  1. Well, I'm glad you like the project. :)
  2. Thanks, Hobbestimus!!
  3. Jargo, thanks for the honest feedback--LEGO and Disney have worked together on several different properties now, and they seem to be playing nicely. The Muppets are owned by Disney now, and there's the Muppet sequel in the works. I think it's possible for them to make it happen if they want to. I think the licensing issue is a small one--and LEGO has encouraged me to keep going, both in official comments and unofficial ones privately. The other issue (new moulds for heads, especially) is the much bigger hurdle, and I agree that it may spell the end of the project. But again, LEGO hasn't pulled the plug yet, and I'm going to keep on trying. Honestly, if this did make it through to production, I can see LEGO doing it with only a few new heads: Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo...they could get away with a face print for Miss Piggy (although I think a new head sculpt would work better)...and then there are enough Muppets you can make without new sculpts that they could have a pretty diverse cast of characters---the Swedish Chef, the Electric Mayhem band, Bunsen and Beaker, etc. Just because I'm obsessed with Muppets and keep making more and more and more and more of them doesn't mean that's how I think LEGO would actually handle it. In any case, thank you for the feedback. I do appreciate it. If you feel like you can't support it, that's okay too. :) RoamingStudio, Thanks for pointing that out--both about the licensing/ownership issues and the difficulties of translating Muppets into plastic toys. I think the design of the Muppets can be hard to pull off in LEGO form, but the more I make the attempt myself as a sculpting/painting/designing amateur, the more I think the real professionals at LEGO would have solutions and ideas that would make it work. They're the best in the business--they could pull it off. :) And I love that Palace Cinema--didn't even think about it as the Muppet Theater, but I love it. Of course. :)
  4. Hey guys, there have been several updates since my last post on this here, including "Official Comments" from LEGO, and they said to keep on going. So I'm keeping on going. The blog Muppet Mindset just published an article on the proposal here: http://themuppetmindset.blogspot.com/2012/12/quinn-rollins-and-great-muppet-lego.html and there are more LDD images, custom minifigs and some other stuff there. I'm almost up to 50 custom minifigs, and I know that realistically there's no way LEGO would ever take it that far, but I'm a little bit OCD and I'm just doing this for fun. Anyway, if you're interested check it out, and either comment here or there--I'm sure I'll see it.
  5. Nice review--I'm much more a DC than a Marvel guy, but I think you (and the price point) just pushed me over the edge. Thanks!
  6. I think this trailer makes it look more enjoyable than the first--funny, exciting, some Lone Ranger key points, like being the last survivor of a regiment of Rangers, the silver bullet, "Kemosabe"...plus a lot of scenery from my part of the world. Love Southern Utah!
  7. Spock and Wonderpuddle, I love both of those. I'm working on one as a gift for a friend, but I'm throwing in a few white pieces here and there. It's a big cheat, but time is running out. :) I do hope LEGO makes an official set someday, but I won't hold my breath.
  8. Somehow I'm a Lone Ranger fan from the 70s too, and even though I'm not that excited about the movie, I like the look of these sets. I think I'm most interested in the cavalry and Comanche sets. Can't wait to see what they are.
  9. Great entries -- hope my boss didn't hear me laughing. I'm "at work." 5 by MadAboutLego - 1 point 8 by seaotter71 - 1 point 11 by whataboutlego - 1 point
  10. Loved this contest. My votes: 7 by Kristel - 1 point 10 by TheJoker1 - 1 point 22 by Brig. Brick - 1 point
  11. Yeah, Brickforge got me with these too. And then for some reason I added three sheep to my order. I don't know what's wrong with me.
  12. Hey guys, just a heads up that my Muppet LEGO CUUSOO proposal has been updated with 8 new custom minifigures: Gonzo (Purple Tux) Gonzo (Stuntman) Camilla Random Chicken Swedish Chef Sam Eagle Statler Waldorf If you're interested, check them out here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050 More on the way soon, and more LDD sets.
  13. I love it--nice design, great execution. I've held off on making a Batgirl, because I really like the Barbara Gordon...but can't figure out how to the cowl + hair. May end up stealing your recipe and going that route instead. :)
  14. Really love that Catwoman--wish LEGO had put out one that was more movie-accurate. Great torso design--love the texturing there. Looks like a great solution!
  15. Yeah, I think everyone has already said everything that I would say, but I just wanted to add that that's always been a favorite Enterprise of mine as well--I remember in the pre-internet time (shudder) poring over the book "Mister Scott's Guide to the Enterprise" and going over every curve and angle and detail, and you've done a fantastic job bringing her to life here. I especially love the curves of the saucer (incredible job) and the area around the photon torpedo tubes. When I was in math class and learning how to draw starships (instead of doing my math assignments), that was an area I was always particularly fond of for some reason. Like...mastering that part really MADE it the Enterprise. I dunno. In any case, you did an amazing job. That's a masterpiece. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
  16. D'oh. Thank you. Sorry. I don't understand most of the things you said. So I'll just leave this...here.
  17. LuxorV, thanks for the tips. I'll try to be compliant and non-annoying. Battle_Gorilla, thanks for the reminder. I'll try to milk the death of my hero to support my project. THROUGH MY TEARS! ...and I actually will try. LOL. I have some input on several of the big Muppet fansites, and they've done some promotion, I've sort of been waiting until my project looks better to really go full-bore on them. That'll be coming soon. And JohnnyVGoode, thanks for the support. I know that the custom pieces hold some collectors back; on the other hand, I have Series 7 of the Minifigures looking at me right now, and I'm seeing bagpipes and space marine armor, and Viking chick, and Aztec stuff and a freaking bunny rabbit that are telling me they could handle making a few custom Muppet heads. :) If the idea's a good enough one for LEGO to pursue, they can make it work. A lot better than my proposal.

  19. Updated my Muppet Theater this weekend--if I may say so, much better this time around. Thanks for the support and suggestions. Here's what's going on so far... So there's the stage with the arches in the center, and Statler and Waldorf's balcony box seats on the right. Underneath their balcony, facing the other direction, I've added the ticket and concessions booth for the theater; not necessarily show-accurate, but I like it. ...on the left of the stage is the backstage area, with Kermit's desk and some sandbags and lighting control panel; I've added an upstairs as seen on The Muppet Show, and put Miss Piggy's dressing room up there. From the rear it looks like this: ...there's still an empty space underneath her dressing room--I was going to have it be a small garage for Gonzo's motorcycle, or something like that. Not quite sure yet. Before I wrap it up, I'm going to finish a small kitchen set for the Swedish Chef that can be put on stage in place of the arches, and a Muppet Labs set for Bunsen and Beaker to blow stuff up. Still working on building some play features into the design, but the skeleton of what I'm working on is there. Any other suggestions? I'm liking LDD the more I use it. This is kinda fun.
  20. (Thanks Teardrop) LuxorV, Is there a CUUSOO forum/thread around these parts? I checked with another moderator before I posted anything at all, not wanting to sully the good customizin' threads with crass pleas, and he said to go ahead and post the customization questions and ideas here. About a week ago, the same mod said he thought a CUUSOO place had opened up on EB, but he wasn't sure yet where it is. Any direction/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
  21. I really love that you're branching out from Gotham City and into the rest of the DC Universe. Aquaman and Martian Manhunter are fantastic, and I love your Superboy too. I've made one as well, but I'm thinking he looks better with that spiky hair. STOLEN! :) Great job on all of them. Even Cyborg.
  22. I'm a butcher of minifigs, so I'm not really big on Purist stuff, but Hobbestimus, LOVE that Lois Lane. Great choices for her. And I like your other choices too. Nice stuff!
  23. That's fantastic--Mr Freeze is one of my favorite Bat-villains, and that version with the Space Marines armor seems like a simple way to beef him up. Love it!
  24. Oh, Pengy. Fantastic work on all of them; I especially love Robin. And Freeze. And Alfred. And Selina. And Crane. And Ryder. I'll stop. And I laughed out loud at the Mad Hatter's victim. :) Infinite
  25. Thanks DLuders! Thanks for all of the suggestions, Roaming...I'll give it some thought and see what else I can build into it. Hmmm...
