  1. so much for priorities, I just ordered a Grand Emporium
  2. Finally got some of my newer sets together and set up on a dedicated table. I realize there's not much to look at, but I have to start somewhere. As you can see, I still have a few unopened sets to build as well as many more waiting for cleaning and rebuilding from my childhood. Sorry for the terrible quality of the photo, but I'm sure you get the idea... Next on my list: -Baseplates, baseplates, baseplates (where can I get cheap ones?) -Current Fire or police station -One of the classic airports -Medieval Market Village -Another table -More track, switches -more harbor plates (already on order) "Notable" sets I also have in my collection waiting for cleaning and re-assembly:
  3. Well, I guess you can say I got bit by the Lego train bug. Last week I picked up the the current Passenger Train set 7938 and Train Station 7937. After a quick visit to the Toronto Lego store today, I walked away with an Emerald Night. I probably would have picked up the Maersk Train, but I didn't want to miss out on the Emerald before it's discontinued. I'm hoping to get some major work on my layout done over the winter.
  4. Picked up the Emerald Night and free holiday set 1of2 today from the Lego store in Toronto.....
  5. Picked up the Emerald Night from the Sherway Gardens Store today. Got the free holiday set and the double vip points.
  6. I checked out the new Fairview store today. It was my first visit to a Lego store. It was nice to finally see of the larger sets built on display. I was going to buy the Emerald Night, but they ran out of the bonus holiday sets. Since it's free shipping from the online lego site, I'll just buy it from there to get my holiday bonus.
  7. Built this set tonight and enjoy it immensely. Glad I bought it over one of the current cargo train sets. Love the brick-built front and the colours.
  8. Local Zellers here had buy one, get second at 50% equal or lesser value. I bought 3661 Bank and Money Transfer and 4644 Marina. Both of these sets werent on my to buy list at the moment, but my wife talked me into picking them up. (She probably didnt want to deal with me regretting not picking them up.....)
  9. I'm looking for admittance into the academy. I'm back into Lego after a long absence and would love to review some sets from the mid-90s. I have plenty of Aquazone, Spyrius, and Town sets that are lacking reviews. Sets are complete, with instructions, boxes and I have a soso digital camera.
  10. I'm aiming to get it this holiday season just incase they discontinue it. I don't want to have to go on ebay/bricklink and pay double. So, it might sitting static on my layout for a while since I'm focused on building a city at the moment. My great-grandfather conducted a train very similar to the Emerald Night back in the day, so it is certainly a must buy.
  11. I like the Ambulance and Garbage Truck. Those police sets are getting abit strange. I hoping for another mini modular sets like 7641 City Corner and 8403 City House since I'm going that style (price) rather then the large (awesome, but expensive) modulars.
  12. Yea, Emerald Night is on my list for Santa. I just ordered 7641 City Corner and 8403 City House. I hope Lego continues the new line of these thin half buildings so I can build my city. Fire Dep and Police Dep are next, but I might go vintage for those... I love the new giant modular buildings, but $199CDN plus tax brings them to $230 each. Not to mention they take up alot of space.
  13. tomorrow (Friday), Zellers is starting a "buy one, save 50% on the second or equal or lesser value" on all Lego sets. I was just there and they have the signs already out, but turned around.
  14. I havent picked up any of the modulars yet, but I'm looking into picking the Pet Shop modular in the next month or so. I was going to buy the Green Grocer set a few years back, but opted for the Tower Bridge instead. I think re-releasing old sets is a great idea. Back in the late 80s my parents couldn't afford getting the Black Seas Barracuda pirate ship. I wanted it so bad. One day I'll probably have flash backs of leaving TRU empty handed. When they re-released the set a few years ago, I picked it up and enjoyed every second of the build. It's probably my favourite set in my collection. I think a re-release of the GG would be nice, or at least make all the parts available on the pick a brick site. I just want the set, I can live without the box and paper instructions.
  15. after buying this first train I almost want to go crazy on the train sets. Emerald Night and the Maersk trains are on my want list for sure, but I'm going to focus on getting some town buildings, more track, and baseplates for now.
  16. Does anyone have any modular building creations ideas built from the parts from 10214 Tower Bridge? I'm just starting to build a city and will be getting a modular or two for Christmas. I love the Tower Bridge, but it's abit on the larger size and the scale is off for my city build. I'm not the best when it comes to MOCs and looking for ideas to fit with the current Lego modulars. Instructions or detailed build pics would be great.
  17. After lusting after Lego trains since my childhood, I finally picked up the new Passenger Train and Train Station. ToysRUS Canada was having a 25% off sale so I finally bit the bullet and picked these up. I know the new Passenger Train and Train Station arent the greatest sets, but I wanted something passenger-type oriented for the city I'm starting to build and the price was right. Growing up I had an HO scale layout, so I'm looking forward to getting back into both Lego and Trains. I just wish I had of bought some of those lego train sets from the mid-90s instead of being into Spyrius and Aquazone! I guess my next purchase should be some more track and some baseplates....?
  18. Hi All, I'm just getting back into lego as a pastime since a long absence from my childhood. Most of my sets are from the mid-90s, with a few sets added within the last couple of years. I just ordered the new Passenger Train and Train Station and finally want to start building a Lego city. Unfortunatley, alot of the lego from my childhood was Spyrius and Aquazone, so not the best sets for a starter city. Surprisingly, I still have most of the original boxes, instructions, and complete sets that were buried in my parents basement. I'm looking forward to browsing the forums and getting some ideas for my city layout. I just loaded all my sets on Peeron, here's my collection if anyone is interested. Also, are there any good lego type stores in Ontario, Canada? Ottawa or Toronto area? I'm looking for old sets and baseplates. 1954 Surveillance Scooter 30023 Lighthouse 6115 Shark Scout 6125 Aquanaut Octopod 6516 Moon Walker 1887 unnamed 6518 Baja Buggy 6835 Saucer Scout 8746 Keelerak 7279 Police Minifigure Collection 6742 Mini Off-Roader 6679 Dark Shark 7595 Army Men on Patrol 6341 Gas N' Go Flyer 6265 Sabre Island 6155 Aquashark Barracuda 6889 Recon Robot 6193 Castle Building Set 6331 Patriot Jet 6175 Crystal Explorer Sub 7639 Camper 6336 Launch Response Unit 4022 C26 Sea Cutter 6939 Saucer Centurion 6544 Shuttle Transcon 2 6949 Robo-Guardian 7937 Train Station 6274 Caribbean Clipper 6541 Intercoastal Seaport 6339 Shuttle Launch Pad 7938 Passenger Train 10040 Black Seas Barracuda 4997 Transport Ferry 10214 Tower Bridge
