a few other mods) next to the 26,7m Falcon (in scale at 16studs - the modded Tantive IV is 3 studs longer than the stock model). As a bonus I discovered that the X-wing from the 2011 Advent Calendar were also in scale with the Blockade Runne Close up of the Falcon. This model is 90% based on Tim Goddards (Rogue Bantha) work - I'm a fan Lastly the Falcon - nothing special here (see if you can find the small mods ). I have placed a few sandtroopers next to it. It is supposed to be built to scale with a minifig - although a bit on the large side I would say Thus we have gone from the Death Star II all way down to a minifig through the magic of scale models
  19. Minifigs will continue to evolve. However I think the 2012 models represent the maximum amount of detailing I would like. The new sandtroopers and Death Star troopers are frikkin awesome, but I think more detaling would be crazy - unless they make the standard minifig mold more detailed - and that I wouldn't like! :)
  20. I completely agree with you critique of the mandibles, and I think your mod is a vast improvement Here is a pic of a scale model - for reference Falcon
  21. Interesting discussion I think the same discussion goes for all Lego model work. Personally I'm am into Star Wars UCS modeling. When I look at the non-Lego model sets, I must admit that they often "leave me cold". Don't get me wrong, I think many of them look über cool, but for me they don't have the same magic because they are created from ultra custom pieces. With Legos the result will never be perfect - thus a lego model is always an ongoing process - a quest to minimize imperfections if you will. And for me it is the quest that is the fun part Should I buy a non-lego model I think I would be much less forgiving should it have any shortcomings - and the only way to fix it would be to "break the mold". I think that making the "custom" custom parts is perhaps the challenge for many model builders - but that is not for me Thus, in conclusion I must admit that I am perhaps a bit biased - against non-lego models
  22. Windu is gonna break his lipstick for sure, using it like that!
  23. Great interview, very informative! According to brcikset there is almost 200 SW sets now - KimTs apartment must be jam packed Can't wait until you interview me Although I wont give up any of my LEGOs!
  24. Just played Rebellion (Supremacy) - the old turnbased PC Star Wars strategy game and all these classic EU ships are there :D A great game by the way - from around '98 :) Nice try Fallen :) Not too many options at that scale :)
  25. Awesome rendition of everybodys farvourite bounty hunter! Makes me want to make my own ;) I vote you make a Stormtrooper next! :D
