Sting

This is an amazing set! As always - a good review! It brought back memories... as I have said 300 times... damn I wish they would bring this line back... or make a new version of it(a good version)

Yes... they are mostly just historical monuments and used for Re-enactments. In fact... in Winnipeg we are have the Festival Du Voyageur every year and it celebrates the legendary coureurs des bois (runners of the woods) who were burley fur-traders (kind of like Vikings... except French...and wielded smaller axes and muskets instead of large axes and swords... and they didn't pillage... and they made friends with the Natives... and wore more fur than armor...so I guess they only looked like vikings from the neck up... (but not past the forehead because they were beaverhats instead of viking helms)... Anyway... and they hold the Festival Du Voyageur at a large fort that is rebuilt in Winnipeg every (It was actually there back in the 1700s but I guess it eventually was taken down...) Although it was older it is the exact same design as Fort Legeredo(including open backed building! lol j/k)... pretty cool.... I want The Wild West theme to come back... and Pirates... and good Castle...

And people who hate change. LoL. There are alot more things Lego could explore with the castle theme... I just hope they will do it soon! If There are many medieval helmet designs, some incredibly stereotypical that lego still hasn't made... Tell me why!!! If it is because you base it on the Maxifigs than you may be right(if we get some cool armor back(I have enough of the old non He-Man swords)... but I have little hope in the buildings themselves. One thing you can't deny SuvieD... why are the new castles so limited in figures? KK1's Castle had I think 4 defenders and a queen... and I think 2 attackers. How many does Vladeks big rocky fortress have? I just hope there is more GOOD Minfigures... and lets pray not everything is in freekin' Black!

What a bastard. Here alot of us are struggling to buy sets and find deals. And then you have scum like this stealing and selling to us at Retail price... what a douche. Hope he rots in jail!

The bley in TroyTMoores AMAZING MOC doesn't look too bad... I actually don't mind it... Heres an idea! WILL SOMEONE WITH LOTS OF BLEY AND GREY TAKE SOME PICTURES OF... A) An all bley castle wall on a green baseplate with some green and newbrown scenery built up around it... B) Same thing with Dark Bley... C) And how about a bunch of Black Falcons along side some Vikings or other bley figures!

No one denies how unrealistic LEgo castle was and still is. This is not the debate. We all know that Legos things are never been realistic. The Castles we see are merely guardposts... none of them are big enough to be true castles! But due to cost Lego couldn't make a realistic sized castle and have it sell for a good price! (well... for parents to buy for kids at least). Realism in the Castle Theme is not the issue in this thread. If it was than KK2 loses just as bad as all of the other themes. The issue is is whether KK2 should be considered part of the Castle Theme.

Well... its hard to tell... I actually have no idea! But I am guessing it will be in the next few years it will slowly rise where it is expensive and Bley is a much better option. I also have only a small drawer of old grey lego... alot of which is BURPS and LURPS... For me to buy enough to keep building MOCs will eventually be more expensive than it should be... and since I am a sucker for rare minifigs... it won't help.

There are people out there who make money of postage. It is sad but true. I was going to order from a Bricklink store and then I checked postage - his minimum charge even for a tiny envelope that could contain 1 piece (if you found a $1.00 piece) was $6.00 (AMERICAN) Pathetic. In Canada to send a letter International it costs 1.45 CDN.... if you want to put a bit of bubble wrap in it to protect some pieces it would cost the same... even for a larger letter the most I can imagine for even up to about 50 pieces is $5.00 CDN.

I need some more time to think! Blueandwhite brings up the good point that old grey is going to skyrocket in price... and I don't even have enough Bley to know how good it looks... I actually onlt have it from a Star Wars Snowspeeder whcih I keep built... Norro... I will not be purchasing any light grey for now... if I need some to finish my (possibly) last few MOCs with it... I will let you know!

I always thought the blonde haired guy you show as one of the outlaws was a Deputy... as If I recall on the box of 6799 he is riding with the Sherrif to Showdown Canyon... (possibly the most violent idea of a lego set in theory). But besides that - amazing review! I enjoyed it... I have also never had a good chance to see this set but up close! But I have now!

It would be hard... but I had at a time some MEgablocks mixed in with my collection - it wasnt my fault! My brother bought some MEgablocks thing and my parents through it in when he was done with it! But there black is more pale and cheap looking... the color was slightly different... it was a 'lighter' black...

Yes... I think I am deciding to simply make a few last MOCs with old grey and start stockpiling bley... Thank god white, black, red, and blue didn't change... that would have been murder... (well... this grey color change is murder... but more colors would have been even worse!)

They are. Much worse. I am still confused too as to why people think KK3 will be better? Is there any pictures of the minifig scale KK3 sets? And about the Age thing... I think the Yellow Castle isn't that great... I think the Minifigs ruled... but it was kind of boring... but I do think it is a MUCH better set than the Fright Knights set(the first bad Castle line). And I was 10 When the Fright Knights came out. Interesting also how I think the Castle and Town sets from the 80s(before I was born... I didn't get my first pile of official lego until I was 3... which was 1990 (I had large BIGGER THAN DUPLO style... megablocks(no lie...) when I was very young... I think they were megablocks...). I think some people are affected by the generation thing. I thought all of the castle sets from 1984 - 1996 were cool. I remember first seeing the Fright Knights and saying "what is this?". I didnt like them from the second I saw them... Ninja was good(whether it is considered Castle or Not I really don't care) and KK2 was crap except for the really good minifigs... That is my 2 cents on the age to preference idea...

Uh oh... I have never seen Bley used as scenery or along side other colors used for scenery... Irgh... I would love to stay with Old grey! But I simply do not have enough right now (only a small drawer full... a bunch of which are BURPS(I like alot of the Dragon Knight sets okaY!)...(which are dark grey) I think for someone like me collecting Bley is more logical as I think old grey will go up in price... and the last thing is higher costs...

Is Lego actually going to cut colors? They still have so many I can't even begin to keep track of them... in fact... If you haven't boguht many (new) sets in the last 5 years... you won't even have half the colors. There is light green... dark green... light red... dark red... light blue... dark blue... and also all fo the normal medium (classic) colors! I wish they could cut it down a bit...

Has anyone seen a large group of GREY figs along side a large group of BLEY figs.. I am interested in this because looking at my relatively small collection of grey (it isnt as big as I thought...) How does it look? I have almost (painfully) decided to start collecting (...) Bley... It is sad and probably true... I have an even smaller collection of brown(besides Boat Hulls, barrels weapons and treasure chests)... as my dark ages started in 1996 when brown started being used more widely as normal building bricks ect. So I will need to collect the new 'reddish brown' too... Has anyone seen any good Castle/Pirate/Historical MOCs using Bley and that new crappy brown? I know that it doesnt quite have all the pieces the old grey did... Does anyone know how long Bley will last now? I don't want to start collecting it or anymore Lego if they are just going to change there colors every 5 or 10 years...

I think you have a good idea The Brickster, but I have no faith in LEGO whatsoever to deliver a theme giving your idea the justice it deserves. By adding Spanish and Mexican armies to the Western theme it would bridge the gap between Pirate and Western. Maybe they could even share a Spanish sub-theme! We can dream... can't we? I don't understand why Lego wouldn't make a Vintage line that reproduces old sets or makes sets that cater to AFOL... I guess there just isnt enough of us to make a dent in sales... For example... if Lego rereleased the 6086 Black Knights Castle... would it sell incredibly well... or would lots of AFOLs buy it but not many kids and perhaps this simply isn't enough for lego...

Your ending was hilarious. You bring up many good points... I can't really argue with what you said. I just told Phes that I think KK2 is not Castle... but perhaps after reading this I will have to change my mind. Who knows. I need time to think. ANd mostly I need to stop thinking about Lego and think about other stuff. No one is stopping me from building the kind of castles I want and admiring the ones I want. Maybe there will be some other good arguments... I will sit back and watch the debate flow for now on... only offering my 2cents when I feel like it :-D
