My Star Wars LEGO exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden from June to Oc
mechamike replied to Sweden's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Really Impressive collection indeed.. and as a Swede I can understand that a lot of money has gone into that collection. Have You been able to buy anyting on sale? anyhow I hope the toystore will give You discount in the future. :-) -
I agree, I think 2008 was really nice. (and Im a OT fan).. And I totally agree about missing smaller set.. I would love really small sets like this but for Star wars.. 1 minifig and some cool thing, not a ship but someting else from the Star wars universe Like a Tie fighter tech with a small utility vehicle or a smaller set like this Imagine, a rebel technician and a X wing utility thingie , Aunt Beru and a stowe with some banta meat cooking. A Stormie and a weapons rack.. I love that kind of smaller sets.. lets cross our fingers and hope that dreams may come true 2009, or 2010 :-)

Just out of curiosity how did You manage to break it? I have one myself but i done a lot of modifactions on (lenght, hight extended it), but as I remeber it was pretty sturdy even before that (at least my daughter who was 3 back then used to play with it alot, she liked the "brown house" and the jawas alot) and it never broke then.. but perhaps was it the bottom that collapsed? I recall doing some modifications on the bottom to get the ramp betwen the track's in place and i strengthen the bottom some then. Well at least Lego is designed so you easy can rebuild it :-)

Hi Emma and Welcome ! My very first order from Bricklink was from You :-) Hope You have a nice time here! /cheers ps Im mechamike on BL

Hehe.. Yes another Star Wars Viking.. Jar jar's of the world hide in fear !! No but seriously , Thanks everyone for a nice Welcome.. @ Ras, Im glad that I cant change Usernames "just like that", that's one less thing to worry about and I had a hard time to decide if I should change it to "53021" or "Megasuperduperadultlegonfanfromthenorthpadawanninjakillerdude" @ Captain green hair.. sorry about that Wasa incident , didnt know You nice Dutchies built it for us.. (but that kind of explain why it flipped over by a small gust of wind) BTW both Your Tiger and Your German Baureihe 22 locomotive are really sweet builds.. I suppose If You built Wasa with your brick skills it still would be sailing the sevens seas.. Micke Mouse fish are nice, How big is you tank (with fish ? not the German Tger) Before we moved to the house I had 3 aquariums, 40, 60, and the 250 litre. but before the move I gave away some of the fish and smaller aquariums. Some fish died after the move, (suppose the move was a bit stressful for them.) Before I had a lot of Platy and Black mollys (that had babies like crazy) Currently I have 2 "Chromobotia macracanthus" ". At the moment only one Pterophyllum scalare (female), one Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps And one male Betta splendens (or Betta trifasciata Betta pugnax ) Getting a new house cost a lot of money, and apperantly (according to my gf that is) you also need new carpets, drapers, new furniture and other decorative stuff, so I have to wait due to negtive cahsflow to get a bigger tank. (600-700 is my goal) The bigger the tank the more easy to take care of.. /cheers!

Yesterday I decided to take out one of my 7654: Droids Battle Pack from storage.. two of the SDB's legs had fallen off. All 3 SBD had clips that had cracked. Before I put it in storeage , (pretty much right after i got it) I dissasmbled the set and put it in the box. But i didnt dissasemble the minifigs. I never played with the figs , just put em toghter and stored them dark, dry and at roomtemperature. The BD, were ok.. The set is from early 2007.. Seems like Lego had some tolerance ,material issues back then. Time for replacements.. I wonder if the plastic get brittle over time or due to stress. If its time related I cry over my still unopended Droids Battle Pack.

Thank You.. Yes there is a reason for this strang nick, but its a secret, and I belive a wast horde of crazy fabuland figs would show up and beat You with turkey drumsticks If i tell you.. so I rater not since you seem like a nice person. But Im seriously thinking of change it.. (if that's possible) But first I have to come up to a better nic.

"Please allow me to introduce myself Im a man of wealth and taste Ive been around for a long, long year" Well, perhaps that wealth part isnt really true. Depends really from what perspective you are looking. My number is a53021.. Im living in a house not far from Linköping, Sweden with my family. My significant other she think's I have way to much Lego, but my five year old daughter who enjoys Belville and Spungebob set's agrees with me and think's that we still have room for more. I only have about 100 sets and about 45 000 pieces (mostly SW) but even with the new house we built, Im still have a hard time finding a place to store my sets. Anyhow, Im 38 and my Dark ages lasted between 1987-2005, then I realized there was Star Wars Lego and I got the AT-ST for christmas for a friend, and later decided to get a B-wing for myself. (turned out good move for me, but in the end not so good for my economy) When It comes to Lego I mainly collect SW sets. I have 3 ongoing dioramas in my head that I collect sets and parts for. I done a few MOCS (mostly mecha) . I love doing modifications on SW set. (I have a Sandcrawler that's been uppdated over the years and still isnt finished.) I also have some train and city sets (I really like the modular houses like Café Corner). And some rainy day I will make a cool base for my childhood classic space sets. I somtimes read the FBTB forum, and I try to follow the nice Swedish blogg "Legobloggen". I joined Bricklink 2005 to get the parts needed for my sandcrawler mod, and even if I been lurking in the Eurobrickforums also since 2005 it took until 2007 till I joined this place, and till today to introduce myself properly. Some day i will get my act together and take pics of my mods and mocs so iI can get some constructive critisism.. (Daughter goes and my love goes whenever I show them someting) And perhaps in the future I scope up enough courage and try to join the ranks of Swelug. Even if the family and the house takes most of the time, I occasionaly find time to enjoy the tranquility my aquarium.(250 Litre freshwater) or time to enjoy my gameconsols,or PC. I was part of the "scene" back when Atari/Amiga was the thing and made graphics for a few games/demos back then. Nowadays, I left Degas Elite and Photoshop for oil, acryl and real canvases. But I only paint at summer when the light is better here in the north. Beside my reguar work, my love for music led me to a side carreer as Security manager on concerts and open air events. I also done alot of stage hand, local crew work over the years. (including Rolling Stones a few times if You still wonder who made the opening quote) And even if I will not post a lot in the forums I still enjoy reading what others have to say here. Nice to meet You all ! /Cheers!

Perhaps a bit off topic, But the set cost me 399 SEK that's approx 37,4 EUR , 31.5 GBP, 47 USD or for You pr0visorak 70 SGD. Lego is expensive in Sweden..

Nope, In my store , both the TIE and the polybag was behind the counter. Long story: I been to IKEA here in Linköping, had 7 minutes over until the bus would come, thought I stroll over to Sagoland , (who has the best prices on Lego that I know of in Sweden not counting Hikmet in Jönköping). Outside the store, they had a postersign that said , preorder Vaders new TIE ,get a free Vader minifig. So I walked in said that I wanted to preoder , and then the nice lady said: "You can have it right away. We have the set here behind the counter." I got the set. Then she took out a white big shopping plastic bag and emptied the contents on the counter, 4 polybags dropped out. She handed me one an said : "Your lucky we dont have many left." It wasnt until i sat on the bus that I noticed that the figure was in black chrome And realized how lucky I really was Had I known that It was a black chrome vader in the shop I would have got at least one more set. Ps sorry for my bad English Ds..
-
I picked up a chrome Vader yesterday when I got the new TIE. :-) (399 SEK) at Sagoland in Linköping (Sweden). They had 3 more polybags left yesterday evening. (both TIE's and polybags was behind the counter. I have yet to open the polybag, but I noticed that the legs was attached with the torso. Are they glued togheter? Is this the case in all bags? Cheers!

What book are you reading right now?
mechamike replied to Norrington's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Bilbo.. ( I read the ring triology and Bilbo every third year) -
Doesnt bleech make the plastic more brittle? Any signs of that in your experiment?
-
tpam seems to be confused and perhaps Im to blame? (or illigal substances) :-) (and he comes from the country that houses the Lowlands festival that I enjoyed visiting (twice.))
-
TPAM has the same member nr as the year that J.R.R. Tolkien begins writing the original Book of Lost Tales (the first version of The Silmarillion)..

What is your favourite Lego-related sound?
mechamike replied to Kahgarak's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Favourite sound.. the low ratteling of the pieces inside a unopened box on the way home from the shop.. :-$ Least favourite , the clinking sound a small part makes when tumbeling down the hose of the vacumcleaner. *sing* -
Question: do people buy you LEGOs as gifts?
mechamike replied to Medievalego's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My partner would never buy me Lego, she thinks I allready has way too much. But last birthday I got a MMT from one of my friends.. he is now conisered to be my BEST friend.. But I have given away Lego to some of my non AFOL friends,( and it has allways been much appriciated..) especially the big Ferarri sets.. -
The last 2 set's I got my hands on was the 7666. Once again it suffered quality issues. One round dkbley plate had a miss alligned axel hole. (axel wont go through when stacked on top of another brick with similar x hole. Also the lightsable hilt wont hold blades , its slips out of its sockets (one side is worse than the other.) But most disturbing was i was missing one snowtrooper helmet Have ordered new parts, but so far nothing has arrived. Sad times.. sad times.. och and a few parts hade those with dots on them aswell
-
After completing my UCS MF Im NOT happy with the quality issues. I had muliple dk bley parts that was discolored (one was really,REALLY bad) the dk bley was milky almost light bley. I was also missing a lightsaber blade,a technic pin connector and 3 1x8 plates. I also noticed that some of the plates had a "bad grip" and did not connect to other bricks as firmly as one is used to. The printed box was damaged from factory (shipping boxes were intact and ok). The manual had discolered and stained pages. Extra parts? 6 3x2 plates, 1 4x2 plate, 2 gear sticks, a flesh head and 2 sliver round 1 studs. and 2 smooth 2x2 bley plates, and thats all!. I ordered the missing parts, but I have a bad feeling about my 2 MMT's not yet opened. Lego quality is surely slipping

I have the book in question.. its 186 pages (including blank pages for notes It includes the following projects 1. Paper plane launcher Non lego: a pice of string 2. Candy coated catapult needs 1 motor 1 old technic gearbox Non lego: spoon, paper 3. Ping pong cannon. Non lego:ping pall balls 4. All terrain lego. Needs 2 motors Notice : You have to cut axels to build it. 5. High velocity automatic lego plate dipenser. Needs 2 engines Notice: You need cutting a gear down and glueing pieces togther :-( Tips and trick (how to connect to battery boxes to get more juice to the motor) So what do I think about it? Personally I think this book sucks , Im glad i Got it for free, I would have hated to spend money on this. I dont like having to destroy lego to build things, and I think the projects are flimsy and boring. Your own imagination is better , and spend the money on a new set instead of this crap.

Im turning 37 in just a few days :-( ... dark ages ended 2 years ago.

Well, I live in Sweden, and I got +7000 aswell.. :'-( ((no extra wings) ordered a few hours after it was possible on S@H) so the "randomness" of the certificates is something I highly doubt.. Never came a cross a low nr in Scandinavia or Europe.. has anyone ?
