  1. Small buds were emerging from the basin of soil Glaz put the crystal in. "Am I sensing a bit of guilt, Karie? Don't - there's no need. There's no need to feel guilt. After all, I can phrase this one question a million different ways and probably get an answer that is just about everyone. Or maybe you'll get the same answers! And that's okay too. And on that note, just one more iteration, I promise, and then I'll get to the point of all this. I can tell you're starting to relax already, but I think me clarifying might help you out when all is said and done. Finally... Think a little bit about who you love the most."
  2. "Amber. Your group. Contact them. Call them off."
  3. Round Two of the Galvaros Brawl: >Lind VS Galvaros (front): Mortal Hit (KO!) Lind slashes once more at Galvaros, and the golem falls. Going in the front row there was foolish. You were still not healthy enough to sustain a blow at that distance. The next time, you will not be getting a second crack at one of my golems. Now, where do you three wish to proceed?" ----- "You might want to speak with Charon. His wings got scorched right off when he fell... Practically snapped his legs, too. He needed to crawl to pick up all the bits, and stitched it back together later - you can still see burn and suture marks where his wings split, if you look closely. You wish to see a Crystrow? Be my guest..." Corvis leads Siercon to a clearing. The azure winged creature -a Crystrow, it seemed, a rare relative of the Gryphon - carried itself across the plains in an elegant manner. It's vibrant fur set off its translucent wings. "Say hello." QM Note: In the interest of not messing up the space-time continuum, I won't do any further updates until Karie gets a bit caught up.
  4. Karie can tell that Glaz was still going about his work. He places the enchanted crystal in a basin of soil. "Did you straighten your posture? I can definitely see why - a lot of the angels here are kinda uptight. But that isn't neccasary here. feel free to let your shoulders sa and slocuh back in the seat and what not. Whatever is more relaxing than sitting stiff as a rail, y'know? Anyway, I think you've made your pick. And that's good! Now, this may be a redundant question - and excuse me if it is - but next, I want you to think about who you care about most." ------------------ "If I may be honest with you, I've no clue. This is the first time I've ever been truly clueless. There is the Proggs, but they're hardly animals - they're very sentient, with intelligence on par with humans and strength that can easily exceed the common man. Gryphons, though, that's an interesting one... They are beautiful creatures. Some of their biological cousins dwell here, rare ones, with feathers that look like they're made of crystal. They're... Quite beautiful. Enamored with the sky, I imagine, Siercon?" ---------------------- Round One of the Galvaros Re-Brawl >Lind VS Galvaros (back): Hit (16+23=39/2=20 damage, Fragile inflicted) >Lind VS Galvaros (back): Special Damage: Skewer! The golem lunges forward and pierces the knight's armor, but the Black Knight follows up by nearly cleaving the golem's head off of his shoulders. The hero is too stunned to properly rest, but he could still try the next round... "Hmm. Interesting strategy. Never seen one of my golems bleed out before, but it'll definitely work on something that actually has blood. I would see if you all wanted to band together and face Chakraval, but I'll need a decent amount of time to get him repaired, along with Fenrir, Novus, and I imagine Galvaros. Bottom line is, I don't have very much for you to train with anymore. Why not check out the rest of Eschaton? I'm always here, but the other angels like to hop from place to place and abandon their posts, hmph... Fact is, you might meet new faces even if you go somehwere you've already been. Oh, and by the way... We typically eat after second bell, so keep an ear out for that. Good work today."
  5. What, that it implies that he has a death count spreadsheet or something? Besides, I think Charon said something similar in 138...
  6. Galvaros Brawl, Round One: >Lind VS Galvaros (front): Damage (60-13=47 damage) Galvaros hits Lind once, and just like that, the Black Knight goes down. Strivus rushes to Lind's side and heals him. "...I'm not exactly sure what you were thinking there, kid, going against him from the front like that. Dust yourself off." Lind Failed The Duel! You are an oddity, Siercon. It's a numbers game, essentially. If erasing a city creates a smaller death toll than the death toll the city itself would eventually cause, than we'll erase it. War and demons are always cause for concern, of course, and Eubric is teeming from both. ...What would you like to save from Eubric, Siercon?"
  7. Dammit, was I thinking artifacts? You think I'd know after 15 quests and about 100 battles run.
  8. QM Note: Redacted due to being wrong! "Let me guess, Minstrel, right? The guitar is a bit of a giveaway, no empath senses needed there. Either way, take a seat." Glaz motions to some comfy chairs in the room. "I'm going to help guide you through under the assumption you're meditating to relax, and not to try and discover some universal truth or something. trust me, the boss does the latter, and it takes days - the former is far easier. I confess that this isn't going to be that magical or anything. This room is just a good place to clear your head, and I'll help you with it." Glaz speaks in a calm, soothing voice - just above a whisper, just below conversational volume - and continues. "Since the overall goal here is to not be so stressed out, I want you to start by closing your eyes, letting the rest of the world fade away for a little while, and think about who or what you're thankful for. That always helps me decompress, try it."
  9. "It's a very long story... We helped some people, and they helped us out with Amber, our objective." Carlos... You helped me enough by putting me in contact with Sarah. Hopefully you got out of that one okay.... I could've handled him. I'm not sure if you could've. "All's well that ends well, though, hopefully. ...Wait. Someone else used the portal? Who?"
  10. QM Note: I healed up the heroes as they entered battle, to prevent people entering these duels weakened. Could you specify the row you're fighting from?
  11. Or, actually, apparently Siercon knows it too, because that was the correct answer! That was the exposition you were supposed to get from that fella, but by deceiving him, maybe you'll get more?
  12. "...Correct. We can't destroy everything, yes? When we erase a place, there are some things that need to be made extinct. But these animals... There is no use in destroying them forever. They'll be returned to Olegaia, one day, when their numbers are good enough. Just a century or two ago we finally got to put the Bogossi back, thank the powers that be, those things require an acre of space to themselves. But you understand what's going on here. We can't erase everything. We don't necessarily want to. Since Immortalis did not outline your duties, why don't I give you a tour?" ------------------------------------------------------------------ Fenrir Fray, Round Three: >Arx VS Fenrir (back): Shield: Fury From Above (48x2/2=48 damage) >Arx VS fenrir (back): Damage (55/2=28 damage) (5 levels gained) >Arx VS Fenrir (back): Shield: Fury From Above (KO) Two bursts of breath roast Fenrir to a crisp. Strength and form are certainly no issue; your dragon can clearly hit hard, and hit the right way. It seems like keeping itself standing is a pretty big issue for him, though - if he was against something faster than Fenrir - and I do have a tougher Fenrir up my sleeves - he would've been in for a bad time." Tell me where these animals were acquired from, and I will believe that you are a new recruit."
  16. He took his name off the sign ups at the last second. I would've picked him.
  17. He was doing a damn fine job, but he got much too worn out much too fast... Let's see how it goes from here."
  18. "Nice to meet you, Karie. And don't worry about being "new" to all of this, because Eschaton is like nowhere else. ...Except maybe Etheria. You're one of the Heroicans, right? It's nice to see some people who like to take things... Slower, I guess? Most warrior types like to flock to the training grounds and duke it out with Strivus's creations. I think Telethia must've told you about how memories float around this place, right? Well, we want to contain them, and have a way for those who are authorized to see 'em at will. I'm basically an archivist, except I'm dealing with a whooooole lot of memories. Some are kind of sad, but a lot are happy, too. Either way, I channel them into these crystals. It's a bit difficult, but it'd be boring otherwise. After that we have our ways of tapping into these crystals. They're scattered all around Eschaton in fact, and I make more than half of them. If you ever want to find me, right here is a safe bet. That's also why this room is so great for meditation. Memories thrive here, in your head and out. I can guarantee you can remember stuff more clearly, sift through your thoughts more easily. It's a pretty big perk of working here." Glaz returns to his work, whistling out a few more bars of his tune before continuing. "I don't have all those fancy powers like all the other angels, really. Charon, Telethia, Vaermina can all pull off some neat stuff, but me? I'm just an empath. I can see what people are feeling, and that's about it. Part of the reason why I offered the chance of meditation. Not a bad power, though! Helped me become a better person in the end, I like to think."
  19. QM Note: Sorry for unclear wording - it's up to four turns total per round, meaning you only get three additional turns, max. Also, could you specify row? (You can choose row per attack, by the way.) "Your dragon is certainly enthusiastic, but Fenrir isn't going to lie down and take it." "Amongst my golems? No, no holy humanoids. Is there an angel in Eschaton like that? Most definitely."
  20. "Immortalis taught me the dialect he speaks - as in, one that's existed since he did. And considering he's the first dragon, you can imagine it's a bit... antiquated. Huh. I would've guessed you would've opted for group training, but be my guess if you want a one-on-one... Dragon, on the arena." Arx gets set. Strivus raises his scepter, and white stones begin to float out of the pond and take shape... It was a strange looking golem - four talons, and two stony protrusions that were tipped with barbs. Wings, perhaps? It mvoes more organically than its composition would imply, as it shifts its weight into a pouncing stance against Arx. "Meet Fenrir. Now, dragon, prepare yourself!" Prepare For Battle! Fenrir, Level 40 Ancient HP: 200/200 Specials: Fenrir Fracture: Fenrir rams into Arx, doing 50 damage and reducing the dragon's max HP by 10 for the rest of the battle. Fenrir Fend-Off: Fenrir becomes Evasive, and automatically dodges the next 2 succesful attacks, recieving 0 damage. Specials decided randomly. Arx the Youngling (Pet Dragon controlled by swils) Level: 48 2/5 Health: 78/78 (30+48) Element: (Ice, Darkness, Wood) One On One Rules: -The hero can take up to four turns per round. Each additional turn has a 1/3 chance of frustrating the enemy, boosting their level by 5. -Additionally, the hero may spend a turn resting, restoring HP to themselves equal to their level, at the cost of allowing their opponent's level to go up by 5 as well. --------- "I can handle multiple fights at once, you know. Jinnipher, Thormanil - newcomer, as well, please state your name - if you want to go toe to toe with some of my golems, either as a group or individually, just ask." Meanwhile, a bell from the judgment hall could be heard. "Well, well, well. Looks like the first judgment is done, judging by the bell." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Siercon speaks to the birds. <Caw! You don't have wings like the other fella, caw!> <No feed, either!> "They're right about the lack of wings, you know. Listen. I am not the brightest nor the most perceptive of Immortalis's workers. imply speak the truth, and I can give you a tour of the garden, and we can pretend this never happened. Fair enough?" A bell can be heard from the Judgment Hall. "That's one judgment down, by the sound of things. Five to go." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karie heads to the Reflection Room. An angel was working with a crystal, focused very intently on his work. He whistles a jolly little tune as azure magic is channeled through the gem. Karie notes his wings were more transparent than the brilliant gem he was working on. The sound of a ringing bell throughout the entire judgment hall snaps him out of his work momentarily, causing him to notice Karie. "Oh, my! Hello, stranger, I apologize I didn't hear you earlier... I was lost in my duties, I suppose. Without Telethia here to help me, I'm afraid I'm a little too easily entranced by my work. The poor girl must be running herself ragged right now, making sure everything goes smoothly. But still, it's nice to have company. I'm Iglesion, but everybody just calls me Glaz. Pleased to meet you!" Glaz gives a respectful bow. "I don't suppose there is anything I can help you with? If you fancy it, this room is great for some meditation. I can give you some guidance if you've never done it, if you'd like?"
  21. "That's... Quite peculiar. We normally get prior notice. And I can usually tell straight away... I lack the perception that my brethren have, if it doesn't apply to animals. So, Immortalis sent you here? What did he tell you to do? I was under the impression I had the wildlife garden pretty well under control."
  22. Strivus seems to wait a moment before responding. "I think your dragon just asked for an even match? I apologize, my draconic isn't up to snuff. Nevertheless, I can arrange that. I guess that means no Chakraval, then, heh."
  23. QM Note: Kinto has yet to specify where she wants to go.
  24. "Hmm. Good egg indeed. I have known you for three minutes. Yes. it is rude."
  25. "We're all fallen angels in some way here, removed from service to our previous deity or such one way or another. It was Charon that found me, and Immortalis that gave me a place to stay. Charon is a bit like a brother to me, really."
