  1. I get the sense that I've been waaay to optimistic about how strong Lego pieces are. The legs will carry a lot of weight and they don't carry it in a straight column, but the internal technic skeleton moves to the side (a 2-hole technic beam to the side), which I guess is too weak to carry the load. I guess that building something as complicated, heavy and fragile as an AT-AT when you try to do what I did, with poseable legs that are also thin, and a poseable neck, is too difficult if you don't test the lego in real life. I feel like giving up, since it's not fun to build if it wouldn't work in real life.
  2. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it a lot! In my design the head doesn't get any support from the wheels. In the UCS I've noticed that the head sags down and pushes the wheels togheter, since you own it, does the head get extra support from the wheels? I've looked at the instructions but it's hard to tell. If the technic beams aren't strong enough alone, I need to re-design the neck. I'm not going to build it in real life, it would be too expensive, so testing it isn't something I'll do.
  3. I'd appreciate feedback about whether you think the neck is sturdy enough to carry the head. Here's my design:
  4. I never realised that, but thanks for pointing it out. It's a shame that the AT-AT pilot helmets aren't decorated though.
  5. Great work, it looks awesome. But how did you add details to the helmets in Bricklink?
  6. Amazing build. You managed to make it look so detailed even though it's a small scale.
  7. I'm working on the movement for the head, to move side ways and up and down, with a wormgear holding it in place. Do you think this design would be sturdy enough to carry the head?
  8. I'm curious what people think of the proportions and size compared to a minifigure. Does it look alright? It's bigger than 175313, so does it look too big? The legs need to be a bit shorter for sure, which I will do. Here's the head I'm working on. I'm happy with how everything is fitting togheter, though I haven't figured out the internal structural stuff yet.
  9. Thanks!
  10. I'm still working my AT-AT. I'm probably a super-slow builder though.
  11. Amazing build! Do you have more pictures of it? I'd love to see them.
  12. I agree, the narrow legs are important for the skeletal, creepy look of the AT-AT.
  13. I've decided to try to continue to work on my AT-AT! I re-designed the leg to be narrower to be more accurate, and improved the detailing. I'm really happy with how they look, though I worry about how much weight the internal technical pieces can carry. They still use technic turntables with worm gears in the joints.
  14. Thanks. that's kind of you. I'm not very skilled with building so trying to build the rest of the AT-AT was very frustrating, so I lost motivation. If anyone wants the file with the leg, give me your email and I'll send it to you.
  15. Apologies for the late reply, but do you still want my at-at leg? If you give me your email I can send it to you :)

  16. Hi, apologies for the late reply, but do you still want my at-at leg?

      Thank you a lot =)

  17. Some progress on the interior. Unfortunetly it's way too big and spacious compared to how it looks in the cut-away artwork, due to my AT-AT being a bit too big. However on the plus-side, I think the AT-AT in the artwork is slightly too small compared to how large it looks in the movie, in the scene with Luke climbs it with the wire, so my AT-AT might not be as off as it seems at first...
  18. The internal structure and the way the walls fit togherer is almost finished. This has been a lot of work but it's going really well. The doors are also finished. The design for the door opening mechanism was taken from the official AT-AT.
  19. That's impressive. You must own a lot of lego to be able to do that also.
  20. Those two ships look extremely good. I'm a beginner to building with lego, which might be why, but I've no idea how you were able to build some things. I'd love to be able to take these ships apart and see how you did it.
  21. Great looking ship! I really like the grey, technical looking parts.
  22. Thanks! Your encouragement motivates me to push on :)
  23. I've re-designed the body, currently working on aligning the plates. It sure takes time to get them to align right...
