Cleaning and straightening out your sails
Medievalego replied to Medievalego's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yeah, that's what I'd read, put the sails between other cloth to protect them from heat damage. Apparently this works pretty well though. Thanks all for the comments! ~ M ~ -
Hi guys, I did a couple of searches for ironing and washing sails and got some useful information about ironing, but not washing them. Has anyone had any experience with either? I've got two or three sets of BSB sails that I need to work on and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ~ M ~

Lego finds in Consignment Shops!
Medievalego replied to Dadster's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Soooooo jealous of all these juicy sounding finds! >:-( >:-( >:-( Thus far I have not found anything at thrift stores / garage sales etc. Unfortunately there don't seem to be many active thrift stores / consignment shops around me. I looked before, after reading a similar thread, but they'd all gone out of business :( I've got a few new locations lined up to check for the spring though. I'll post an update in a month or two. ~ M ~ -
I'm seriously considering buying this fantastic army, and at this sweet price too! http://cgi.ebay.com/Lego-Army-of-Knights-o...1QQcmdZViewItem :) They've got to be kidding me. ~ Medievalego ~

LOL!!!! That's hilarious. Please put up pictures if you do get around to making that vig darthperson8! :-) I'd like to see ... and I'm blanking on a name here ... oh, Madam Rosmerta. Is that correct? Think so. She'd make a good wench type figure for pirates / castle. Oh and Viktor Krum. I always imagined him looking sort of like Gargamel from The Smurfs, only younger ... always slouching about, muttering about smurfs and Quidditch ... certainly I didn't imagine him looking like he turned out in the fifth movie (not really how she described him was it?) :-D ~ M ~

This is awesome. Totally my favorite post-apoc MOC that I've seen, even if it's not the largest. I like everything about it. Nice job with the minifig too; looks very cool. ~ M ~ PS I want one for XMAS. Not the model, the actual thing >:-)

Yeah what impresses me most about this is the road ... that side building technique works very nicely--also, the use of, apparently, new (?) bricks pay off. It does look fantastic. Also, the bike definitely does have the Akira feel going for it--well done on that. Now just make Akira himself in blob form in LEGO and I'll really be impressed :-D ~ M ~

Blacktron I was and is awesome, had to go the MIB. Second I would have voted for the Lock-up Isolation. It's sort of unique and has a very cool vibe as well ... plus I never had one when I was young and now I do :-D ~ M ~

Two 7787s. Shazam. I like the Bane minifig :) ~ M ~

Wow, that's pricey! Any word, is that going to be the general price for these fellas? I hope not 8-

Something very silly...the SteamHorse!
Medievalego replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Agreed, a very clever (and funny) detail. :-) ~ M ~ PS Weird / and or strange moods produce some great things don't they? Probably not so great too ... >:-) -
When Jawa people watch to much Indiana Jones

Girls With Swords

If nothing else, you know a catchy topic name :) And I agree with Asuka, I really like the white one. Nice work *sweet* ~ M ~ -
What book are you reading right now?
Medievalego replied to Norrington's topic in Culture & Multimedia
~ I want to read this! I saw Slash being interviewed on late night, about the book, and it sounds pretty interesting. captaintau: I recently read "Darth Bane: Path of Destruction." It's pretty entertaining. The only SW book I've read. Greyfox327, zero1312, a53021: the complete LOTR and the hobbit ... I agree, I've read these a number of times, starting when I was in third grade. Matn, legolover100, Lord Of Pies:Harry Potter Series, a number of times ... oo7: Read Lord of the Flies years and years ago ... I especially enjoy the Simpsons version of this story :) PSPguy: "It" ... this book scared the hell out of me when I was 12. Now, not so much. But there's some pretty weird stuff towards the end no? Well, stuff that didn't make it into the Pennywise a la Tim Curry film version :) SlyOwl:I read most of the earlier Brian Jacques novels (haven't read any in a couple of years)--all of the "Redwall" series and its spin-offs. Aredhel and snefroe: I read "Cujo" a long time ago. Wasn't my favorite King book. I've only read "The Gunslinger" so far from the Dark Tower series, but it was fantastic; definitely looking forward to reading the rest. I really liked "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," it's really different from King's general canon. copmike: I'm definitely going to check that one out *sweet* Mr. Mandalorian: I'm not familiar with "Airframe," but I've done the same thing, most recently with "Next," "Prey," and "State of Fear," and not so recently with "Timeline," "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World," "Congo," "Sphere," "Disclosure," "Rising Sun," and "The Great Train Robbery." yellost: I agree, I enjoyed "The Da Vince Code," but also didn't think it was as great as it was made out to be. SirNadroj: I wasn't especially fond of that classic :) Thought it was a decent read, worth its reputation? Not as sure. As for my current read ... I'm actually focussing on Patricia Cornwell's "Book of the Dead." Been meaning to read it for a couple of months and am finally getting to. Also starting "Heart of Darkness" and "Lone Survivor." ~ M ~ PS Great topic, by the way. -
My own two bits: I think this is all very cool. However, I too would like to see more 'human factions,' and villagers and such. Maybe we will see both ... if the advent calendar is any indicator *sweet* Elves! Sweet.

Another cheap lego source gone.......
Medievalego replied to jawa's topic in General LEGO Discussion
HAHAHAHAHA! Nice, very nice. *Hmmm, I wonder if Target will be on to me now ... devious squinty sneaky eyes side to side* ~ M ~ -
I really like this. It looks amazing. And yes, as others have already said, some very nice details. ~ R ~

Step 3: Profit. Hey, what's step two? *sweet* ~ M ~ PS I want to see these pictures when they do get uploaded. Sounds intriguing.

I especially like the use of the two capes on Blacbeard; that's very clever. Also, the dwarf beard is a perfect representation for his bearded locks--and I have to admit that it was apparent it was supposed to be him before reading it, so, well done! ~ M ~

That cactus is my favorite X-D ~ M ~

Some I've just listened to: Steely Dan - Reelin' in the Years Phil Collins - Suzia Duran Duran - Rio :-D Ah! Beach Boys - California Girls ... nice song to listen to in the heart of winter ... or a cruel joke ... hmm ... And just because I find it so hilarious that I listen to this (semi-regularly), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Hilltop Zone (I also really like Chemical Plant Zone and Mystic Cave Zone--does this make me a nerd?)
-
That is awesome. I'd seen some of his older work, but not that ... very impressive ... especially like the opening mouth with the light up effect. What big skull dreadnought!!!??? Are we heading towards LEGO Warhammer 40K??? X-D X-D X-D I'd like that anyway ... Still, very exciting news about space. I've been disappointed that its dropped off the map--not that Star Wars is a bad replacement, but if they can coexist, so be it! ~ M ~

Latest updates on LEGO set sales
Medievalego replied to gylman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The store chain Tuesday Morning is having a LEGO sale starting March 4th at 8:00 AM, where everything is supposed to be "at least 50% off." Seems to include all lines: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?threadid=756377 Please people in my NY area don't beat me there and scoop up everything :) LOL I've got the flyer if anyone wants me to scan it ... Happy hunting! :-P ~ M ~ -
No, I couldn't *sweet* I bought a bunch of the Killer Croc figs a while ago--I hadn't really been aware they existed until I started using EB ... and I have been waiting for a "fantasy" theme from LEGO for about as long as I can remember. Definitely going to be assembling an army while I can *wub* Thanks SirNadroj and Asuka as well! Oh and Asuka, that sword appears in seven sets :-) ~ M ~

I don't like to call these customs, since I'm just switching around a couple of pieces, but as soon as I saw the Killer Croc figures and this racer head I thought they needed to be used in this capacity. It's taken me a long time to get around to taking these pictures ... might have a few more forthcoming ... had a couple of other ideas that I'm working on. Would love to hear what people think--is anyone else using these in a similar fashion? Thanks! ~ M ~ *Click images to see larger versions*
