  1. I would agree that it is a good thing. Lego has its base themes that are a standard i.e. city and injects it's licensed themes until they run their course. It keeps them relevant with current goings on and continues to bring in new customers as well as satiating it's diehard fans. Diversity is the key to staying in the forefront of business. The only problem I see and it really isn't a problem is for fans having to decide what sets they will buy. Evolve or die. LMW
  2. My story is probably similar to a lot of adults as I built Lego as a child (I'm 47 now) and discarded my desire as I became a teen and my interests went other places. I picked it back up again about 7 years ago when my son received his first set (Hailfire droid) that he was to young for. I built it for him and put it back together numerous times as he vigorously played with it. He developed a passion for it a few years later and we started buying new sets and huge lots of bricks off EBay. We now have a giant collection of bricks that I spend most of my time organizing and he builds. I tend to over do things so when I say a ton of bricks, I mean a TON of bricks. He enjoys it and it makes me happy to see him have fun with it. One day I will build more but now it's just him. LMW
  3. I ordered my Christmas present....The Millennium Falcon...sweet and 300 points
  4. I just ordered the latest iteration of the MF Saturday when it was double points. It is my Christmas present from my wife!
  5. I am as well looking forward to seeing the progress. I bricklinked Jabba's Sail Barge. (I say that as it's the first one I did) and it was a great challenge. I never documented it like this and enjoy seeing the guys that do. LMW
  6. That is awesomely creative! It puts a cool twist on both themes. Definitely outside the proverbeal box thinking
  7. Do they have a position for "guy who sits around and builds lego all day?" I would love a job like that. LMW
  8. It's an app that allows you to view certain message boards. They have to register on TT before you can access them LMW
  9. We need one in the Florida panhandle!! LMW
  10. I have more time on the computer than I do building and that helps me get my fix for lego. I would love to build more but school and work have been taking the majority of my time over the last several years. To the question at hand. I got back into lego because my boys have become interested in it. My six year old is totally engrosed in it. My interest will probably wane if he decides to abandon it but we'll see when the time comes. To be honest I have never had time to devote to building my own creations. Maybe once I do then I will do it more. LMW
  11. I have no experience with it but my 6 year old does those kinds of things and uses the Lego movie maker on an ipad. He gets alot of enjoyment out of it and his movies are getting pretty good. LMW
  12. I use it for 5 or six other sites. I like it. LMW
  13. I concur. Pictures are much better LMW
  14. Nice, You inspired me to do that same set. The reason is that I get very little time to build anything and when I do it is sets with my sons. So a mini-rama is a great idea! Thanks, LMW
  15. I would like to chime in and say collectively you all that got invites completely stink. I don't have a store close to me to even go to let alone get invited to. I am so very jealous as I have only been to two stores ever (Disney and Philly) and they were awesome! Enjoy your event. LMW
  16. What a great resource. Maybe this should be pinned? LMW
  17. I'm in the same boat. I have mine but don't do much building as I am always doing other things (football, baseball, cub scouts) but when I do get to do anything with bricks it is usually sorting and helping my boys build. One day I will be able to do more of what I want but right now, it's for them. LMW
  18. I have only bought a couple sets on EBay and they were fine. I have bought numerous lego lots on EBay and had some good and some so-so. My BL buying experience has always been good. Any issues with missing pieces have always been addressed. Now in my early days of selling on BL, I screwed up with some parts (colors mostly) but have always refunded the buyer. LMW
  19. I say break them up and build something else. That is what they are for. If you decide later you want to rebuild those sets then you can. LMW
  20. Very nice and quite inspirational. LMW
  21. I had legos when I was 8 or 9 (77-78) and lost interest. I didn't pick it up again until I had kids which was 2004-05. Now I can't stop. I build with/for them but I also like to build myself. Unfortunately I have so many other things going on that I rarely get time for myself and build with them, which is fine. LMW
  22. I am an AFOL that recently got back into it (2009) from my childhood years. I am not a fan of http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=5002514-1. It just seems boring to me. It's the only set I have seen that I don't want to buy. LMW
  23. I bought two sets as well, one with figs and one without. They weren't to do this mod but I think I will play off yours and mod mine up as well. I also have one Jabba's palace without figs but will pick one up with figs later. Sweet mod! Lego Man of War
  24. I don't know what is more idiotic, the article or the rag that printed it. I wouldn't even waste my time...oh, I already did. LMW
