LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

First things first, i would like to thank you for your elaborate explaining efforts. Sweet jawa juice, here i thought i was just overthinking this whole stuff. But turns out it became a rather complicated matter for army builders. In regards to including named characters in Battle Packs, i can only repeat myself by saying... I totally understand that it defeats the purpose of army building. But even back then, i didn't mind the inclusion of Ki-Adi-Mundi and Barriss Offee either. To me, it was less like a road block in the way of more Troopers, but more like adding two missing minifigs to the collection. But yeah, if i were to buy multiple of those sets, i would be mad too. Seeing Lego never included named characters in Battle Packs again, they seemed to have learned their lesson. Yes, considering the source material, i figured it makes little sense to include a duo of Death Troopers. However, if it was just one DT, given the likely case you buy more than two of them, it would still be a problem... only half as worse. In either way, there would be no ideal scenario. Only some better or less worse than others. Except there would have been no Death Trooper at all, which would have felt like a missed opportunity. To speak for myself one more time, the regular Stormie is by far my most common Trooper. As straightforward as that is, i would rather have any other Troopers in Battle Packs. At least in the current situation where we only get like two Battle Packs per year. If we were back to four BPs again, i would be more open to some vanilla inclusions again. But as of right now, i would rather get the figures we can rarely have. And to top it all off... I actually got used to the Family Guy Stormtrooper helmets. They are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. They just... don't bother me anymore. -

Given a rather casual sense of army building and never buying multiple Battle Packs, i don't mind the 50:50 splits between Troopers. Don't mind it with the upcoming Death Trooper & Night Trooper BP, didn't mind it with the old Imperial Trooper BP. Other than obvious personal preference, i'm not too sure why it's such a big deal anyways. Why does the 2/1/1 ratio make more sense to you than a 2/2? Or is it less about that and more about what troops specifically get the edge over the other? Like regular units are supposed to be more common than elite ones. And by buying multiple sets, this could get in the way of canon-compatible army building? I feel like i am missing some puzzle pieces there. Some enlightening would be greatly appreciated. That being said, a new Death Trooper Battle Pack just has to happen in the near future. It would be a great get for the 10th anniversary of Rogue One next year. Or it might as well would be based on Andor. I would ship the idea of two Shoretroopers and two Death Troopers. Only got one Captain of the former and two of the latter. Don't really need normal Stormtroopers, since they can be found in enough other sets. I feel like the BP focus should be on the more hard to find Troopers. Fingers crossed for anything like that for 2026. -

Yeah, i noticed the extras now being all over the place, too. I think Germany and the UK usually get the same extras, while countries like Spain and France every so often get something different. While only selected countries get these magazines, i don't know what part of the EU gets them as well. My order has been slightly delayed but shipped by now. Since i never expected the sets to arrive in time anyways, my disappointment was almost non existent. So stoked for this year's GWP. -

On behalf of a rather coincidential Order #66 posting of mine, no matter how you celebrate today, i wanna wish each and everyone a happy Star Wars day. May the 4th be with you... always. And remember: "In the galaxy far, far away, Where the Jedi Council tries to save the day... There's Obi-Wan, the charming knight, Always drinking, and high as a kite. Yoda, wise and green, chuckles all day long, Mace Windu's firm, with a purple saber strong, Ki-Adi-Mundi, big head, no clue, Palpatine’s tricks got Anakin feeling blue. His troubled soul, Padmé's love like the sun, But can her light keep him from what he might become?" Credit goes to someone probably more creative than me. -

Ah yes, that's right. This brings the overall count to at least six new moulds for 2025 right now, with three officially confirmed and three heavily rumoured. Still curious about a possibly new Mas Amedda minifig. Either his misplaced inclusion in the UCS Death Star means he will be in a different set instead. Or his very existence was straight up megablocks to begin with. Regular Pilot Luke will be the next minifigure in the french Lego Star Wars Magazine. -

So, it has been not that long ago when the total amount of new 2025 moulds was believed to be at an all-time low. I don't know if this negative record has changed in the meantime, but right now we have a new head mould for Plo Koon, a new hair-hat combo for Dedra Meero, probably new helmet moulds for Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines and a new piece for Babu Frik... anything else that we know of? -

Once again, impressive... most impressive improvement since >> insert date here <<. It may take Lego quite a while for remaking older minifigs with new moulds and all, but when they eventually do, they usually knock it out of the park. This will be absolutely worth the wait. Although i might bite the bullet and get it at merely a slight discount right away. Then i will be able to annoy some friends and family by saying Koh-to-yah about one of my favorite Jedi all day long. -

The good thing is there are so many significant characters Lego simply can not completely ignore forever, the likelihood of getting them slowly but surely over time is quite high. That's at least how i like to see it, glass is half full as often as possible. Yes, we do. B is kinda funny, because Fallen Order already fell under this kind of Disney demanded morale compass with no dismemberment for Troopers and such. A sounds like a bunch of mambo jambo to me, so it's not hard to believe Lego would have thought that way. But yeah, we got the buildable BD-1 first, the Cal Kestis minifigure second. Third time's a charm. It's not too far fetched Lego will come around for a larger play scale set as soon as Jedi 3 drops in 2027 or so. Yep, this could be a neat concept for future AC iterations as well. -

Yes, that's why i wrote "ever so rarely". I own U-3PO, skipped the 2018 AC. It's just that it happened a long time ago. And there were so many HP calenders which all featured exclusive figs since then. To be fair, their quality standard is usually not on the same level as Star Wars. While the figs naturally often come with short or medium legs, they rarely have any leg printing, share a lot of the same faces etc. That probably helps a lot cutting costs. While completely new Star Wars characters (not just new versions of already existing ones), are often dependent on producing expensive new moulds. I am glad for the people who finally get what they wanted. Hopefully i will find someone taking this thing off of my hands... for a reasonable fee. Well yeah, tell me about it... I mean, getting Asajj Ventress again is awesome. But getting her even before Count Dooku is just crazy. I'm telling you, Lego doesn't want to do his curved lightsaber hilt piece anymore! For once, i say, screw any accuracy, and go full Mando Darksaber mode! -

You guys can have your TIE Defender... in the next spanish Lego Magazine. As i said, Lego's ways of when, where and why they do things or not are... mysterious to say the least. It's almost like some employees are stepping out of the wrong elevator on any given day. Like a Star Wars designer is accidentally invading one of the Lego Harry Potter guys offices. And it goes like "What wait, you are actually doing lots of exclusives minifigs in your calendars? Why are we ever so rarely doing that?" And then they stumple upon a drawer thought to be lost to time. "Early designs for Babu Frik? Ain't that the tiny little dude from one of those Sequel movies we used to ignore for over five years now? Yep, let's go." Pleasently surprised the Death Trooper & Night Trooper Battle Pack will go back to the 20€ price point. After the last price increases for the 332nd Ahsoka's Clone Trooper and Ambush on Mandalore Battle Packs, to 21 and 22 Euros respecively (plus the price hike to $23 for this very BP), a return to the 2022 standard was definitely not on my bingo card. What in the Billund Billionaire beloved bubble, a price reduction of any kind for Lego Star Wars wasn't on my agenda at all. Wether you want to wait for 20/25% discounts or 30/35% definitely does make a difference to me, so this one is nice to have. -

In theory, i like the idea of choosing never before done characters (which would otherwise be difficult to put in regular sets) for the anniversary minifigures. However, in execution, half of those figures, Cal Kestis certainly among them, could have easily released in a regular set. In Cal's case... very clearly alongside his crew in a Stinger Mantis set. If the reasoning against it was that A it's not popular enough cause it's a video game and B the age rating is not appropriate for kids, i don't get it at all. The range is definitely there and at the end of the day, it's still Star Wars. But yeah, having to pay an excessive price on the after market (boosted even further by the fact that he released in the most expensive 25th anniversary set), is obviously the downside of all this exclusivity. To whom it may concern, you will be able to connect the side builds of the new AC, resulting in some sort of larger workshop. -

Yep, i figured this out myself in the meantime. Yeah, it's hard to imagine, right? It's just the newly revealed buildable Battle Droid and it's unusual July release date that got me thinking. And yes, this year's May wave is actually much more fleshed out than it used to be. I remember waves consisting only of like three sets for this time frame. Now we only need better balancing again. I hope i'm wrong... but in my experience all other themes already getting revealed is not a very good indicator for Star Wars to follow suit soon. Because for some reason Lego is always late to the party when it comes to Star Wars. I recall times when the HP March wave was officially revealed even before the January sets of SW. Be that as it may, we still will have plenty of leaked stuff to talk over in the coming months. I agree. For once, i actually wouldn't mind a somewhat sparse minifigure line-up for a set of this price point. Just do the bare minimum in terms of the overall amount, like just three figs, and put everything else in favour of a detailed, sturdy and reasonable sized build. Yes, it never hurts to reserve final judgement for when you actually have the full picture. But with some of the most recent leaks, i gotta say... I hope for the best, but fear for the worst. -

The more i look at Plo Koon in all it's super sharp, crispy clean resolution glory, the more i am in love with it. Personally, this has minifig of the year potential written all over it. However, can somebody tell me what the background of the box is supposed to represent? It looks very familiar, but i just can't pinpoint what it actually is... Is it from the location based on the Slave Arc from TCW? Also, with 2025 sets released this January, March, May, June, July, August, September and October... How long it's gonna be that sets will be released every month of a year (except maybe December)? And a few years back, were all these 18+ products the cause of sets to be spaced out this much? Like helmets scheduled for March, Dioramas for May etc.? -

This might be due to recency bias, but right now i am inclined to say Koh-to-yah to one of the best Jedi minifigures ever. Do you mean a new version of Cal Kestis? Because i'd rather those 25th anniversary figures to stay exclusive. -

Ha, you really are going through with this, are you not? Justice will be served... eventually. Hopefully. Yes, C-3PO would be such a no-brainer for an TPM or AOTC themed calendar. In case of the latter, a B1 body with C-3PO head or vice versa would be a good addition as well. Lego is so out of touch these days... The lack of Clone Troopers for this year is just inexcusable. Sure, there will be three republic vehicles with a white and red color scheme simultaneously be available on shelves. And yeah, the two big flagship sets in the upcoming summer wave will be TCW/PT related as well. Add to that, the next Super Battle Pack, another entry to the Starship Collection, a single Microfighter, a helmet and this year's UCS set for May, with a play scale version later on. But yeah... that's it already! It will be basically no more than that. If Lego actually went all-in for a clone themed calendar, it would have been an somewhat okay-ish year for the certified clone brothers. But now... it's nothing short of a disgrace. Clearly one missed opportunity after the other (). Yep, credit where credit is due... Lego did a fantastic job on this new head mould. They actually ever so rarely miss the mark when it comes to new Star Wars moulds. I was watching Solid Brix Studio's review as well. His direct comparison showcased a night and day difference between both versions. Yes, this is how i see it as well. You've got true minifigures in it's purest form, three to four pieces without accessories. They will make up the lion share of the collection. Then there are extra figures with specialized parts for a variety of droids. They are still shown on the lower right corner of the sets front box art. Lastly, there are miscellaneous figures, which are put together with ordinary pieces for more clumsy or bulky looking droids, who won't be shown for the figure line-up on the packaging. Hahaha, since the buildable Battle Droid with STAP obviously doesn't include any clones, Lego was inclined to use the proper Skywalker Saga box art again! -

Okay, one sleepover later, i've kinda come around for this year's calendar. Yes, it's still the weirdest and of the weakest out there. But given the right price point, i will find some value in it. I'm just not used to getting rid of any minifigs anymore. Like, ever since Lego stopped doing any ST minifigs, i had no reason to do so. Still have the Poe Dameron ugly christmas sweater version, TROS Rey, Sith Trooper and a Porg from the 2020 AC in sealed condition. Now i will have a bunch more figs to sell to make the cost more bearable. But going back to the talk of a themed AC... Due to it's peak popularity, releasing one based on Mando in 2021 was the convenient thing for Lego to do. Now the same can obviously not be said about this year's droid theme... this came out of nowhere. So this change of action might bode well for future themed AC iterations. Or it will just straight up be yet another one and done deal and business will continue as usual for years to come. -

What in the Lego Star Wars universe... That's gotta be the weirdest AC i have ever seen. It contains almost no true minifigures, just droids. So, there is your theme, i guess. And just after i was talking about new characters to be included to fill the gapes, it actually happens with a sequel character, which probably blew the whole budget of this thing, so classy. Be careful what you wish for, i suppose. Good for those hungry sequel guys who want it. Seriously, fair play to you guys. For me, it will be a deep discount. Okay, i take back everything i just said about the AC being the weirdest ever. Upon further inspection, it includes yet another specialized GONK droid and is therefore G.O.A.T.E.D. -

Nostalgic nature strikes yet again. Lego really used to excel at these smaller sets... they were so damn good deals! Not saying you should be getting two+ minifigs and like 80+ pieces for seven bucks... With today's economic environment, this would obviously be next to impossible. But when you pay medium prices for smaller scale sets nowadays, it's hard not to wish for a middle ground. As it's not that long ago that you still got solid sets in the 20/30 (or even 40) bucks price range. But now these lower price points are more than ever reserved for Microfighters, Mechs and (Super) Battle Packs. Leaving a lot of the other stuff to medium and higher tier prices. We just need that stuff in between. I dunno, in any worst case scenario, i imagined him more like a death sticks dealer. Successfully secured my Star Destroyer with the GWP. Now i am playing the waiting game. -

Yeah, i can imagine many/most adults with feel this way. Well, other than seeing these things chopping down the stuff that truly matters even further (), i don't wanna seriously argue about a format that is clearly intended (this time for real) for kids. If some boys and girls enjoy playing with these Mechs, if it sparks their imagination of what their Star Wars universe can be, well... more power to them. For me, it would take an extraordinary exciting minifig to even make me consider buying one of those things. Either something (timed) exclusive or as a much cheaper alternative. To my knowledge, the June sets haven't been officially revealed yet. But don't worry, he mentioned in his video that he got permission from Lego to review these sets as soon as they hit his home. So it's probably gonna be fine. That's interesting... I didn't even intended to sound ominous this time around. I just want to scream his long overdue minifigure into existence. -

Appreciate it. Seeing reviews of sets before they even got officially revealed will never not be funny to me. I am aware it's Lego's job to brainstorm into all these different directions to decide what will be most popular choice for their consumers. It's not about favoring any era of Star Wars, to be anti this or anti that, it's obviously about what makes them the most money... the best business. And in that regard, they have to cater to as many people as possible. But i stand by that, they will never end up pleasing everyone with a single wave, let alone a whole year. And they don't have to. They have to provide better balance again... one way or the other. Even if they don't do so soon... These extremes, like seriously lacking variety for several sub-themes, are not eternal... they are trends. Come fourth 2027 at the latest, we will probably have much more OT sets on shelves again. And the roles in here will be reversed... yet again. Good maker, it's crazy to see these numbers. But yeah... the happening bunker of Boss Nass will open soon enough. And i will be there. I would like to count myself into the requesting TIE Avenger club as well. -

Oh, at long last, what a revelation... An alliteration is what it's called. Let me tell you... i am full of it. All this time i have wondered what the heck is wrong with me. And whether or not there is a specific word for it. Of course there is. Thanks to you, i know that know. Yes, they should have! Dooku Vs. Yaddle Duel set would have been the obvious choice to kill two birds with one stone. But Lego is like... Nah, best we can do is releasing two 4+ sets for Young Jedi Adventures, an actual kids show. In this instance, where is their adult spirit dominating so many other sets and formats? Again, sales-wise, nobody can tell me that the aforementioned set would not have blown the 4+ sets out of the water. And considering the 4+ format has become an extraordinary greedy cash grab, that's saying something. Only watched a few episodes of Visions, so i can't neither speak for nor against it. But it would be a quite unique line of sets for sure. Yes, i recently talked about this, when it comes to getting a more balanced line-up of different era playsets, the overflow of 18+ sets and all the other various formats, is the root of the problem. And like you are saying, there are smarter ways to deal with these things. Oh yeah, Koh-to-yah, Plo Koon, my boy! The head mould is an incredible improvement over the old one! Leg printing for the first time looks nice as well. Slight shame about only the droid's head inclusion, but hardly any surprise there. Will get the Microfighter just like the Battle Pack with a decent price drop a little later on. Unless they are putting an interesting minifig in there, i don't care about these Mechs at all. -

Somehow... i doubt that. If anything, in hindsight, the ST contributed to the PT finding much more appreciation again. For the time being, the ST is gonna be stuck in a vacuum, which can not feel anything. Exactly. If i get asked what the main difference between both trilogies is, i will answer with one word: vision. For better or for worse, George had a vision for the prequels. There was a beginning, a middle and an ending. He was very ambitious and keen to do new things in terms of world building. The amount of new locations, ships, species that got created is just insane. It showcases the sheer passion around every corner, like that man clearly cared about Star Wars as his own big baby. Yes, with just a little more time in the editing room to smooth out some of the rough edges, these movies could have been a lot better. Like Lucas is a great visionary who got all these ideas down on paper, but shouldn't necessarily been the person to decide how to execute everything in practice. But then you got Disney Star Wars executives for the ST, well... don't get me started. It's a night and day difference. On topic, though... Yes! Unbelievable that we still haven't gotten both Shmi and Boss Nass as minifigures. They were primed to finally show up during last year's 25th TPM anniversary, but alas... I mean you could fill up a whole CMF series with just the Mos Espa Podrace participants, for crying out loud. -

Since i don't know if my Lego gonna arrive in time, i try to be strong and save those three episodes for this sunday. It's gonna be tough resisting for so long. Gonna look forward to your reactions that may or not be considered dangerously close to spoiler territory, though. If i won i would get the UCS Slave 1 without batting an eyelash. I come from the original Lego Star Wars Videogame as well. Which actually released shortly before ROTS hit the silver screen. So you could have spoiled yourself via various cutscenes. The movie tie-in games situation was absolutely crazy back then. Oh no, don't go, admirable Acolyte, i will be so miserable without you. Commercially, it doesn't make much sense for Lego. Emotionally, it doesn't make any sense for me. So i see it as a win-win-situation. For the dozens of other people out there... they probably won't see it that way. -

Yes, of course. Like i said in one of my first postings, it's gotta be challenging to juggle between all these different sub-themes all at once. This is the "content over cinema" kinda era. Not the early simple days, when you had a single movie come out every three years and could then easily focus on a single ongoing show. And yep, it's impossible to cater to everybody. And i would argue this would help matters at all. If you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one. What we do need (and is in the realm of possibility) is a return of balancing play sets out at least a bit better than what we have right now. This can be done with or without the 18+ sets/extra formats. Even with all this additional stuff, nobody can tell me that you absolutely have to have both flagship sets of the upcoming summer August wave to be of TCW/ROTS origin. And if we only had like half of the Adults Welcome products, we could even have something of a reasonable 50:50 split between OT and PT, plus still some sets based on new shows. However, i don't see this 18+ madness gonna stop anytime soon. I consider myself to be both a Star Wars and Lego fan, potentially the former a bit more than the latter. Even though it's such a magical connection that it isn't easily severed from one another. And if i remember correctly, i got into both at pretty much the exact time. While there are a few other licensed themes that are interesting to me as well, i think without Lego Star Wars i would not have registered on Eurobricks. So, i would make the distinction between a Lego Star Wars fan first and a Lego fan second. Well, if we are to compare mainline episodes with single seasonal shows, i can play this game, too. And even go a little beyond that... neither did Tales of the Jedi, Empire, and probably, Underworld. But yeah, i get it... If all you get to eat is a whole lot of Nothing-Burgers for the better part of a decade, you better cherish that bone... fleeting at that might be. That was a solid boss battle in Jedi Survivor. The one and only The Black Series figure that i own is Cad Bane. As compensation for never owning one of his minifigs, until that finally changed as well.
