  1. I came across some purple bands, so I made yet another revision to Skeletor. Used this as my inspiration to integrate the purple but still keep with the black cloak. Also on the villainy front, Krang and Shredder:
  2. The X-Men sets will have a comic version of Nick Fury, which I'm guessing means this guy: http://marvel.wikia.com/Nicholas_Fury_%28Earth-616%29 The Avengers movie sets will no doubt contain a version of Nick Fury that looks more like this guy: http://marvel.wikia.com/Nicholas_Fury_%28Earth-1610%29 And hopefully he'll introduce a Lego trench coat piece. There are so many things I would do with some Lego trench coats.
  3. This is interesting: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/12/29/amazing-spiderman-building-blocks-confirm-spoiler-rumour/ (caution, spoilers) Mega Bloks has sets for the upcoming Spider-Man movie. I guess they still have movie rights through Sony while Lego has rights based on the comics through Marvel, maybe? It'll be weird to see two kinds of Building Block Spidey on the shelves at, presumably, nearly the same time.
  4. Got the pieces under the Christmas tree this morning to finish out my initial MASK cast: Alex Sector, Bruce Sato, Matt Trakker, Miles Mayhem, Sly Rax, and Cliff Dagger. Have masks for them all under construction. Also upgraded my Trap Jaw this morning:
  5. The Danger Room: Steel walls and floor arranged in a corner formation and including a viewing station with the angled windows, plus plenty of modular "traps" - metal arms with buzzsaws at the end, flick fire missiles, "hologram" enemies, Prof. X and at least two other X-Men. Hell's Kitchen (or maybe just something like "New York Battle" for naming purposes): A new york alleyway with fire escape ladder, a trash bin, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and two thugs for them to stop. JLA Watchtower: An old moon base plate (with the craters) with a computer viewing room, a villain prison, and the big round JLA table - it should come with Martian Manhunter, Flash, and one bad guy to go in the prison.
  6. Honestly, I'd like a small set that is Smeagol and his buddy fishing, when they first find the ring. A non-Gollum'd Smeagol is a minifig that I think is important to get, but easily overlooked.
  7. They're actually very Ghostbusters...as long you're thinking of the right kind of Ghostbusters:
  8. Love these.
  9. Very nice. Love the "christmas lights" on the shoulder pads.
  10. I think they did: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=5378-1
  11. I have been drooling waiting for the Lego Super Heroes sets for months. The LOTR news seemed like the ultimate topper to that. But I am in love with the very concept of these sets in an unexpected way, and they may trump the licensed sets when it comes to grabbing my attention (and money) in 2012. Can't wait to see more.
  12. Great review. I missed out on the last round of Bat-sets, and the Batwing has always been my favorite Bat-vehicle. I look forward to picking this one up.
  13. They've made some army builder sets for Star Wars with only Imperial Troopers. I suspect this will be similar.
  14. Thanks, LegoDr. With the mummies I have from my pyramid set and the red hood from Red Riding Hood in the Series 7 minifigures, a Mumm-Ra is almost too easy to make to ignore for very long...and then he'll definitely need some 'Cats to fight... I have more Joes and Cobras to photograph (I have made roughly 45 characters total from the franchise), I'm just waiting on the Christmas holiday, and I'm expecting some needed minifigure pieces under the tree to finish some of them off. :)
  15. Probably true.Oh, maybe they'll use the abundance of short characters in this franchise as an opportunity to do a set of articulated short legs. I wouldn't mind a new set of short arms, too, to help proportions.
  16. I think a Bag End or Shire set of some kind is a given.Probably Helm's Deep, Minas Tirith, Gandalf vs. Balrog with a stone staircase...the Rivendell Council...uh...maybe a giant elephant thing (whatever those are called). Weathertop Battle. I am geeking out. So excited. I wonder how they'll handle scale. - Toy Story Woody legs/arms for Humans, standard minifigure for Dwarf, short legs for Hobbits?
  17. Thanks for the link. I am so excited for this set.
  18. Thanks, guys! I admit to sort of "reimagining" the MOTU characters. Hopefully they're mostly still recognizable. But I wanted them to feel a little more modern so they could stand side-by-side with the others. And, much like the Ghostbusters have a transforming vehicle, this He-Man's Battlecat is a military vehicle that turns into Man-at-arms. Of note, those are Lego axes being used on the Transformers - current Transformers have a gimmick called the C-Joint which is Lego compatible. It means not only can Lego figures "grip" some Transformers but you can also outfit Transformers with Lego bits or outfit your Lego vehicles with Transformers accessories Anyway, I'll try to stay Lego-centric in this thread, but that's a nice bit of cross-toy interactivity some of you might enjoy.
  19. And the GI Joe team: Scarlett, Duke, Flint, Lady Jaye General Hawk, Beachhead, Snake Eyes, Roadblock Wild Bill, Shipwreck, Cutter, Gung Ho Low Light, Spirit, Barbeque, Bazooka
  20. Here's my take on some Masters of the Universe characters in Lego form. Stratos, Sorceress/Teela, Man-E-Faces, He-Man Skeletor, Trap Jaw, Evil-Lyn, Triclops I'd like to upgrade Trap Jaw with a new helmet and arm, but I need to track down those pieces. Comments and critiques appreciated.
  21. Great build. And I like the use of forest men for the bar employees. Nice touch.
  22. Sorry, I was just making a general reply to the OP. I don't know what a LugBulk is, either.
  23. This guide is incredible. Thanks so much for the resource.
  24. I just got my first Heroica game the past weekend. Played a couple of games, enjoyed but ultimately thought "I've pretty much mastered this. I may not ever play it again." But seeing some of these maps with multiple levels and stairs and such is really making me rethink that position. There's a level of customization inherent in the game that I hadn't considered. Good job!
  25. Hello, all. In this thread I'll be sharing the Lego minifigures I've been making based on existing franchises. The idea is to create a sort of "shared universe" where everyone hangs out together - something I've always wanted, but could never realize with the existing toys, which can vary anywhere from 3 3/4-8 inches. Thank god for Lego. Anyway, to start here's some pics of my Ghostbusters, based on their cartoon appearance. You can see here that their Ecto-mobile is not fully Lego, but is Lego augmented. That's because he's secretly a Transformer: Here he is hanging out with the guys before they got stickered. And here's the terrorist organization known as Cobra (you can see they're currently residing in a slightly modified Scorpion Pyramid). Cobra Commander Destro and the Baroness Tomax and Xamot Dr. Mindbender and Storm Shadow Zartan More to come. I've got completed figures and WIPs for GI Joe, MASK, TMNT, He-Man, etc. - nearly 100 minifigures in total right now all based on TV from my childhood, lol. Hopefully you all enjoy them. I'm looking forward to sharing the finished products and getting the help of the more experienced customizers around here to finish some off. -Hobbestimus P.S. Full credit where it's due - I got Cobra Commander's torso from here. My Ghostbusters all have a torso sticker design modified from someone's more movie-ish style. Unfortunately, I lost track of where it came from. If anyone recognizes it, please chime in so proper credit can be given. Thanks!
