Yea, I'm also going to hold off and see if they do a last minute price drop. Current stock is 888, so we're not in the danger zone yet. :sceptic

How do you see that there's only 35 left on Amazon? I just tried to add 50 to my cart and it seemed to work..... You're post is freaking me out that there's only 35 left?
-
sorry to revive this old threat, but the posters are great. Anyone take the time to do any others?
-
So, what's the consensus on the EN? There's another website reporting that Amazon has less than 1000 left (I dont know how to check Amazon stock) Would it be worth it to pick up 2-3 EN sets for the passenger cars, and then sell the engine and tenders in the future? Current price on Amazon is $90, but if they do a last push sale (say $75), I think it might be a worth doing.....

I donno, the Imperial Flagship, which is non-licenced, is 1600 pieces @ $180US. A licensed POTC 2000+ piece ship would probably be $250+. That's a pretty expensive set, and out of the price range of the target demographic IMO.

I think the first one is great. I have both those ships!

How many trains run on your lego layout at a time?
eliminator replied to 12vretrofan's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I can run two trains at once on my current mighty two 72"x30" tables. Although, if I dont keep a close eye on them, they're bound to collide. As for storing, I might add a small shelf to display my additional trains when not running on the layout. One day I'll have a mega setup. -

Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
eliminator replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
STEP-1 is to get trains rollin. I'd get the yellow cargo train for all the track and Power Function bits, but any starter set achieves this function. (I bought the Passenger Train first) STEP-2 is to build up you layout (depending on how much room you have) by adding more track. Then add sets like Level Crossing and the Train Station, since they come with track pieces anyways, so it's win-win. STEP-3 is to get more trains and rolling stock. You can get another train set like the Red Cargo train or Passenger train for even more track and PF parts, or move to the Maersk Train and transfer the PF bits from your starter set (let's say the yellow cargo train) if you only have room for one moving loco at a time. STEP-4 is to go nuts. If your serious about the trains, you'll probably get hit with the bug and just buy every current train related set anyways. Shotgun approach. Good luck with your choices!- 191 replies

I seem to have all the same sets as you and made the call to pick up the IF during the current Lego shop sale. Worst case, save it for a year and if you don't open it, you'll probably be able to sell it at double the MSRP. The set is huge and appeals to the AFOL as well as the spoIled kids. All my pirate sets are from the classic era and broken down into pieces awaiting future rebuild and display, including the Black Seas Barracuda and Caribbean Clipper. But, like you, I'm more into the city/trains spectrum right now and for the foreseeable future. The Pirates just don't seem to go well with my current setup.

Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
eliminator replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Personally, I'd recommend the current Yellow Cargo Train 7939. Why? -loco can serve as passanger or cargo train -track (straight, curved, and flex) -two track switches -power functions to run the train -semi-realistic rolling stock cars -cargo crane and transport truck -Currently BYGO 50% off at TRU I think it's a better starter set than the Passenger Train or the Red Cargo Train. In addition to the cargo train, I also recommend 7936 Level Crossing to get some more straight track and good train set add ons. I'm new to trains myself, a month ago I didn't have any!!!! Yea, it probably would be a good idea to grab an Emerald Night before they're gone, but as a second train after a starter set.- 191 replies

MOC: DSB My 1100 - 6wide Power Functions locomotive.

Great work!! That loco is certainly unique looking -
Not sure of the makeup itself, maybe something along the lines of the green town hall in the town plan set? I'm hopeful for something like this: Side note: I'm sure it would include a mayor and town crier mini figs.....
-
Yea, it's a great set. Has a decent amount of track, 2 switches, a cargo crane, truck, containers, and decent rolling stock. For me, the only thing apealing of the Red Cargo Train set is the actual loco. The rest of the set is too <insert that tiresome argument> for my liking. I think I'll just pick the red loco up on ebay/Bricklink....
-
great work as always, looking forward to your next creation
-
as long as they keep the modular series running I dont really care what building they release. A town hall would be a nice addition however.
-
yup, got those too. In the last month or so I've picked up the crossing, station, 2 Maersk trains, yellow cargo, passenger and emerald night.....should be good for a while

Layout WIP: I've finally started a real layout!
eliminator replied to kyphur's topic in LEGO Train Tech
for sure, with the Emerald on the way out and the Maersk likely a short-run, there must be something in the works. An updated Super Chief would be perfect, although they probably would only do the loco and 1 or 2 cars. Seems like the experiment to sell car-packs wasnt profitable enough. -
Contrary to what some people think, I don't this the Red Cargo train is replacing the Yellow Cargo train. The Red one seems to be a TRU/Lego Store limited edition exclusive. For someone such as myself just finally getting into trains, it's a great time IMO. Three starter sets plus the Maersk and Emerald makes for lots of choices and possibilities.
-
yea, the Emerald has been out for a while....2009? I only picked mine up in October since I was getting the feeling that the end was near for the set. Amazon seems to still have them if theres anyone out there who needs one. On a side note, I did manage to get an Imperial Flag Ship at 35% off plus the free holiday set 2/2. It's sold out now too.

Lego Shop At home Black Friday Deal
eliminator replied to SkaForHire's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
yea, too bad. Maybe you can still find one at a Lego store if you live next to one. The online Lego shop doesnt really play those "we're out of stock, but not really" sales. If it says out of stock, it probably is out of stock... -
Lego Shop At home Black Friday Deal
eliminator replied to SkaForHire's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Although I haven't bought a Lego Pirates related set in years (since I'm more into trains/city) I couldn't resist the deal on the Imperial Flagship. I got 25% off + 10% off, plus holiday set 2/2, free shipping and some VIP points. It should look nice set up next to my BSB and CC. Will the Flagship be discontinued this year? -
absolutely, right after the sale many of the big sets will be magically back in stock....
