Here is a little update. As I said before there will be model teamed equipment. Although I planned to take a break from this truck and build something smaller in the meantime, I received a parcel from Bricklink and - finally - I could make a fire extinguisher. Here is the result: I hope you like it :) I also completed 80 % of my other MOC soon to be published here on EB:) -
TECHNIC Sets from 2010
Fistach replied to LordGalewind's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
setechnic could use english ... model seems to be very good although 'mnot going to buy it, especially for 160 € -
Dluders there are certain very important differences between two remotes With old one you can control only two trains. Once you stop pushing the levers the train halts. With the new one you not only can steer with 8 different trains but also you can set one of 7 speeds from 0 to full speed and when you change the channel the train keeps running so you don't have to push any kind of lever all the time.

[WIP] Airport fire engine
Fistach replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes I did. When I had a frame weighting 1750 g I added two additional weights of 2,5 kg each (5 kg in total) over the two front and two rear axles what resulted in combined weight of over 6,7 kg (!!) and the medium motor had little problems with steering. It worked but the motor was close to it's limits. Therefore it was changed afterwards to XL motor for improved quality of steering, no overheating of the motor and better performance. The propulsion of the vehicle works flawlessy. I also needed a 12th motor and If I didn't use XL motor for steering I would have to buy another medium motor for turntable and arm rotation. I also like your works - the uber extreme excavator is awesome. Up until last week I didn't have much time and I need to make up for topics I missed here on EB. -
[WIP] Airport fire engine
Fistach replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I forgot to write that it's weight is around 3500 g right now. I will add the arm - around 500 g and cabin bricks etc next 500 - 600 g and the total weight should not exceed 5000 g. -

Here are some more new photos: I decided to add one more pneumatic function - cabin doors - although the opening mechanism needs huge amount of work yet. -
I like train although I don't like trains sold as a sets. What I would prefer and what I think would bring TLC a bigger income was to sell train cars locomotives separately. It not only would allow to design the train of your own design (the cars, locomotives) but also would allow more people to have trains - the whole set is rather expensive and some people would have to collect cash for a longer period of time. We also need to remember that someone may already have a train cargo station - either 4555 or one of owns design - and would prefer spending the cash for another car. We have plenty of trucks already therefore I would like in the set more minifigs. The crane is badly designed - operator can't see the container... From this set I would purchase the: - locomotive - tanker and container wagons - truck with containers - tracks Rest of a cash I would spend on next tanker more tracks and parts to build 2 cars of my own. The triangular part is not new though. As far as I'm concerned it's introduced in the space theme with the 6982 set

I've already included the flashing lights mechanism in my previous MOCs but this one is a bit different because it uses two PF switches to change lights alternately. You can see the flashing mechanism in the back of the truck (on left side of the picture where is black z40 tooth bevel. I will publish the design soon. I'm basing my construction on Oshkosh's 4500 engine although I added some functionality here and there and I'm not a fan of copying the real life vehicles. I just want to build something of my own design :) -
Here is the newest picture of current MOC I'm making: It will feature: 1s and 2nd steered axles with ackermann geometry 3rd and 4th driving axles All axles with pendular suspension Rotation and raising of two section cannon arm Tilting the cannon Remotely controlled engine hatch raising Rotating small cannons under the cabin pneumatically (manually controlled) lowering of the hatch of undercabin's cannons Manually turned on/off lights Flashing lights (newer mechanism!) Working cabin doors Working cargo/equipment doors. Automatic compressor 12 motors, 6 switches, 2 BBs, 4 IRRs, 9 sets of lights and extension cables, 6 pneumatic cyllinders - over 9 metres of wires and few more of hoses. In addition it will have lots of details like: cabin interior, firefighting equipment etc. Most of the weight of the vehicles is placed right above the axles. It's done on purpose for more grip and less bending of the middle section. More updates soon :)

Hello again. I had some problems with my studies and I completly had no time to build anything. But yesterday I managed to create a road and rail flatbed van I will use in my train scene. Please note it is still in WIP phase:) The cabin is based on the recently released city lamp man car. I liked it's simple design and nice look. I obviously added the railroad wheels that can be lowered althoug I need to purchase one more. My forth wheel from the old set seems to be missing :( On both sides there are containers - on the right there is a string and on the left there are tools. It also has some tools in the back of the car. At the back is the knuckleboom crane - i think that the last section should be shorter - but maybe not? In addition I put there two outriggers which I think should be redesigned. What are your opinions about the car? What should I add or change? note: First post in topic has been updated.

Please upload bigger photos - at least 1280*1024 because these are too small for such a huge MOC

I'm sure I'm not going into uber-realism. My favorite theme is still Technic and I don't wanna spend too much of my cash for detailing although I want cars to be fully recognisable. I mean their application, what type of a car it is but not very detailed aspects like model name or company it was made by :)
-
I see. It just looks a bit ... different but it's design is still perfect. Thank you for additional information!
-
I really think that it is of outstanding design but I have one question - these cars were so low?
-
well I don't know if these type of cars have a red lights. I will have to look it up at google. Thank you for an idea! That's why I began this topic :) Well the panels are there for stickers with details about the car - I'm sorry I've completely forgotten to include this information. I will make 6 studs wide containers but it will be shorter that distance from one panel to another - or I will remove the panel and stick information on SNOT parts on both sides of a car. Thank you for following. I hope you'll enjoy the project as I will :) Thank you all for the comments. I will try to upload some more photos over the weekend :)

This is front steered pendular axle design designed to withstand heavy weights. It is very compact - only 88 mm in width (without half-shafts). With 8421 wheels (or 8258 with half bush) you can make a front suspension only 104 mm wide (but you will have to change 5.5L axles to 3L with stop. WIth 8295 telehandler wheels I managed to make the width of only 160 mm! Wheel angle is very big - I'm really happy about it. I tested it and it still was working under the force of 5 kg! Although you will have to change long pins from without the friction to with friction for better stability. Anothe pro is that pivot point is in the same plane as half-shafts thus allow making of a very good and simple propulsion axles (it's waiting until I get some time to publish it!) to fit exactly with the steered ones of my design. It has the semi-Ackermann geometry. Although in the narrowest one you can' see it well but if you use longer beams for wider axles you will clearly see the difference. (By semi I mean that we only have a 9, 11 etc liftarms bu t - althoug I didn't calculate it - you would probably need e.g. the 8,73 studs long beam to make it perfect). The axle was designed for veicles with more than opne steering axle. The pivot axle and turning axle are separate and this allows to make reduction / multiplications to get different wheel angles at different axles. You don't have to build separate reducers/multiplicators between the axles! If you plan to build a heavy vehicle with multiple steering axles you can add another motor and steer the axles from both sides. The suspension is made only with regular technic parts. Here are the instructions to build the suspension. Critiques an dcomments encouraged. I hope you will find it useful. Required parts: IInstructions: Instrukcja wraz z komentarzem. It's better to slide the pins from top. Axlepins are here to block the steering. If you want to reduce the wheel angles you can add a bush on the axle pins. If you want to use 8421 or 8258 wheels you will have to redisgn this part. It's a piece of cake! 3L i 4L axles you need to slide from the side (sorry for this comment but maybe some newbies to Lego Technic will read this therefore I thought this note may be useful to them. Instead of 7&9 liftarms you can use 9&11, 11&13 and 13&15 liftarms. Put some thing liftarms at the top to finish it. You can use all traditional gear ratios: 3:1 5:3 1:1 3:5 1:3. happy building!

Thank you for the reply. I think it had too few details for a train car. I don't want to build an exact copy of a real car but I want it to look like a train car. This is what I've got now:

UPDATE 4: Final version of the diesel engine FINAL VERSION Check the topic below. Photos with other cars will be published when I get some more tracks. UPDATE 4: Final version of the flatbed car FINAL VERSION Visit this topic to see the details and full gallery UPDATE 3: Road and rail flatbed van Please note it is still in WIP phase:) I've just spotted I had mounted the front bumper up side down. Sorry :) The cabin is based on the recently released city lamp man car. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OLD UPDATES I always wanted to have a Lego train but it was too expensive for my parents and I didn't even bother them and didn't say it loud that I want a train set. The train sets are very ugly to me therefore I decided to build one of my own. The project is a long term and expensive. I would like to finish it by the end of the year. I purchased some axles, bumpers and magnets therefore it's just the beginning. Goal The goal is to make a freight train consisting of 3 cars and locomotive. Two cars will have 4 axles and one car will have only 2 axles. In addition to the train there will be a cargo station added following the construction of the train. Although I have not yet decided which locomotive I will construct and what two cars I will make but I'm sure one car will be a 4 axle flatbed car with two containers. This is my first train and I'm totally out of my depth therefore I ask for your help, critics and comments. Flatbed car, 4axles Version 1: This is what I've got so far: 1x8 dark bley tiles are designed to hold the containers - which will be added in the future - and will not be seen. What do you think of this design? What details shall I add to make it look more like a real car? Version 2: I added some details to the existing car: Advanced critique and comments encouraged :)

[MOC] Snow plow
Fistach replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have to :) I need some parts (motors) for next MOC. I already have working chassis therefore I think I should finish it in a month - I also have all the parts I need for it :) Except few liftarms and a string :) -
[MOC] Snow plow
Fistach replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You can check my other moc's or see my video if you don't know what to do with flashing lights (althoug I invented more effective and using less parts system for that) here: I wanted to make a police cruiser once but I still need to gather some parts to do that and I had also postponed it after starting the construction of my next vehicle:) I will try to make some photos while disassembling the vehicle. We I heared about the snowfalls in germany :) Don't worry spring is comming ;) I also was in Italy during previous week and I saw some awesome equipment there and also in AUstria, Germany and Switzerland:) I took lots of photos. -
[MOC] Snow plow
Fistach replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
thank you guys for the opinions:) -
SNOW PLOW GALERIA This is my next creation. At first I wanted to model the cabin of a real truck but I quickly found out I don't have enough white parts at my disposal. Dane Techniczne: Dimensions (without plow and spreader) Length: 470 mm Width: 144 mm Height: 220 mm Plow: Width: 208 mm Weight: 2890 g In MOC I used: 1x XL 5 x M 1 x BB 7 x lights 2 x IR 4 x extension wire (3x 200 mm, 1 x 500 mm) 3 x PF switch 2 x large pneumatic cyllinder 1 x small pneumatic cyllinder 2 x clutchgear 2 x pneumatic valve 3/3 2 x small pump 4 x yellow shock absorbers 1 x blue rubber belt I used much less parts than in my previous MOC Telehandler. Functions: 1) Drivetrain, steering, independent suspension on first axle. Axles 2 and 3 have pendular suspension and four wheels on each axle 2) Lowering/raising of the plow 3) Plow tilting 4) working spreader 5) Flashing lights (3 pairs) 6) Compressor with autovalve 7) working cabin doors Drivetrain: Chassis is made of bricks with little amount of liftarms. It's 6 studs wide - except the location of XL motor where it is 8 studs wide. Turning radius is quite short therefore the truck is very manouverable. Plow: I created this MOC to test the pneumatics. This is my first MOC with compressor and autovalves. The circuit is powered by two small pumps - that allows precise control of the cyllinders. Salt spreader: Is working while the truck is moving. Flashing lights: The truck is equipped with 3 flashing lights. On top of the cabin, at the back and one on the plow. More photos Movie
