  1. "If you're expecting recognition for slaying some guy named Alfredo, you're not getting it."
  2. "You slayed an emotion? ...What?"
  3. "Whose to say Vorpalis isn'tgoing to kill Faust on this "errand"? You are in no position to question my allegiance. Only a life of reclusion could produce someone like you."
  4. Sandman looks at Lind. "Faust blacklisted you. I convinced him to reconsider, because I thought having an assassin on board would be beneficial. So far, you've only succeeded in killing the wrong people. I accept responsiblity for the deaths you have cause. And should you cause more... I will not hesitate rectify my mistake." "Unless you want to be at the business end of a hammer, friend, I think you'd rather spend a little time in the cell while Vorpalis ties up his loose ends. Come quietly and you'll keep your head on your shoulders, and we can see what to do from there." QM Note: Bulk is not spouting rhetoric - you can choose to go quietly.
  5. "So what's the verdict? Drop your weapons and come quietly, and it can be arranged for you to not die. Any other route, and we're gonna have to get hostile."
  6. <You say that because you are a moon Elf. We are the privelaged class. I realized that long before Vorpalis came to town. We weren't taxed. The law was never enforced for anything short of murder. We were given land by birthright. it isn't right.>
  7. <I do not wish to either. But the violence can end. Loyalits are given an opprutunity to flee, or change allegiances. Murder is a last option. You know Vorpalis is better for this place than Faust ever will be. He's a dragon - he's lived for at least seven thousand years. He has the wisdom needed for ruling.>
  8. "What did you do?" "Although I refuse to break contract, I'm inclined to agree with their series of events. Faust would've stayed if he was the warhero in history."
  9. "What else would I mean when I say out of country?" "Pretty face like yours, you could've been an actress."
  10. "Thank you for the help, sir." I nod, and wait for the man and the kobold to respond...
  11. "Bounty is open-call. Sorry, sister, but the entirety of Mermont won't hesitate to kill you." "He's on some sort of out-of-country errand right now, but he'll be back at the Palace 'fore long. He would've tracked you down and killed you himself if he didn't have something on his agenda." "This isn't about race. It's about loyalties, and we were foolish to ever be loyal to Faust. If you aren't a loyalist, he doesn't have a bone to pick with you. But Faust built this country upon a lie from the very start, and who knows what it'd be like now if he didn't pull what he did?" "300 gold per head, for you lot anyway. That's pretty high up on the list. Only person with a bigger price is Merlay." "And Aeolus? He must have a high price." Aeolus... the guard captain of Mermont. They were supposed to find him too... "He would, if he didn't defect. He's on our side now. As for Vorpalis's side of things. I'm sure you know what happened in Mercution. Idiot king opens a big book, lets out a bunch of demons, and eventually gets so bad they have to sink the place. Vorpalis was there. He was right there, shredding through hordes of demons. Faust was there, too. He was a military general at the time - Vorpalis and Faust were not enemies then, but they had a... difference in tactics. Vorpalis would fly in, tear his enemies to shred, pend a day to lick his wounds, and press on. Faust had a habit of retreating, even when there wasn't danger. Needless to say, Vorpalis doing his thing and cleaning up demon after demon did not reflect well on ol' Faust. So he says he thinks he found a way to stop the demons in an old church catacomb. Leads Vorpalis down there, his army ambushes him, knock him out, manage to chain his claw to a pillar, and seals the exit - collapses the entire damn catacomb leading up to Vorpalis's prison. Faust buggers off to Northern Mercution when the priests of Ennoc sink the middle of Mercution, and nearly kill Vorpalis - someone who was making a legitimate difference - in the process. By the time he gets out, Faust has already established Moone and taken the throne. He does a couple of purges, pumps out some propaganda, and before long the roles were switched. Vorpalis was the coward, and Faust was the hero. Faust, being the "hero" he is, exiles Vorpalis. Vorpalis came back for something recently, and when denied, decides enough is enough... Faust's hold over Moone was going to burn down." "Imagine how different it would be if Faust didn't cripple Vorpalis, prevent him from doing his work. Imagine how our kingdom wouldn't be like if it wasn't run by a liar and a fraud, for centuries!"
  12. "He has a thing for the guillotine, so assuming we don't kill you... alive is best."
  13. "That wouldn't be related to the missing Countess, would it? A man named Zarovitch told me about her disappearance."
  14. "What story did he tell you about Vorpalis? That he was a coward, and Faust was the warhero?"
  15. I go to the skeleton guard, walking past Throlar as he continues to socialize with vermin. "Hello, sir. Does that gate just lead outside the city, or is it to somewhere else...?"
  16. "Doesn't matter what you think of yourself, only what others think of you. And i think you're better off as a jester or clown." <My name is Melody. And Vorpalis has put a bounty on your heads.> "A munchkin? Isn't that a pastry or something?" "Doppelgangers? What?" Melody turns to the party. "I'm afraid we're not playing dress-up - we're here to bring you in and collect the reward money." "And although the occasion ain't the best, it is good to see a member of your own species once in a blue moon." "Not often a all. Last time I had seen an ogre musta been a decade ago. Doubt we have much in common, though. Judgin' by the accent, I'm gonna guess you grew up in Nathuz, maybe Draida. Me, I'm a high kingdoms bloke, born and raised, til' they needed a farmhand over here that could "do the work of three men." Guess which ogre fit the bill. Name's Bulk, by the way." Bulk heaves his hammer behind his shoulder. "Listen. This is Vorpalis's country. Not Faust's." "Not anymore. Never should've been..." "I'm going to make a guess and say Faust has been lying to you."
  17. The air soon turns oppressive and dark as the party steps out of the clean air of Yukumo and back into the black fog enveloping the rest of the country. They make way through the woods, trekking over the roots and stumps of the plants, pushing towards Mermont. Winding over various fields, hopping the fence and trekking throguh a plot of farmland if need be, the party soon meets a duo in the woods... An ogre and a moon elf. "Oy. The hell d'ya think you lot are?" "You look mighty familiar..."
  18. With their business with the beggar settled, the party heads towards the woods... QM Note: Update coming soon to a theater near you!
  19. The young boy smiles and nods at Skrall's encouragement, only to go right back into being terrified at Lind's remark... "Please don't, sir..."
  20. The woman gratefully catches the bowl of broth, trying her hardest not to drop it, and gives a respectful bow. "Thank you, sir - thank you so much!" "Yes, we're from here. Rations are on a "first come, first serve" basis, and we've been stiffed twice..." "I hope it isn't too much to ask, but could you spare a remedy?" Laurence seems to calm down, a bit. "Do you think you're scary enough to scare that dragon away?"
  21. "Me? No. I got nothing else to offer you except Puffy - I'm no good in combat. To use it, just throw the lever on top. Throwing it to the left creates a burst of remedial mist, while shifting it to the right fires a concentrated jet of the stuff. Best of luck." The party begins passing through the Commoner's Quarters in order to leave the small town and make their way through the forests. There, they meet a distressed mother and her child... "Please, my son and I are starving. I have nothing to give you, but could you spare some food?" At the sight of Skrall, the young boy darts even further behind his mother, afraid of the ogre. "Mommy, the big monster, h-hes scary... Is he gonna eat me...?" "Laurence! That is no way of talking to anybody." The other turns back around to the party, and sighs. "I-I'm sorry, sir, he's never met an ogre before... I'm sorry if he insulted you."
  22. "From what I understand, it's just rubble..."
  23. What if I just want three dudes shooting the shit in a back alley, though? But yes, I can see that being the point. I just fear Wolfgang moshpits.
  24. I fear the day when QMs are going to have to pump out level 100+ enemies to be the lowest of the low. Oh, that random Wolfgang goon? Yeah, stronger then Steerpike, Violetta, and Donny combined.
