As pointed out, 10% off all lego merely makes TRU prices comparable to other outlets--for example: 4.LEGO Space Police: Hyperspeed Pursuit (5973) List Price: $54.99 Our Price: $49.49 The "our price" is the current sale price--the same set is listed on SAH for $49.99. As for the 30% sets--this would be a good time to get Brickbeard's Bounty if you haven't--it's listed at $73.49, which is a pretty good price. Otherwise, the rest of the 30% sets are ones I've seen clearanced at other stores months ago (don't know about Duplo). In other words, TRU is using this sale to clear out old sets (probably for Christmas room). Hopefully the weekly specials will get better--

Toys R US buy 2 get 1 free (Saturday 09/26/09 USA

Managed to make it to TRU and got a Venice Canal Chase as my freebie. Should have picked up the 3 remaining Peril in Peru sets. Sadly, there were no Temple of Doom sets available--either they were already sold out or TRU took them off the shelves for this sale. -
Excellent work indeed. The round 1X1s look much better than I imagined. There's a good chance I'm going to pirate that idea...

While I have heard of Alestorm, I have not heard of Running Wild. Thanks for the tip!

That IS a lot of blue tiles! Great attention to detail. Not too sure why the windmill is sitting on a rock in the harbor...I would've put the lighthouse there instead. Still, great job.

That's great! The Imperials were the bad guys! Yay pirates!

Very cool--I'm also a fan of the series. Any plans for creating vehicles (like a Death Glider, perhaps)?

Well, I'm a teacher, but the school won't buy me any Lego for my classroom. However, I do encourage Lego usage for projects the students make. So far I've seen MOCs for the play Julius Caesar, several castles for Hamlet, and a video made with Lego characters for the book To Kill a Mockingbird. While not everyone makes Lego projects, most love to see them.

Therein lies the problem I have--when I was young, it didn't matter if the castle walls mixed blue and red bricks or if my Lego knights and firemen joined forces to battle the nefarious Playmobil army. Now I can't even use the giant viking swords because they "don't look right" to me. Yes, I still play with Lego...but now I play more seriously with Lego, if that makes any sense. One of the things I miss the most about those "good old days" was finding a new set in a store and opening it in the car to get the brochure to see what other new sets were becoming available. Then I'd plan which one was for Christmas, and which one would have to wait until my birthday....

You say that like it's a bad thing. I'm a teacher and every year on September 19 I celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day. It's too bad that it happens on Saturday this year, as it's something the kids usually enjoy doing. For anyone's who's interested, these are the guys that started the holiday: http://www.talklikeapirate.com/

For my two cents, I think it'd look cooler with a couple of side-mounted engines, like Serenity from the Firefly show. Some landing gear would also help, but as this is a WIP you probably already have that in mind. Thanks for sharing--

What a great idea! Reminds of Warhammer, wherein the opposing factions face off in different time frames. The large troll with the flamethrower arm is my favorite. Not sure about the dragon--is that a rocket on his back to help him fly? Overall, nicely done. Hoping you'll build bases for the factions.

Excellent attention to detail--I'm especially impressed by the tree on the back of the cloaks. What material did you use to for those cloaks? Great job--I'm officially jealous! -
I'll probably get this once it's available on SaH--partly because I want to see what these "lower quality" peices are like. Too bad about the shakos. It's odd since the all the other foot soldiers have come with them.

It's MOCs like this that make me love Eurobricks. Creative, fun, and well-executed. Nice job!

Well, I don't think I'm the oldest. I'm 37...if that makes me the oldest, than dang I feel old! As for all you young folks out there,

What was your last and or favorite video game you have played?
Buckshot replied to user's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Favorite game would have to be Fallout. Loved Fallout 1, 2, and after ten long years finally got to experience Fallout 3. War...war never changes... -
Awesome. I am officially jealous!

Managed six different Targets the other day; found, as usual, a variety of clearance items. The best deals: 7673 Magna Guard Starfighter and a 7674 V-19 Torrent, each for half price. Also found one Dwarves Mine for 40 bucks, so I grabbed that. One of the stores had nothing on clearance, but most had something. And what's up with 15% off? That's not clearance, that's barely on sale! Point is--it's a good time to look around.

Well, I can tell you from experience that there are no buxom babes in Evony. I played it for a while (beta was called Civony; that morphed into Evony), and I can also say that the game isn't all that great. Don't let the pretty digital girl tempt you! As for the ads, I honestly didn't notice them until reading this thread.

Wow--you certainly know how to make an entrance! 8' ship--a wonderful MOC. Thanks for sharing! Lego OCD, eh? You'll fit right in on Eurobricks

Mentioned in the news again: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england...rey/8168892.stm "Anyone interested in taking part in the Lego house build, or who has Lego bricks to donate, should e-mail lego@plumpictures.co.uk" Would be fun to help build, but they ain't gettin' none of my bricks!

There are other factors to consider, too. The nearest TRU for me is around 70 miles away--do I spend $15 on gas to get there or $15 on shipping from Shop at Home? Edit: sorry--sorta said the same thing blueandwhite said--yay for redundancy!

I only made the general showing on Saturday this year--but definitely plan on the doing the whole thing next year. An incredible experience.

The thing to remember with both Target and Wal-Mart (in the U.S.) is that each individual store appears to set its own clearance price (at least on Lego). I've found Lego half-price at one store and still at full price at another chain store less than five miles away. You've just got to look around and get lucky. The real question here is will the 10% off the $50 purchase work on clearance items? Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow
