[OFFICIAL] LEGO Group to Release New Sail Piece (2023)
CvS replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
...if you're looking for this sail: Disney Sail on Marktplaats.nl for €2,50 (Marktplaats.nl is sort of a Dutch eBay) -
See this video (around 0.40 sec.) for an (short) example: Mini-Billund Facebook video The treasure chest opens, with sounds and changing lights. Can't reallt remember exactly what the other cabinets had for effects, sorry. But it wasn't anything dramatic.
-
...activate the 'light, sound and moving parts,..'.

Than two are missing, or not displayed, in Hoorn at the moment, I think: (pic. via your link) and (pic. from the Facebookpage of Mini-Billund) Do you know who made them? LEGO themselfs? Commissioned by LEGO?
-
Yes, of course. No problem! No need to credit me though. Will you post your video here, once it's finished? I am very curious now! Didn't expect such positive reactions in response to some snap shots... Now I feel extra dull that I didn't take better pictures... There is a very slim change I'll visit the exhibition again. When I do, I will definitely take better pictures! The exhibition will run for a longer periode, I think untill january '24 now. That won't be easy though. The cabinets are tucked away in the corners of the 'museum cafe' / area where the kids can build themselfs to earn a 'Master builder certificate'. You could maybe email the museum and ask if they can take some highres. pictures(?) Really nice to read some background info about these cabinets! Yes, they are all still working, with some moving elements and lightning effects. Maybe that also explains why the buttons have German text next to them? AND the flashlight! Was already wondering why.... I think they obtained them from another LEGO-museum in The Netherlands that closed its doors (8-2022): Mini-Billund in Wagenberg. The website states: 'By acquiring perhaps the largest LEGO collection in Europe, the Museum of the 20th Century can show a beautiful exhibition that is interesting for young and old. Hundreds of minifigures are on display, as well as models of no less than two meters high. There are dioramas with light, sound and moving parts, ...' Part of the collection of Mini-Billund 'will be up for sale in the future', according to https://www.museumestate.com/ If you Google Mini-Billund and Wagenberg you'll find some pictures. There Facebook-page is still online. There are some pictures of the dioramas there -> Mini-Billund Facebook The cabinet you mentioned, with Foul and Jimbo, wasn't present in Hoorn (or I didn't see it). The Facebook-page however shows a picture of yet another cabinet that wasn't present (or displayed?) in Hoorn: the captain and the kid with green cap in the dinghy, #3. So maybe the cabinet collection got split up? Do you know how many there were in total?

There is a LEGO exhibition -90 years LEGO- in the Museum of the 20th century in Hoorn, The Netherlands. https://www.museumhoorn.nl/pg-5548-7-137687/pagina/expositie_90_jaar_lego.html Of course they also had some Classic Pirates LEGO sets and some Pirates dioramas. I thought I'd share some of the Pirates stuff here. More pictures can be found here: https://bricksafe.com/pages/CvS/lego-tentoonstelling Someone else also made a short vlog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5AonIy3jko (Dutch) Unfortunately I didn't bring a proper camera and it was quite difficult to take good picture beacuse of the light, space, other visitors, (my kid ;)etc. I hope you enjoy them never the less. [edit: I can't get the pictures to show full size here(?)]

...and the ladders (#6020), why are they black instead of brown?? Would they have been made out of wood, or metal?

Just built this ship and I must say: quite a nice little ship. I like it more then I thought. Or, to be honest, I even disliked it before. Too small and compact, those colors, that silly figurehead, ... I have never owned it before, as a kid, and didn't think I would ever buy it as an AFOL (since 1-2023). But the urge to complete Classic Pirates sets '89 - '93 (plus '94 since last week) got the upper hand . Plus: someone unexpectedly accepted my bid on a sort of Dutch eBay. So I got it at a reasonable price. Having really built it myself, I'm quite charmed by it. It's also not as small as I thought. A windfall!

Does anyone know (a trick) how to open up the hull pieces: 6050c05 and 6052c05? There are a couple of screws, but also some sort of clips that keeps the two parts together. I don't want to mess up an old, classic hull piece trying to open up the latter with a knife, screw driver or something... I just bought a 6268 and washed it. But also want to dry it thoroughly

Anyone else also only gets the 'Top 9' pictures if you click/follow #LegoPirates?! Or any other hashtag... I used to be able to endlessly scroll through pictures/posts related to LEGO Pirates via #LEGOPirates. Got a section 'most recent' and 'most popular'. Both with an infinite amount of content. I loved it! For inspiration, new ideas, 'Exceptionally good LEGO Pirate Photography', finding new, interesting accounts, to relax etc etc. It's a good digital addition to the real LEGO and this Forum. Now, since a couple of weeks, I only get NINE Pirates-related pictures . No point in continuing using Instagram now... Ok, apart from my 'own' timeline. But that makes it harder to find new, Pirates specific stuff. Can't really find a lot of info on it on the web; mainly one Reddit-topic. Any suggestions? Same problem? I only use Instagram on my laptop/browser.

Has anyone already had a go at tiling the courtyard? With similar stone tiles like the ramp, or square tiles? Something like this, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Charles_(Jamaica)#/media/File:Port_Royal_Fort_defenses.JPG I think most Caribbean forts had some sort of paved courtyard(?).

-Nobody else thinks the 'gaps' on the corners of the governors balcony (wall) are a bit strange? I filled them with a 1x1 brick with a tile on top. That way you have a continuous wall, with the front part -with the muskets- being a bit higher (for protection(?)) than the corner and side walls. -Also changed the double red plate, round 1 x 2 with open studs in that wall and in several other places. For just one red 1x2 plate, or one red 1x2 plate and one red 1x1 round plate. The double 1x2 plate looks ok in some places, but really strange in other. -That brown, round 'blob' at the base of the palm tree on the beach, needs to resemble the bottom piece of the old palm trees? I think it looks quite strange and removed it. -The gangway leading from the governors balcony to the other module, is too narrow and the walls too high to properly place a minifig.... -And some further, minor adjustments: - added some greyish tiles and slopes here and there on the rockwork. That rockwork is ok, but really simple. Quite repetitive with a limited number of different types of bricks. - added quite some small plants and green stuff, on the rock work and edges of the fortress. - Changed the court yard from black to grey and added wood printed tiles to the hatch. - added some minifig. accessories like barrels, lanterns, food, animals. - added black tiles on the central point of the crane. And changed the minifigs: heads and hats. Need to order parts to change the front gun placement to yellow.

Maybe that factory mega-PAB-store at LEGOLAND Germany has something to do with it? -

The moving truck as well?! Nice. Bought my copy of 10320 today and also got the three GWP you mention, although I was 'officially' five Euro short of the €220,- limit. That I got three was a nice surprise, since I thought I would only get the Blacktron Cruiser. But didn't get the truck (already have it though ;) What is IP Marked? intellectual property? It's all property of TLG, right? What am I missing? Will do. But I hope you're patient. It might take a while...

Exactly my opinion as well! My Pirates sets are all from '89 - '93 . Apart from PoBB and the Creator Pirate Ship (31109). ps. my avatar says enough ;)

Yes, my plan exactly! The lighthouse is, for some time now, already on my 'LEGO shelf'. The spot for the new EF has, in the meantime, been by taken Captain Redbeard(s) and his maty. Waiting impatiently for their chance to plunder the fortress again. And out of revenge, because they're not included in the remake... https://bricksafe.com/pages/CvS/40504-redbeard--the-lighthouse One thing: it would leave no (real) room for the pirates... (I think the lighthouse is most suitable for the Imperials)

Today an employee of the LEGO Store Amsterdam (NL) gave me a tip to wait untill monday/tuesday to buy 10320, because of 'something extra '. I was already in line for the register, but asked if they had one with the transport box, so put it back on the shelf. He didn't want to say what (GWP) it was exactly... ('I wasn't allowed to say anything at all, really')

Thanks!

[CONTEST] Return of the Classic Pirates - WIN a 10320 Eldorado Fortress
CvS replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Interesting... My reasons for (probably) not participating, but observing: - two kids, one being three months old - space to build - experience with MOC's -
'Coming Soon on 7 July 2023... ...VIP Early Access on this set starts on 04/07.' So, is that only via LEGO.com or also in the LEGO-stores?
