  1. Definitely, I learned a lot from this entry and my previous one (King Kahuka’s Throne). All the comments on this forum have been really helpful and I appreciate all the feedback. Next contest I’ll be bringing my A game!
  2. The crate is a little big for the raft, I just wanted to hold the items but maybe the food items could sit in a bowl instead. Thanks for the comments!
  3. Good points, maybe I should’ve gave him a coconut and a straw for a drink! And I wasn’t sure about the background, I drew something quick and added blur, but I guess it does look weird. Thanks for the feedback. I actually had the barrel tops as round studded plates first but I thought they would leak, lol. There’s a Forest Man set with only four barrels for the raft, looking at it now I could've done something like that!
  4. Here’s a remake and upgrade to the classic pirate set 6234: Renegade’s Raft. The original set did not have sails so I gave him some makeshift palm leaves to improve his chances at escaping from that viscous shark! 36pcs not including the minifig. NEW IMAGE: I used some of the feedback from the previous images to create this new and improved version. It’s hard to see the items in the crate, there is a banana, a coconut with bamboo straw and a treasure map. I also added a parrot the represents the new 3-in-1 recolour, which is one of my daughter’s favourites. Thank you to everyone who posted comments! 40pcs not including the minifig. (Original Image)
  5. Very good points, I struggled with putting enough detail on the croc and it’s size. I did get carried away with the plants, I see that now. Thanks for the feedback!
  6. Appreciate you taking the time to write. I did have some of the same thoughts while making it, but as soon as I started “enhancing” certain aspects I felt compelled to keep adding. I was thinking of what they did to games like Final Fantasy 7 when it was remade. The remake barely resembles the original, although you can see the inspiration. I spent the most amount of time changing around the look of the statue. At first it looked like the Kings mask, then it ended up looking like a bird. I do appreciate all the comments and I will certainly take notes for my future designs!
  7. Thanks for the tips, and I will try not make the wind go opposite direction in future builds (but maybe there was a tiny tornado?) I also added a couple more images as requested, I do enjoy learning and trying new things, so this has been a fun experience!
  8. Thank you, I honestly just started using BrickLink Studio at the beginning of this year for their BrickLink Designer Program. I’ve also learned a lot through some activities on LEGO Ideas. When I seen a contest on Eurobricks I just had to participate, Pirates were one of the first themes I fell in love with as a kid so it’s been a lot of fun revisiting that joy through communities like this! I’ll definitely do that when I get a chance, I’m still pretty new at the digital design but I’ve learned a lot of neat tricks and continue to learn with each build I make. It’s definitely more of a MOC than what the contest requires, maybe I got a little carried away with the jungle, lol. I actually don’t know how to bring fabric into BrickLink Studio. And thanks for the suggestion with the croc, I’ll play around with some other ideas and see if I can get it looking more realistic.
  9. Thank you for all you help. I was having a little trouble, maybe because I was doing this all from my iPhone. Anyway, I think I got the hang of it and I do really appreciate it! Thank you, I had teeth on the croc, but it didn’t look quite right, plus it would be a bit too scary I think, lol

  11. Thank you, I’m new to this platform so hopefully my link works. I originally wanted to do the Enchanted Island, but that was a little too big of an undertaking for me. So many great suggestions, I appreciate the feedback. Traps and hidden treasure would be great additions, unfortunately I didn’t think of those… and I can’t believe I didn’t include a frog, lol I used the zebra-print drum-top for the throne, and used a similar pattern under the pile of gold, however both are hidden. Next time I render images I’ll try to show some cutaway views. Thanks! Thank you for the welcome! I tried to insert photos but I was only able to add a link. Hopefully that works. And I’m definitely open to suggestions on how to make my posts better!
  12. I remade a rather small set into something more appropriate for the 18+ adults that would appreciate the nostalgia of this set. As with most 18+ sets, I have included fully brick built elements such as the boat and crocodile, and made the islanders appear a little more savage. The original King Kahuka’s Throne had a less impressive seat for the king, so I chose to upgrade that since it is one of the main features of this build. https://www.flickr.com/gp/198704374@N03/We033qL793 Here’s the original for reference
