  1. Neither issue exists on my computer. For the shocks and bracket, they look fine so I must have a different version of the parts library than you. For your other image, it looks like axle 1 in your assembly got moved back by two studs. In mine it is positioned correctly. Don't know how that would happen unless you bumped a key or something.
  2. I've posted the Brickstore parts list. The final model has 3540 parts if you include the string. I'm not sure how many strings you need for the boom extension so that could be wrong. At average Bricklink prices, this model would cost almost $1100 USD! Of course, a large chunk of that is the Power Functions elements. If you happen to already have a copy of 42009, then you already have 2151 of the parts and only need 1389 more, but those parts will still cost you ~$700. Assuming you can buy 42009 for less than $400, it is a cheaper way to go than buying the parts individually. Adding a second 42009 doesn't help as much. It only gets you another 687 parts and you still need 702 more worth $575. I've also posted the LDraw file. I'd like to keep my file as the "master" file and collect any revisions that people make in one place.
  3. LPub works on my end even with a file this size. If you want to step it, I'll do the LPub work. Of course, someone will have to the wires!
  4. I finished converting the file to LDraw. This includes manually converting all the parts which LDD doesn't export as well as replacing all the parts which are missing/substituted in LDD such as L motors, LED lights, suspension arms, etc. I started with Gerger's groups and then added a few more. I also added the string. Final part count is 3575. I'm trying to make sure the file contains proper attributions. From what I can tell, the original mods were by Jurgen Krooshoop and much of his superstructure is maintained. Christophe Moittie designed the extended boom. Gerger totally redesigned the carrier to have an extra axle, independent suspension, driven axles, and a new cab. Does that cover everybody? I like the community project idea. I don't have time to step the file, but there is no reason it couldn't be parsed out to multiple members. If the file were fully stepped, I volunteer to create the instructions from there. I'm sure there are additional mods that could be made to make it even more perfect. I too thought that the turntable could probably use more support. A ring of rollers would be awesome. The only other thing I can think of is to more fully enclose the supersturcture like WR3KL3SS did here: I'll make a few more final adjustments to the file and then post it.

  12. I've completed the conversion of the superstructure, including replacing all parts which didn't convert and swapping the parts which don't exist in LDD (like the L motors). 1070 parts just in the superstructure. This file is broken into the same submodels as the groups in LDD, so it shouldn't be quite so terrible to add building steps.
  13. There has never been an official car set more advanced than 8880. It is still your best bet for the pinnacle of supercars. 8448 has more advanced styling but fewer technical details. See this table for a comparison: http://www.technicopedia.com/cars.html#comp
  14. I am now muddling through LDD and exporting each group as a submodel into MLCAD individually. This will take a long time, but it will make the file much more usable for instructions later. I am interested to see the final parts list. In particular, I want to see how many parts have to be added to the basic 42009 and whether buying two copies would provide the majority of the parts.
  15. How can you export them separately? I have my own LDraw.xml file for LDD that contains lots of extra LDraw part transformations so the exported file is not missing so many parts. Right now, the LDD file has 3776 parts and my LDraw file has 3604 so that is not too bad. Of the missing parts, I know what 60 of them are and can add them easily to the LDraw file, but I have not been able to identify what the other missing 112 parts are yet.
  16. I am willing to help by converting this LDD file to LDraw and replacing any missing parts. The problem is that I am terrible with LDD. It is the least intuitive CAD software I have ever used. Before I export, I just want to rotate the boom so it is parallel to the ground, but I can't figure out how to do it. The hinge tool makes no sense to me. Can anyone give me some advice? After that I will create an LDraw file and make some renders.
  17. I haven't heard anything official on that matter. The shelves will be flooded with new sets if they put all of 2014 out at once. I think they would have to retire all the older sets to make room. I think they will all be available at S&H, but I'm not sure about the retail stores. My guess is that they will be released slightly more gradually than predicted. For example, the smaller sets are already available even though they were not predicted to come out until August. Maybe this means others will be a bit early as well.
  18. Sheepo's Land Rover has exactly that system. You might want to check that out as a starting point.
  19. A "traditional" proportional controller with absolute positioning would indeed be best. But I have several loaders for which I use the train remote and it works pretty well once you get the hang of it. You can push a button to return to center. Of course, it works delightfully well with linear actuator steering instead of a servo. For example, M_Longer's Liebherr L580 is really easy to drive with the train remote or even the binary remote. What is sad is that the PF system is perfectly capable of supporting an absolute proportional controller. Both the motor speed and servo steering can be commanded directly to any of 15 settings, but there is no remote available which will actually do it. I am surprised no skilled electronics person has made their own.
  20. By popular demand, here are 5 more magnificent red cars by 4 more builders.
  21. It would be nice if one of the few people who actually have this set for review could try driving it with the proportional train remote. I have a feeling the movements will be much more realistic.
  22. if I were to use another color, the picture could get quite empty. White: I have only the Gallardo Yellow: Jurgen Sunbeam and Crowkillers Murcielago Blue: Jurgen Little Devil Silver: NK Supercar Black: I have a good sized collection here: Crowkillers Vampire and Muscle Car, NK Pony Car, Skyliner Countach, Jovel dragon, Tonight I will try to remember to take pictures of the second group of red cars and the black cars. I would love to do orange, but parts are a big problem. I rendered the Countach in orange:
  23. Actually, I have 5 more red supercar MOCs that I couldn't include in the picture because there was no room! Erik Leppen's Zonda Erik Leppen's Bughatti Nico71's Roadster Crowkiller's Deluxe Supercar Madoca's Supercar Please discuss this with my wife. Guilty! I would strongly guess that this was intentional. Part of TLG's recent strategy of making Technic usable by younger audiences has been color coding. For example, pins and axles come in specific colors. Most modern sets avoid similar parts in the same color. For example, they won't put 5L beams and 7L beams in the same color in the same set. They make them different colors so the builder doesn't confuse them. I bet they made the #3 connectors a different color than the #5 connectors on purpose so builders wouldn't confuse them. Sadly, this strategy has a negative impact on the appearance of a model. Yes, there are Brickstore files for all of them. You are right that there is a lot of part redundancy between them, so your guess is probably reasonable. I do have the American muscle car, but I am in the process of converting it to black. As you can see, I have too many red models (and I needed to pirate some of the red parts from it for the Ferrari). I also converted Crowkillers' red Gallardo to white and Jurgen's red Little Devil to blue.
