REVIEW: 6865 Captain America's Avenging Cycle
Legoman of War replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have always been a huge fan of the Avengers and the Capt and Ironman are my two favorites. I think this set lacks imagination as there is really nothing that sets the motorcycle apart from any other that Lego makes. The aliens are ok and the glider thing is pathetic. I bought it because my son wanted it but don't think I would have if it wasn't for that. LMW -
Another great creation. I have recently started following some of your builds and copying some of your techniques. You have great creations. I just wish I had the time and talent to build that way. Awesome! LMW

This probably doesn't help but my laptop is behind my building table. Before I had a building table, I built on my desk infront of my laptop. If you need to have paper copies then copy the instructions to a disc and take them to a printing place and have them printed. It's not that expensive and you can keep the instructions with your other sets for future building. LMW

Opening a LEGO store, one question first...
Legoman of War replied to Diggydoes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have no experience at it but will give an opinion. It would be my take that TLG would not frown upon it because they have no control over it. It is a retail business that sells their product. That said they don't have to support it i.e. sell you sets at a discount or quantities of bricks at a bulk rate etc. Additionally, your overhead is much greater with an actual storefront vice a online store. You have to consider your target audience, location and overhead cost. It is my opinion that an independantly owned lego store is not cost effective. Now if it was a hobby store that had many things that can also appeal to that same type crowd then it could work. I don't know where you are located but if it's in the US, the economy has taken a big chunk out of that fun money people spend on things other than necessities. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but the reality is that it is not a good time to venture into an endeavor that has a relatively small margin for error. If anyone would like to fill my cup, it is more than half empty. LMW -

I an completely empathize with you as a Dad of 43 whos sons is obsessed with lego, I have come back to it myself and have been collecting and building. I enjoy it mostly because my boys do but I remember when i was young and it was my obsession as well. I would just like to have time to myself to build my own creations. But soon that will happen. Check out some of the MOC's here and on flickr. There is also a tutorial on building a village stickied at the top of this area. Nice start! LMW

While at Walmart picking up a few groceries this morning, I went by the toy isle and on the clearance rack ws the Ninjago Scull Truck. It had been opened and resealed so I wasn't to crazy about it. I went to the counter and had them give me a price check and it rang up at $29.90. I still wasn't very excited as probably the MF's were gone and possibly other parts. I asked the guy if that was the best he could do and he said he could do it for $20. I took it. I got home and opened it up and could see it had been opened as things were a bit of disarray but none of the bags had been opened and the giant wheels and tires were there! So a $60 set for $20!! Can't wait to get it built. I am not a huge fan of Ninjago but the truck looked pretty cool. LMW

I think I am going to do this for all the bulk legos I buy as some are questionable to where they have been. Don't get me wrong, I clean them but usually with hot, soapy water. LMW

I am just new here but want to echo the New Years good wishes to all. LMW

I have sets I build with my kids and sets I build for myself. The sets i build with my kids end up being broken up and used for parts by them and me. I put stickers on both as that is what they were designed for. I don't have the luxury of buying multiples of the same set for parts. LMW

As we speak, I have Cyber Defender remotely fixing me up. It was a zero access virus. Pretty nasty from what the guy said but that could be part of the hook to keep the subscription. Primary laptop should be back up shortly. I also am not saying it's this site. I was just talking about the large amount of virus infections lately. LMW

As a fan of 50's style garages and gas stations (hot rods are my other hobby) I can truly appreciate yours. They ae great. The yellow hot rod is outstanding as well! Great work. LMW

Everyone is a tough guy behind a keyboard. My opinion on this is similar to most. Lego is expanding their target demographic to cater to more girls. Nothing wrongwith it. If you don't like it, don't support it. If enough people don't support it, it won't survive. Simple supply and demand. I would buy it for my daughter if she liked it. One thing I found interesting in the survey here was that 61% of people that took the survey Don't have children! Funny, It kind of skews the perspective. LMW

I;m not saying a virus/malware came from this site as I am on here alot. I just know that there have been quite a few people infecte by the Vista Internet Security 2012 malware lately. LMW

"But the problem is many times the employees are so overworked or need to keep the line moving that they just don't give a crap and take any items as they come." It's the don't give a crap that is most likely it. It's not skilled labor.* *This is no offense to anyone that works for Wal-mart, relative, spouse or friend either. LMW

I would guess by your question you are referring to building sets. I would think there isn't to much creativity involved based on the fact that it is an established set. I follow the instructions as I usually build with my two boys and I want them to learn to pick up instructions and don't just dive right in. If it is creating a MOC or something, I still use references to help get the effect I am looking for. (Not that I have done much as I am a newly refound AFOL) I use this site along with several others and a couple books I have to help me. If I missed your question then........nevermind. LMW

My primary laptop just was stricken with the Vista Internet Security 2012 malware/virus and I have to operate from my network until I get it fixed tomorrow. Completely disagree with the not needing the anti virus as most people don't know enough about their computer or how it works to keep it clean. Additionally, viruses and worms can come in email which aren't always apparent. Just my $.02 LMW

I opened this thread to add my input and it seems there are several others that share my opinion: Blacksmith's Attack. I had to buy several as my son had to have several "extra" pieces. LMW

What was the last movie you watched?
Legoman of War replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
The Adventures of TinTin. Awesome is all I can say. A must see.The animation is excellent. It is almost to the point of reality. The story line is really good as well. We took our three kids to see the 3D version and enjoyed it. LMW -
Very Nice! It will be helpful for me since I'm new at all this LMW

Hello All, I am a new member. I have been a lurker for a bit but decided to join this page as it seemed to interst me the most. I built legos as a kid and now as a father of three, have been building again with my kids. I have also started buying sets for myself as well as bulk legos for building. I work full time and go to school so my building is sporadic. I have learned a lot from this site and hope to keep building in the future. LMW
