  1. How have I missed this topic :D. These mini things are really awesome! And the buildings are really detailed and so many different variations. Do you have any real life builds or only renders?
  2. OK, got the Bricksafe thing sorted. Pictures: Thank you =).
  3. Yeah, life goes on and years pass by =) ... But the project still lives! It isn't getting the attention that it used to, but... I will not let this fade away =). Too much has been invested :P. There are two new trucks in progress and could be said that those are finalized. From story perspective - these are the trucks that were used to start this whole crystal hunting adventure in the Lego wasteland. There was a simple flatbed with a simple flatbed trailer and then a container carrier truck. Both were built for offroading and right now the story is that it was me and my son, who started this whole thing by simply going offroading :P (in Lego wasteland ofcourse with the Lego trucks). And while offroading with these two specific trucks, the first crystal with mysterious power aura to it was found by coincidence. These are the trucks: ... Ugh, something has happened to Bricksafe and I can't access it at the moment. I will figure out a way to upload the images...
  4. This is indeed interesting and the apartment building looks very nice with the shrine and garden =).
  5. I still like the forward loader and the latest images also have a lime colored bucket kind of heavy machinery :P.
  6. Very nice =). The articulating axles look good =).
  7. Just published the finished instructions and the final build of the doublecab tractor / semi truck. Instructions can be found here: Offroad adventure double cab tracktor truck .
  8. This miniature excavator is a really spot on minifig scale mini thing =). The detailing is as fine as it could be and I really like it. I could really see it on a trailer of an SUV or something like that. This would even make a lot more sense in those official Lego construction sets instead of the toilets that they are always carrying around...
  9. Me and my son both took part in a local Lego event (Klotsimöll 2025): where we had multiple things on display and we also had the whole range of those adventure trucks laid out on the windowtable: I also did a quick shot at home where almost all the trucks and trailers are present (some still in WIP) with their whole glory: Quite an impressive park... In addition to the pictures there is again one idea formulating in the background. While the different containers for the container+modularbuildings are "in development", then it became apparent that we need also something simple to quickly just transport single containermodularbuildings and navigating with a trailer wasn't quite the thing so - a container truck is in "production". The must have feature at the moment is that it has to be able to load the container by itself without any crane... Just few prototype systems are left "on the table", but none of them still seem to be sufficient and reliable enough, so... Yeah, as always - to be continued :D.
  10. Haven't had the chance to write about the third tractor truck and trailer, but I did upload the instructions for the mega trailer in ReBrickable. Link to instructions: Offroad adventure truck's mega semi trailer instructions .
  11. Life has been busy as always, but I wanted to continue with the latest trucks and trailers. Today I will write about a quite simple truck with not so simple trailer: The truck is basically the same one as is the first tractor truck. Only difference is in the doublecab build and COE design. From features perspective, it just lacks the toolshak from the back. In our Lego wasteland we have plenty of trucks with tools and we just needed a truck with midrange power and to simply pull a trailer with a crane which at the same time had enaugh power to pull the trailer with full loaded containers and also could accomodate both a driver and a crane operator. Small list of features of the tractor truck: - front bushbar; - front winch; - two extinguishers; - long range antennas; - glow in the dark lights; - suspension on the last axle; - rear facing worklight/backup lights. More pictures or the truck itself: I have not yet published the instructions of this truck since there are few minor changes still coming to it, but those are not that much noticable. And since the truck isn't that much different from the first tractor truck, then I'm not in that hurry to publish it too. But the main thing about this truck is the trailer that it pulls :P : The main attraction and play feature is obviously the crane. The crane designe went through many iterations and the final proper playable result can be seen on the image below with it's all features: As can be seen from the image, the crane boom can be tilted and extended. There are additonal support legs to prevent the trailer from tipping while lifting containers. The cabin is accessable without any need to remove any parts and even with the boom in down position. From posing perspective, the crane does lack enaugh friction to hold the crane in the up position with a container attached to it while extended, but as the main goal was playability, then the that was the outcome. It is possible to make it with more friction, but my son got a bit frustrated, because it wasn't pleasant and the crane did not "work well" according to small experts :D. The crane can be turned on the trailer and is capable of covering the whole bed so it can actually lift containers to their designated places. Regarding containers, it can fit two large Lego containers or three small Lego containers - loading in action: From minor details, the crane has 180° worklights at the front and some beacons and engine details. The whole "superstucture" is very sturdy and it will not break off from the trailer nor break apart itself either and can withstand quite rough play. The support legs are somewhat flmsy, but not too much so it would become frustrating. Only thing that my son did change, was by swapping those 2×2 tiles with one stud that were intended to hold the containers in place with 2×2 tiles without stud. Supposedly this made the loading easyer and operating the crane also smoother. The trailer also has a small tow hitch at the back so this whole thing can in addtion tow one doublebed trailer for the minifigs to sleep =). And as always - the trailer has glow in the dark studs in the front and the back of the trailer. Some renderings of this whole thing: WIP (work in progress) pictures with the almost final desing: Forgot to mention, but the trailers rear axle is also with suspension, so what ever the terrain, all wheels are touching the ground =). Instructions for this container trailer with crane can be found here in ReBrickable . To smooth this post up and as a bonus thing, then a more simpler trailer was also made which lacks any kind of special play feature. This is just a simple container trailer for either four small Lego containers or two big containers and one small container: The build is quite similar to the crane version and it is a bit more manouverable in the Lego world due to the axles being more towards the front of the trailer. Instructions for that can be found also on ReBrickable here . To be continued with the third truck and trailer...
  12. Heh, the snow time is passed and I don't have any pictures of that scenery, but I will keep that in mind for sure =). In snow those fat tires make really coold tracks.
  13. I still like the wheel loader :D. But why is the rear right tire not fitted properly :S ?
  14. Hehee, these are cool little builds =).
  15. Nice thing you have going there =). I really like the custom log handler/grabber on the first image in this topic. Much better than the Lego original from set 60181! I'd build the grabber a bit closer to the front wheels/cabin, but that would be me =). Keep it up (Y) !
  16. Today I will write about the MEGA trailer that was specifically tailored to the 5×5 tracktor truck. I emphasize that this trailer is not yet complete and still needs tweaks here and there and also the instructions at this point are not very good for young builders in mind. That is the reason why this isn't also published on ReBrickable. This massive trailer is more of an adjustable and configurable thing for support in mind. The configurable or adjustable element is about the capability of having different type of modules at the back of the trailer. The rear is made so that it could either have standard Lego containers at the back or dedicated attachments. Currently the only finished attachment is basically just a frame to have like a flatbed with sideboards: There are in "development and proofing" phase a kitchen module, restroom module, living quarters, office module, bedroom and workshop. All with the idea of being able to unload from the trailer and then to connect with eachother to have a module type of building to create like a more comfortable base near some power crystal exctarction site that could be later packed and moved to another location with the help of container trailers (will share them later). At the rear of the trailer there is also a bit more powerful, but with limited reach crane for simply unloading those modules on containers. For "building" and fine stacking/placing there is this other specialised offroad adventure truck with crane (this one). The crane has connected worklights in addition to the rear facing worklight connected to the trailers cabin and is on a turntable so with its limited reach it could still lift the containers or modules clearly away from the trailer (supposedly very important thing according to my son :). The crane: Now, another important thing is (especially with three axles) to have all the wheels touching the ground. My son still hates those Lego sets, where with multiple axles not all axles are touching the "road". For that I bulit the same fake suspension thing as with all the other trucks from the series and it works well with quite sufficent travel concidering the lenght of the trailer: Moving on towards the front of the trailer, there is the access to the built on workshop. The access is fairly similar to the first multipurpose long trailer in form of a connected ladder. Along with it on the side is the standard adjustable wrench for fixing the modules, containers to the back of the trailer and also next to it is a spare wheel for either the trailer, the tracktor truck or any other offroad adventure truck, if needed: Behind the spare wheel and towards the front of the trailer - there is the magic place of the trailer: the powerhouse/generator. There are two hoses (missing on the picture). One for pressurized air and the other for water. The transparent water container has a built in pump with level and pressure sensors with gauges. Ouh, and visible on the previous image is the stands retraction/extending function gear above the spare tire. The standing leg can be lifted inside by turning the gears (visible on and reachable on both sides. And as always - working lights everywhere :D : At the front of the trailer is a ladder for accessing the first resting spot/bed for one minifig. Design is exactly the same as it was with the smaller trailers for those other adventure trucks: Continuing from the other side, there we have the fuel tank. Similarly to the water thank it has also the built in pressure sensors, pumps and stuff with the proper gauge and display for it. The hose for refueling is also next to them and so is the second spare wheel with tire as on the other side. Next to the left side spare wheel there is also a long range antenna for every communication need: On top of this generator/powerhouse section on the roof there are exhaust and ventilation grilles and huge solar panels to be able to feed it as a main power source. The generator is only used, if there is no sun and it would run on the fuel, but it should be avoided in general, because the fuel is mostly intended for refueling trucks: The access to the built in workshop is also similar to the first multipurpose trailer by tilting it open. Opening it would uncover the heating unit and ventilation pipes/routes: The workshop has ceiling lamps for illuminating the space. At the front of the workshop we have a selection of tools, a PC for any kind of communication needs, looking and technical drawings, diagnosing broken trucks, designing on-site replacement parts and etc. Below the PC there should be drawers with tools, but the drawer are still missing on this build... There is also a fire extinguisher as there should be in such working environment, but it is guarded and not very well accessable and is a subject to change in future - but this is how it is at the moment. And ofcourse we have the mandatory cup for drinking water (as it is with almos every Lego vehicle ;) : Back of the workshop are the powertools for building those on-site designed spare parts. A simple drill and a grinder/polisher: On top of the workhouse we have another bed. Access to that bed is via the same ladder that is used for getting into the workshop. When the workshop door is open, then the ladder can be in raised position so a bit of imagination must be used, when the minifig is climbing to the bed from the workshop: While the build is somewhat smashup of previous builds, it still has a bit of own personality in sense of the way those things are combined. It has some unique things to it too =) and the articulated 5×5 truck makes dragging and manouvering of this trailer very easy. To be continued with the other trailer and trucks...
  17. Thank you =). Well, the MOC's didn't just start by simply creating something - they had a story behind it so it was kind of fun for me to share the story with other Lego fans =). Maybe even to get some imagination running for others who are looking for some inspiration :P. And yeah, the builds are strong, since the key thing was playability and not just the aesthetics. Heh, yeah, stickers are cool and all, but since those models got a bit rough treatment at first (actual snow, sand, mud), then stickers weren't in mind. The real life scenery and play locations have changed and stickers may be a thing now, but neither me nor my son have had any thought about it. I do have some other MOC's which are more of my own thing (but got the inspiration from my son :D), where I do use stickers, but I've made it a thing for myself to use authentic Lego stickers :P. But the "Overlander" idea does sound cool :P... I might think about it ;).
  18. I have finally completed and fully finalized some of those forementioned items. But first, a little update on the base. The virtual thing has received a sauna room with additional bedrooms. Also, I don't have it completed in StudIO, but the moving crane section in the long garage section received "automation" feature so now there is a simple crank which moves the crane to the back and front. A little glimpse of the virtual base: The sauna has a lightbrick in it that can be turned on and will remain on from an external "button" kind of thing. The base itself has grown to be a bit too huge from space perspective so it is somewhat difficult to play with it when it is in a corner. To be able to fully use it, then it has to be situated in the middle of the room. The real life version is far from complete and is more like a mix of colours and stuff, but I have made instructions of part of the modular sections and I will publish them at some point, when me and my son are perfectly satisfied with all parts of the different buildings =). Now, the new trailers and trucks. As mentioned, then the latest trucks are inspire by some external factors and not so much from play needs. First truck that was made, was this 5×5 truck with articulated middle section. It has become kind of a favorite from play perspective and not because of some special features, but just because of the "powerful" look. There is also a massive trailer tailored specially for it with swappable rear sections. Here is a picture of both the truck and trailer: The trailer is still in it's building phase and is not fully finalized, but it is with many features =). I will post them, when I have made more pictures of it and when it functions without problems =). But about the 5×5 truck. It has two fixed axles and three of them are with the independent suspension which works quite well on this truck. And the middle articulating part makes it really easy to play and drive around with. The rear winch is also very convinient to use and is somewhat borrowed design from the flatbed trailer. While it is not used very much at the moment, then the long term idea is to have some ultra heavy trailer for towing those trucks on some offroad conditions so when the highway COE truck can no longer continue, then there would be like a heavy weight alternative =). Renderings of the 5×5 truck: You can see a lot of similarities with the previous trucks and it will fit right in with the others. For ReBrickable link to instructions (and more pictures) - click here . I will write about the other trucks and trailer soon, but this theme and this scenario is far from over =) and there are still a lot to come. There are some heavy forest machinery also in creation at the background in addition to some other types of vehicles. The most incomplete thing is still the XXL twinblade helicopter that can be noted on one of the base pictures on the helipad... This does not get a lot of attention in real life, so I haven't invested any time in that yet... It has received kind of a medical bay and also a resting cabin in addition to the cockpit, but it is too flimsy to be playable and needs a lot of "restructuring" =). To be continued...
  19. Ouh, the squirt thing - it is a mess! Yeah, it was fun for a while. My son actually replaced it with a ladder afterwards (we have the set 60214 with the squirt thing).
  20. Haven't updated this topic for a while again. There have been few updates to the existing trucks (nothing noticable), but as my son has gotten older, then there has been a new need for different types of trucks. PC games (car games mostly) is the biggest influencer at the moment in our Lego world. Also, I have received few requests from WWW too and therefor, there are three trucks and three trailers on the way. The base has also been extended a bit with more bedrooms and more leisure locations =). About the trucks. The first truck was supposedly not powerful enaugh to pull the huge trailer - therefor a new 5×5 truck has emerged which is very high powered and can pull the trailer very well and is also highly manouverable despite the axle configuration. It is also the first truck with a combinaton of steerable axles and a middle joint :P. Then there are two more trucks with fifth wheels. A double cab and a single cab version. Both are quite simple and fit very well with the rest from design perspective. Double cab is obviously just to fit an additional minifig for some heavy hauling and the single cab is the shortest truck of them all for best manouverability with a trailer. Not as powerful as other offroad trucks, but still a perfect machine for it's thing. Regarding trailers - all are semitrailers. From WWW requests there were wishes for some trailer to pull standard Lego containers. Now, I had some base for one container trailer from the beginning of this project anyway and after a little conversation about the ideas of a container trailer in general, we have created a semitrailer with a powerful crane for handling containers (with a closed spot for the crane operator) and three small 10×6 containers or for two 14×6 containers. The second trailer is also for containers, but this is just as simple trailer as it could be with just space for containers (either four 10×6 containers or one 10×6 container + two 14×6 containers). The third trailer is a simple massive fuel semitrailer and that is it without any special features in that sense. It does have a fueling hose attached to it, but I wouldn't say that it would make the trailer special. It will take some months to finalize all those above trucks, but I will sure share them once they have been built as designed and approved by my little tester =).
  21. In Estonia, most of the ambulances (including new) are still red on white. Police cars are mostly blue/white. Fire trucks and fire department, yeah - those have a lot of variation from white to any kind of neonish or bright color. But the base color is always still red for fire dep. vehicles. But this is for Estonia...
  22. All golden words. In my mind, 4-stud wide cars or 5-stud wide cars are Lego City and 6-stud wide trucks are also Lego City scale. Occasional 6-stud wide cars like the earlier Speed Champion things - I can accept that, but the nowadays 6+ studs wide cars and 8+ studs wide Speed champion things are way off already and do not fit in a Lego City scaled things - even the streets are too narrow for those to look proper. Colours - I don't get the neonish colours also. The classic black-blue-white for police vehicles and white-red for ambulance vehicles is proper. Nowadays colours look soo unrealistic or over played. I mean, for example the set 60418 - this looks like a full-size campervan with a paintjob. And not because of the build, but just because of the colours. That is not a police truck. These are my thoughts and opinions on the matter =).
  23. Very good looking build ! Thumbs up for this one =).
  24. Finally the final truck has been published and I finally have time to show the pictures here too =). Since I don't have a proper camera set then phone pictures will have to do. I did some renderings also. Lo and behold: The truck is a simple thing in itself with the glow in the dark lights, sidehorns and load of lights in the front. There are also hidden beacons inside the grill which aren't that visible. The flatbed has a spare tire for those offroad trucks and some cupboard space under the spare wheel that is accessable via doors from both sides. The flatbed is equipped with a winch and also few simple tools. The truck cab has also some minor things at the back like a showel and two fire blankets. The ramps are fully usable due to the low nature, then it does not scrape the nose of most of the Lego cars for that matter. I haven't made any real life pictures with the ramps lowered, so here is a rendering: Last, but not least, I don't have any real life pictures at hand at the moment with any offroad adventure truck on it, but I did make a rendering =). Instructions can be obtained from ReBrickable for a fee, as always. Next thing that I will probably introduce and start showing step-by-step, is going to be that base. I have most of it already finalized virtually - BUT I must emphasise that it has not been built in real life, so I am not very sure about all the functions and stuff, but in Stud.io, it looks good and promising =). More on that later :P.
  25. Since the offroad capable trucks still tend to be quite fuel hungry on long paved road stretches, then last wheeled vehicle for those trucks was needed - something to haul them on the highway. That was the last truck that I made for this series. It is very different from the previous trucks and few weeks ago last tweaks were made and our mandatory childproofing. The truck is a bit part heavy as all those builds have been. I will make some pictures with my phone soon (hopefully in the upcoming week) and I'll post it up here with all the details and stuff =). A little glimpse of that truck can be seen from a teaser post where I had the whole theme in one render. Since then, the truck has received some minor changes and upgrades. In words - it is a COE (cab over engine) or EU style trailer truck with a lowbed trailer that could fit any of those offroad trucks (or any other vehicles for that matter).
