See, I was thinking it worked that way myself (including during my most recent Fields hosting, IIRC), but because of the situation in 146 I ended up reading the Confusion rules from the FAQ to see if the First Aid Kit would have a failure chance, and I ran across this (the last question in the "Effects" section of the FAQ): Q: How does the confused-effect work in the case of the confused hero targetting an ally or himself, for example with healing or an item? A: The point behind the effect is that the confused hero becomes disoriented and has a chance of mistaking an ally for an enemy. This works the other way around as well - he might just as well mistake an enemy as an ally. To better phrase it, the confused hero has 1/2 chance of using their action to a random target on the unintended side. This does not apply when the confused hero targets himself, though, so he can use a Remedy on himself without care. So I went a little further up to read the description of Confused on enemies: Confused - The enemy has a 1/2 chance of hitting a random ally instead of the target with every DAMAGE or SPECIAL DAMAGE rolled for it or with Free Hits for the next three rounds. And sure enough, that's neutral enough wording that I feel the "indended action on opposite target" explanation for Confused Heroes should apply equally to the enemies. Do note, however, that Hexed very definitely works the way you are imagining it: Hexed - The target performs an attack on a random ally instead of their intended action until the end of the next Round or the target is remedied. (Emphasis mine.) On a separate note, someone was asking (either here or in PM, I don't recall) whether or not attacking allies and rolling Damage/Special Damage results in retaliation against the aggressor. I'd initially thought it was just up to QM discretion, but then I ran across this: Q: If I target an ally standing on a different row than myself with an attack for some reason (eg. in confusion, with a healing weapon), how will the damage be calculated? And what if "DAMAGE" or "SPECIAL DAMAGE" is rolled? A: When it comes to attacking allies, the rows make no difference. You will always have full power against your allies. The targeted ally will not counter the attack, but rolling "DAMAGE" or "SPECIAL DAMAGE" will be counted as a miss. So to whomever was asking that of me, there's your answer. Now, I do have a Sandy/community question of my own: should we allow Stunned to stack and/or extend? It's struck me recently that, with the way Stunned currently works, a Hastened Hero is guaranteed to be able to attack at least once per Round. But what if an enemy can apply Stunned 2, preventing the Hero's next two actions? It would allow some interesting different Specials QMs could use without having to come up with new effects that bypass existing Hero immunities (which I've always found to feel a little...off). I don't know, it's just something that sprang to mind amidst all this discussion.

OOC: If Glaz was Confused and he uses his Specials for rolls of Damage and Free Hits, he should have inadvertently cast his protection onto the Hero party. I'll chime in with actions and RP later, I'm off to dinner with family ATM.

If we're doing pic requests, I'm actually in the market for a new Arthur avatar, preferably one that features him wearing his main gear (the Duplovian or Unicorn Helmet, Tin armor set, Blue Hand Shield, and Shadeaux Cloak, with some kind of design for Dauntlet Index or Zoot's Rebel as the weapon). The image I have works all right, but it is getting a little old, and I haven't had a chance to try taking a new one. Oh, and while I'm requesting designs, I'm looking to do a bit of a minor Diana redesign as well, to reflect how much time has passed, so if you have a design for her (or even Darius), I'd be interested in seeing those as well.

"<Karie, you should use a Smelling Salts before you sing, so you have more options for later actions.>"
-
Ehh...I was suspicious of it as well. I don't remember what happened to Soonavask, so as soon as I saw it talking to Gaunt I was all "ohh HEL no..."
-
Arthur shakes his head. The angels were going to shred through the Heroes with their flimsy armor...and even he could not properly handle the lead angels' might. But there was no other option. "Fine, then, Gabriel. But you'll need to be Lucky to have any chance of surviving, especially with her potential for permanent Confusion. I don't want your lethality turned against us. And if Karie sings a Rapid March, perhaps consider using your first action to increase your lethality." Instead of attacking Telethia, Arthur uses a Nostrum on Gabriel. Miirym switches her first attack from Corvis to Gray Angel B.
-
"Bah. If someone can Hasten Karie, she'll be able to use a Scroll or attack and still sing a song each Round. I'm the only one who can safely take Telethia, but the same is true of Vaermina. Hmm...if we Jinxy Juice Glaz and have Vindsval attack him after Karie sings a Lucky Chant, we can have very good odds of getting a Guardian Angel. Even then, however, I don't see a way through this...they're simply too powerful for us to survive their attacks and Free Hits, even if Karie plays a Rapid March instead of a Lucky Chant." "<I will take Corvis,>" Miirym offers, already readying her Breath from the Back Row. Arthur nods. "...right." Well, if I'm going to die here, I can at least try to put up a fight. Arthur attacks Telethia with his Dauntlet Index from the Back Row. If they gain a second turn, Miirym uses her Breath on Gray Angel A from the Back Row, while Arthur attacks Vaermina from the Back Row. "<Whoever targets the Black Angels needs to be at the bottom of the Battle Order,>" Miirym adds, not wanting even more complications to deal with.

I'd just like to remind everyone that there is only one of me. Just saying.

"<Vindsval, I could use some healing.>" "Actually, on that subject..." Arthur drinks a Mead, uses a Mead on Miirym, and finally uses a Nostrum on Vindsval. OOC: I think around the time I first came in, Siercon gave me his Phoenix Essence and I slotted it into my Duplovian Swift Halberd. OOC 2: Also, the Mail of the Renegade Commander should be equipped within the Coat Hangar. Arthur re-equips the Coat Hangar and attached Mail of the Renegade Commander. He also equips his Tin Gloves in place of his Tin Greaves. Arthur lends Siercon his Scarf of Misfortune. "You should have space to equip that, with luck a well-timed Circle of Might and Magic might prove a great boon."
-
Arthur tosses Karie his Sandman's Parasol. "Catch, Karie. With this you can sing off the sleep if they try that trick again." Miirym takes to the air, looking around for approaching enemies and hopefully staying out of range of another attempted sleep spell.
-
OOC: Gods dammit. Sorry, Kint, didn't mean to ignore you there in the cross-post. If you'd prefer I retcon again, I'll happily do so.

"You don't get to force people into listening to you. If this person doesn't want to talk to you anymore, tough. Sometimes you don't get your nice clean resolution with someone--sometimes there's just loose strings that dangle and you just have to deal with them. You never, ever force yourself on someone. If they want you to leave them alone, you leave them alone." "For your information, I happen to consider a certain gnomish Druid to be a very good friend. In fact, I was somewhat dubious of him for quite some time, simply because of his ornery nature and his distrust of you. But he proved himself to have a good heart. And you just proved yourself to have the opposite." Arthur's face contorts with rage and disgust. "Rape," he hisses through clenched teeth, "is a special kind of evil. And that's the only use for love potion outside of combat." "<And if you have hurt this person badly enough that you feel they will attack you unless you use it, then you have likely earned that attack.>" "Yes, I kill people. We all do. And I have done plenty of horrible things in my time. But I have never, will never enslave someone's will to force them to do what I want them to do. That is the worst possible crime someone can commit in my book--and not only have you sought to commit it, you show no remorse, no hesitation for doing so. You don't even offer an excuse for your hideous behavior--you do it because you're a coward, and you're selfish. At this point, bloody Immortalis seems more redeemable than you." Miirym rests a comforting claw on Arthur's shoulder. "<Come, Father. It is pointless to argue with a dead man.>" "...right." With one last angry glare at Lind, Miirym and Arthur storm off into the woods, following Arthur's Magic Compass to the Falconer.

I only did it because you jumped on top of me in the middle of a posting error. I've since retconned my retcon.

"You. Do NOT. DRUG people--rob them of their will--to have a conversation. I don't know who you're dating, but using a love potion on them is so UTTERLY despicable..." The Dragoon seethes with rage, sweating despite the cold and storm, his perspiration drops of angry black ink as they splash upon the soggy ground. His next words are roared with a fury loud enough to be heard even within the house. "The only reason I didn't KILL Masson the night I met him is because I could tell he would NOT cross that line, that he was willing to back DOWN from that ledge. If I'd caught wind he'd even thought about doing that to Karie, I would have throttled him where he stood the moment he showed up in my room, weapons or no. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing keeping you alive right now is the Veterans' Nornish artifact. And even then I'm of half a mind to try. So if you value at all your miserable little life, I suggest you start running. Because I'm not going to sit here and Quest alongside a thing who earns my trust and then hurts my friends and then tries to commit acts of unspeakable evil." "<Immortalis is less of a monster than you, and you have no idea how he has hurt me. I have fought tyrants and monsters, but not one has stooped to such a low.>" "Congratulations, Black Knight. You've officially ranked second below the Regret in my book of the world's worst villains--and he only ranks above you because his actions were committed on a larger scale. Good job, 'Hero'."

OOC: We. Cross. Posted. After I accidentally sent the first portion of my intended post. My action was for Miirym to spit at Lind's feet before storming out the door, and then you posted and changed the situation, so I edited as quickly as I could to try and be accommodating, if you're going to be a jerk about it I'll be happy to stop even bothering. But if you really want a fight...
-
OOC: Lind, I was in the middle of typing and posting when you jumped in and changed the situation, and rather than completely erasing everything I had just worked on I tried to work in your action. Now, if you want to have a big knock-down drag-out argument about this through our characters, I can edit my post and we can do that, but I'm pretty damn sure you do not want to mess with me on this particular topic. Me having Arthur walk away is frankly a courtesy to you and to everyone who doesn't want to sit here and watch me argue morality and ethics for four pages. OOC 2: I should also add while I'm at it that I hadn't intended to post the "you're dead to me" by itself, it was meant to contain both posts, but I misclicked "post" instead of "preview".
-
I can't believe I'm having to say this, but you do not drug people to force them to have a conversation with you. That is not a thing that sane and healthy people do. It is wrong on a very, very, VERY fundamental level. There's not a significant moral difference between the two.
-
1.) It was a loot drop, (from the lair of a known sociopathic monster to boot), 2.) There's a hell of a difference between "I need to make this enemy too enamored to hit me otherwise they will kill me" and "Hi, I'd like to buy some roofies to use on my girlfriend!", and 3.) Arthur may not know this in-character and so has no means nor reason to bring it up, but Annie has said nothing to indicate she's even interested in Lind, the entire relationship has been nothing but Lind being creepy and stalkery towards her! In fairness, Warlen has also been somewhat inappropriately possessive, but he's not the one who has disregarded consent repeatedly. I really hope you're just playing Lind as oblivious to his own disturbing behavior, but based on your reaction I have this horrible feeling you have no idea how horrifying a request he made.
-
OOC: Miirym and Arthur's conversation included Karie--it was the first thing they said. It doesn't make logical sense for Lind to be close enough to hear the conversation between Arthur and Karie, and then too far away to hear the conversation between Arthur and Miirym when the latter didn't start leaving until after Lind arrived.
-
OOC: OOC: We cross-posted, so I changed my response to account; Arthur and Miirym left the building before Lind did.
-
Too disgusted with Lind to stand still, Arthur marches outside, not caring about the discomfort of the rain. Miirym spits at the Black Knight's feet before wheeling and following, extending her wing over Arthur once more. An angry Arthur approaches Karie and Anemos. "Lady in there's nice enough. But watch yourself around Lind. He's a real piece of work." It's all the Dragoon can do to keep from throwing up. "You think you know someone, and then they turn out to be a monster..." "<Now do you understand how I felt, learning about Vorpalis and his father?>" Arthur looks up at Miirym with a compassionate gaze, pushing down his hatred as best he can for the sake of his Draconic daughter. "Sweetie, I did understand, even before this. I just...I don't want you to have to grow up estranged from your family." "<Arthur-->" Miirym cuts herself off mid-sentence as she sees Lind has exited the building behind them, too far away to have heard her and Arthur's speech and unwilling to continue within his earshot. "<We'll talk later, Karie. Arthur trusts you, and it's become increasingly clear that trustworthy allies are going to be in short supply in this party.>" Arthur nods in agreement, unwilling to risk speaking in front of the Munchkin for fear he wouldn't be able to stop himself. The pair sweep off into the woods, Arthur on foot and Miirym in the air above, following Arthur's Magic Compass in search of the Falconer. OOC: retconned.
-
Arthur and Miirym both glare at Lind in unison. "You're dead to me," the Dragoon snarls, with Miirym backing him up with a literal snarl.
-
Arthur notices Masson acting moody and walks over to chat with him. "You alright, Masson? I don't think we've seen each other since that chance meeting in Goland a couple years back. A, uh...a lot has changed, hasn't it?" Arthur tries not to look at Masson's missing arm, but its conspicuous absence is hard to miss.

"<Thank you for the information and the hospitality, Madam Severa, but we must retrieve our ally so that we can stop a prophetic Elder of my kind from erasing the Free Islands from the map. So, unless you have a potion to deal with that, I'm afraid we must be off.>"

Clearly, someone has a link to a malicious or badly-coded site in their signature, and it's breaking pages for people with Chrome. I'd say it's worth bringing up to EB admins to deal with.
