  1. Just two tiny wings for show on the back. I named it ROC because I wanted every unit in Clan Morrigan to be related to a bird because the Clan symbol is a raven (Morrigan named after a goddess of war who sometimes took the shape of a raven). The ROC seemed appropiate because it was a massive vicious mythical bird and those qualities are evident in the suit -- big and bulky, armored, heavy weaponry, talons. Also ROC Suit is an acronym: Reinforced Overkill Combat Suit.
  2. Roc -- Heavy Battle Armor (Hardsuit) Clan Morrigan has been busy developing its Armored Division to support its many quick strike units as well infantry. In the spirit of Clan Morrigan's advanced tech features and mobile units, a heavy battle armor was developed instead of the typical tank. The hardsuit has been dubbed "Roc" named after the collosal mythical bird that was so powerful it could carry and devour elephants. There is expected to be a few more Rocs developed that will feature alternative weaponry such as gauss cannons and long range missles. Check more out, add comments and notes at my Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattman_evers/
  3. Go ahead Exobuilder! Feel free to post in this thread too. I want this to be a community sort of thing where people can show off their sigfigs or other characters. BATTLE ROYALE GO!
  4. Well, after playing a bit of SSBB I was inspired to take it into LEGO. But of course instead of smashing there'd be whacking! I'd like to make some official rules for this, if you guys have any ideas (rules, characters, battlefields) feel free to comment. I'll be creating more characters and battlefields later, but so far I got this. WHACK 'EM BRAWL Salty Fargus vs. Kukailimoku A hardened sailer who's been in quite the bar brawl, Salty Fargus decided to join the Whack 'Em League after losing all his earnings in a poker match. His whacker, the Shark Slapper, was forged out of a dead shark Fargus found on the beach, although he claims he fought the blighter out in the open sea and lost his hand. Kukailimoku claims to be the god of war for his savage people. His bloodlust drove him all the way to the Whack 'Em League. His whacker, the Blood Totem, is made of a strange coral, making it very sharp. From the center is a skull -- the skull from Kukailimoku latest sacrifice, and his blood of course washed on the whacker. BATTLE START! WHACK! EVADE! OUCH! Enjoy! More soon -- a space battle!
  5. Excuse me, I entirely disagree. Although Nannan's work may be "different", I'd call it genious, artistic creativity. You've gotta be an artist if you can come up with your OWN signature theme that many have tried to emulate. Nannan has taken LEGO to another level -- to make creations that don't look like they are made out of LEGO nor would you expect making out of LEGO.
  6. The GoogleEarth screenshot is a very good idea for a background in LDD, but I'm not really feeling the ship though. It looks more like a warehouse building than a ship.
  7. Thank you, Batbrick! Just waiting on two Bricklink orders, but I have it all planned out. Hardsuits. :skull:
  8. Built another hoverbike. Now I have 6! Took some new pics of the whole squad too. Updated on Flickr.
  9. Good Lord!!! I didn't expect this monstrous of a force at all! Geez, that Behemoth is outstanding! Great color choice! Really excellent use of the viking wheels. Probably the best choice for this creation, better than tank tracks I think. But dang...is there any hope?!?! That Tank Fortress would bulldoze that sea fortress!
  10. o0o0o, scandalous. But I think Grakul means "romanticized" Post-Apoc, where there's lots of guns and killing zombies, and mutants, and giant junkyard mechs. Bascially an atmosphere for chaos, fantasy, and heroism; not gritty survival and pain.
  11. There's just something about Fabuland that really appeals to me. It's probably back to my beginnings in LEGO when my sister and I used to play with DUPLO all the time and role play. Oh geez, but anyways, this is a nice train. I like how used house elements for the rail car and engine. The red smoke pipe on your engine could be centered. You can fit those 1x1 cylinders in the center of four studs. I think it would add to the comical effect if you add a very large smoke stack too. The fact that this is a blue engine reminds me of the classic "The Little Engine that Could." I remember seeing it as a cartoon and seeing this creation is just wonderful!
  12. o0o0, I didn't think of that. That's a really good idea actually. It'd be a fun build but I don't know if I'd keep the turret. I don't plan on making a base or anything, and I want to keep my army pretty mobile.
  13. Thank you! ... I've got another load of 16 missles just sitting on my table but I don't know what to do with them. I was thinking about adding a column of missles (3X4) but I think it's a bit unnecessary, cause this unit is designed to get in and out, not sit around shooting all day. I don't have enough pieces to make another one of this hoverbike, though. What should I do?
  14. Thank you for your wisdom, Dr. S. You, by the way, have been a huge inspiration in building my army. I'll post pics later on my current strength. Right now I'm at one heavy hoverbike, five regular hoverbikes, one mech, and eight uniformed and armored infantry. Waiting on a Bricklink order right now and I'll have five hardsuits and one more regular hoverbike added.
  15. Nice to meet "THE-FORCE" The helmet has clip things on the back. Attached is simply a Star Wars blaster. All my infantry units have that as their weapon but since he's driving, it's just stowed away on his back.
  16. Aw dang, this would've been sweet to join in! If only I knew! But it's allright, I'm going to really enjoy the creativity. Sir Nadroj's entry reminds me of Indiana Jones a tiny bit because of the explorer and the crazy asian looking boy behind him. There was also a woman who does look similiar to the girl in the MOC.
  17. Very good suggestions, SuvieD. My army was originally plain green and black but then I got a little curious, bought some dark green pieces, and now I'm sticking with the color change. Unforunately it means a very small piece selection, which is why this bike is almost all black. You are very right about the tactical situation. One good hit and that's all it takes. I was taking that into consideration when building it, but I couldn't really create a cockpit around the pilot. The area around the missle system is very cramped, which is also why there aren't inside walls on the missle box. As to the front covers, I just got lazy with them, but also I don't have an appropiate flag panel and hinge. But despite those HUGE drawbacks, I figured it's just fantasy, all make believe. There's no need to be so nit picky about real life details as long as it looks cool.
  18. School's over finally and that means a lot more free time on my hands! I've been so anxious to make something new for my army but just couldn't come up with anything decent. I wanted to create a unit that would still be quick but just have a ton of missles on it! I tried making a short mech first, but it just wasn't turning out the well, so I decided to create a vehicle. I didn't want a tank or even a wheeled unit because that just wouldn't fit the style of Clan Morrigan (Fast, Furious, Futuristic), so I just started tinkering around with an oversized hoverbike. Eventually I wound up with this -- the Shrike Bike. Description: Named after a Shrike, "a passerine bird of the family Laniidae which is known for its habit of catching insects, small birds or mammals and impaling their bodies on thorns. This helps them to tear the flesh into smaller, more conveniently-sized fragments, and serves as a "larder" so that the shrike can return to the uneaten portions at a later time. A typical shrike's beak is hooked, like that of a bird of prey, reflecting its predatory nature." (wikipedia) ,the Shrike Bike carries a large payload of either armor piercing or explosive rounds quickly into the heat of battle. Its missle array will cripple even the toughest of units and scatter enemy squads in panic. Despite the heavy payload, the Shrike Bike still maintains quite a bit of maneuverability with its massive side thrusters and front balancing wings. Two heavy grav pads and two heavy boosters keep the Shrike Bike on its quick path of destruction. Typically, this unit is sent after initial forces have secured a "payload zone" for the Shrike Bike to move in speedily along a relatively linear path to deliver the missles. After wreaking havoc on the target area, supporting units move in for the kill. I also got a flickr account, so if anyone wants to check it out!
  19. ...For the same reasons that can apply to any other genre. I assume you mean Post Apoc by "Apocalypse" but just like any other genre, it's just a theme that requires certain elements just like Castle needs its knights and armor and castles, and Space needs its mechs and ships. Post Apoc can be seen as somewhat of a collabortion of these ideas of Castle and Space. It has its allure because builders are challenged to create their own style of Post Apoc. It's actually quite a broad category. In Post Apoc we see the grittiness of world war and its legacy of the past, but we also see it fused with future innovation. In Post Apoc there is an excuse for perpetual war, hardship, and destruction. It is self-evident. Post Apoc calls for extensive creativity. How do you make something look really good when it's supposed to look "junky"?? And of course, we love Post Apoc because of BatBrick's awesome interactive story!
  20. The turret's my fave, bulky and mean! Have you considered using pieces from you own collection and buying the rest from Bricklink? It could turn out to be much cheaper. Especially if you're considering assemblin an army!
  21. Nay, I decree 18 days of celebration! Today's the 10th day of fesitivies!
  22. Hey there! Welcome, welcome to EB! Hope to see some MOCs from you!
  23. Oh my! Thank you, everyone! Geez, I can't believe I missed this topic! I suppose I should browse beyond the "Space & Mecha" forum a bit more. Yup, 18 now, and birthday money's gonna be real handy for...LEGO of course! Once again, thanks guys, yes, I'm a pie eater. Apple's me fave!
  24. Thank you for the good comments, everyone. Expect to see the army develop even more within these couple weeks. (I'll have a heck of a lot more free time once I get out of school! ) Like I mentioned before, I wasn't the genious behind the hoverbike design, I edited it to fit more my taste. The design is based off of Soren's. Look him up on Flickr. Yes, it does have a resemblance to the Halo ghost, but that turned out to be an after-thought, not something initially planned for.
  25. I haven't seen your work in quite a while, Steel. This is a solid lookin piece! Well done! I have to mention though that I am absolutely THANKFUL that you're posting pics instead of links now! And formatted to a perfect size too! I like the SNOT, and the bits of color details, like the numbers and hazard lines. Did you run out of dishes with details cause the last pair of wheels are just plain grey!
