"A deskjob? You? Nahh, no way, no how, I can see that. They didn't get you some really basic jobs though? Like, I sweeped floors at the merchant's shack for a year or two... But are most moon elevs really lassifish, errr, pacifists?"
-
"Yeah, nice to do some stuff that's, uh, more shtimulating, y'know? Then washing pigs. Don't s'pose you've ever had any boring jobs, before becoming a hero? Though I guess it isn't all sunshines and rainbows. Some people in Eubric aren't the best, like that weird fella that made a pass on you. Good job on telling him off, powerful stuff."

Oh, and something else I just remembered I wanted to do in my 147 wrap up! It's time for an episode of "Quest Ideas Endgame Came Up With But Does Not Have The Time To Host So Someone Else Can Do Them If They Really Feel Like It" (QIECUWBDNHTTTHSSECDTITRFLIT for short.) -One of Gabriel's contacts gets pissed that Gabriel is slowly moving his stake outside of the assassination/drugs business, and tries to take Gabriel out. -A hunting/tracking quest where the party is just released into a huge exoanse of nature (probably a snow mountain) and has to track down and kill a boss monster. Not heavy on NPC interaction, lots and lots of environmental pictures and exploring. -A murder mystery set in the Progg Colony, so I could finally flesh out all the locations there that the party has never been to. -A quest set n a casino in some foreign resort, in which the goal is to take the 400 gold given and drive it up to 3000 gold in earnings. Another mystery type thing, as there would've been factors such as cheaters and stacked games and such.

"I've done stuff! Like, *hic*, visit home and such... And for once, Pa didn't seem too down on me. Well, he's not always down, but he seemed, *hic*, satisfied." -------- Sorrow accepts the item from Arthur. "The Wolfgang are still up to no good, I imagine, they've just moved on from petty theft to grand larceny, if you know what I mean... Stay safe."
-
"This-" says the boy, swishing his glass. "is how a kid becomes a MAN. Or, uh, so I've heard. And, yeah. I have had one too many. Because one was too many. Hoo, boy... I trust you've been doing somethin' nice lately? Holdin' your liquor or savin' princesses maybe?" "Don't expect me to sign up, heh. These old bones can't do much more than a simple delivery nowadays, and even then some cartel or wolfgang thugs try to rob you. Hmph..."
-
I look up from my drink. "Ah, yes, he did." I say, taking out the trade items and handing them to Arthur. "Some company would be nice... What's been happening? Hah, whole bunch of nothing. Godawful storm a while back, but that's all. Hall has been... Well, the inhabitants are almost never quiet, but the questboard has been remarkably hush." -------------------------------------- Elsewhere, a young farmboy was recovering from a bit of stupor. He had been trying stronger and stronger drinks as of late - he had been goaded into trying the second to least most martini, and it seemed the lad had hit his limit. "What's... Hey, what's all the ruckus? That you, Jinnipher?" he says, slurring a bit.

I'd like to start right off the bat with an apology for that doomsday bomb used. Really no excuse for that besides me not being attentive and checking/following up on my PMs. For the sake of brevity, if I do not respond to a criticism, assume I agree with you. I can see where you're coming from with the Eschaton Squad acting unreasonably, but I think it is important to note that their version of benevolent is far, far different from a normal person's. I think Charon put it best in 147 when its a number game for them. If their peaceful options run out, and they think the extreme options will save more lives in the end, they'll do it. Were they right? Not really. They had a completely different view of the world. I cannot remember if this came into the main thread, but Immortalis told Jinnipher he sees all lives as equal. A nice sentiment, but treating all lives as just a homogenized statistic warps you. It's also why the lower angels were so accepting of their brethren getting slain for the most part; the Eschatonese only grieve when someone very close to them is lost. (see Charon and Immortalis.) Immortalis and the crew didn't have particularly human motivations because they didn't have particularly human views. despite this, I can admit that they might not have been the most fun to watch at times - they all live for their duty and nothing else, which can be tiresome - and that Immortalis was way stronger in PMs than in main thread. I delibrately had him have two demeanors for Pm/thread, and I can agree the PM one was waaaaaay better. Also, here's a random tidbit, but you can completely disregard this because of Death of the Author and whatnot: I consider Charon to be 147's main antagonist, not Immortalis. Also, I am starting to suspect people may look at Q70 through rose tinted glasses... I re-read it, and it was all pretty zany. Masson's plan was kinda harebrained there too. :tongue Also, no Endgame villain will have a plan as dumb as "I need to eat this magic fire, but to do that I need to not exist, so I will groom a bunch of heroes with a bunch of boss fights for no good reason to send them back in time to kill me so I don't exist so I can eat the magic fire so I can die for real." Despite the grace (or lack thereof) of The Regret's ending, I do like how he has kind of haunted the game since then. Also, on mopey Masson: I don't think anyone could go through what Masson has (especially because I have foreshadowed that, not unlike Gabriel, he inherited some of his father's mental illnesses) and not be a bit mopey. I purposely made his role smaller though, because I only wanted to do brotherly relationships moreso than spousal ones with him. I think his line near the end where he tells Gabriel that he wants to be more like him was one of his most significant. Q&A! -Awaiting in Eschaton? Nothing, really! I may have whipped up some improv surprise if you went to the Memorial on the second visit, but otherwise, I can't think of any missed... OH, on the first visit, you could've visitted the Silent Hall and chatted with Charon by writing (because there is no sound in the silent hall, duh. ) -I gave you guys Anemos because I felt like it. -Masson's mystery items was his battle of anti-anxiety/anti-depressants from Q70. He started with a lot, and they dwindled as battles and depressing/stressful stuff fro him occured. Scanning him with the Empath Crystal would be the quickest way to get him to fess up. -Oh boy, you guys diverged a lot from the story! First was Siercon earning himself an early spot in the Judgment Hall, by lying his way past Corvis. Next, you spared the angels. NORMALLY, there would have been a large riot awaiting you outside Heroica Hall before you could breach Eschaton, and the more slowing actions you took (saving the Cours from the syndicate fire, forging the water tunnel instead of draining it) the more intense the mob would've been. It would've been led by none other than Savato; Octavyn, Punii, Jonathan, and Alice Incor would've been mixed up in the fray, and they could've all died. Doing the slow actions would've let the mob swell up more, basically ensuring someone was gonna die. You bartered your way out of it. There was also originally gonna be a sidequest to stop Strivus, but I let that loose end tie itself up after Immortalis got killed, because the pacing was going towards a climax and a sidequest would've ruined that.
-
Don't really what to say much on 147... Rather just let the work speak for itself, I guess. I'd just like to extend another huge thank you to the Heroica community for four years of fun. I'll answer any questions y'all might have, but otherwise, I guess this is Endgame signing off.

It was work, it was help, and it cost him nothing but sweat and goodwill--what little of it he could raise after his daughter's departure. He grabs the pink parchment from the air on reflex, prepared to dismiss it as he had several that day, but something tells him this one was different. He unseals the message and scans its contents. As soon as he's finished, he lets out a sigh of relief. Nothing he could do would bring Miirym back to him. But now, at least, he knew at least one set of friendly eyes would be watching over her. He puts a hand to the door of Number 14 Heron Street. It is time to rejoin the family he still has. ----------------------------------------------- One day passed since the Storm. Thormanil lingers around the hall with Arx, the former nursing a mead and the latter keeping to his own. The day of judgment had taxed both of them, and now they finally had rest. The skies were fortunately clear. It was quiet, until the Dragonlord approaches the both of them. "Congratulations for another quest done, Thormanil. You and Arx have accomplished a lot." "It was really a team effort, I doubt we could have done it without the reinforcements you sent us. I wonder where Miirym has flown off to?" Arx snorts and interjects, <"I bet we could have done without that loudmouthed little brat Lind. You know I was about to throw him right back to that mob? I would have done it."> "I'm sure you would have," Thormanil chuckles. "He was at least good for takin some of the heat off us though, eh? We don't have to like everyone, just gotta tolerate em to get the job done." "So what's the plan moving forward, any big changes for the city now that the crisis is averted?" "I don't think Immortalis was entirely right with his predictions. But something is brewing, we knew that before he got here. And we will have to do something to stop it." "Well, you know where to find us." He gave the Dragonlord a nod and turned his attention back to his mead. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- One day had passed since the Storm ended. Life reluctantly returned to Eubric. The streets were not quite hustling and bustling as usual... seeing some houses, some buildings, reduced to nothing by rain and wind had that effect on people. But the streets were not empty. As proof of this, a black knight was walking the streets of the city he helped saved. Someone else was there, too... A tiny little worm hustling about with a package strapped to his back. "Oh, *wheeze*, you're Lind, right?" "The one and only." He crouched down on one knee. "Punii, wasn't it? Need any help with that package?" "N-no, it's good, it's *cough* good!" Punii pauses. "So Immortalis really *hic* turned on us... And you really stopped him." "It was a group effort." The Black Knight sighed. "And it could have been done with a lot less collateral damage..." "...I went up with The Regret, *wheeze* once upon a time. You can't... You can't win 'em all." "No, I suppose not." The Black Knight nodded contemplatively. "So - how are things underground?" "We're not doing... that well. It's still tough, just getting *wheeze* everyone on the same page, getting everyone to work together. Progress is slow, but we'll... We'll get it *wheeze* done. One day..." "Well, I know Sir Arthur is coming to assist, and he's an engineer, so that should help speed things up a bit. And Vindsval, and I'll be there, doing what we can." "Well... I'm glad." Punii hefts the package back onto his serpentine back. "Be seeing you around, then." "You too, little guy. Stay safe." Lind watched the little Progg happily - although he had a strange feeling of sadness, as if he would not likely see the little creature ever again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One day passed since the Storm. Karie awakes in her own bed in her own home. There were times where she had a feeling she may never get to return there, but there she was. There was, in fact, someone missing, though. Masson went to bed with Karie that night, but wasn't there in the morning. His sheets were peeled back like he had gotten up and went somewhere... Karie rubbed her eyes as she looked around her room for Masson. Sleep averted her for most of the night, and she still felt tired. "Masson?" Karie called out as she groggily got out of bed. "You up? Everything alright?" She grabbed her house coat as she waited for her husband's reply, shuffling it on. Karie hears her husband's voice from a door down the hallway. "In the nursery, sweetie!" The minstrel heads into her daughter's room, and finds Masson sitting in a chair, cradling their baby in his arm. Little Rachelle had learned to hold onto her father's arm for a bit more support. The two of them looked content. "Started crying two hours ago, figured you wanted some sleep... Been keeping her company." Karie smiled. Even though the road was long and arduous, she had come out of the fight on top. She made sure that there was something for her daughter to look forward to. She leaned against the wall. "So. What happens next?" Masson bites his lip. "Are you... okay with the teaching thing we talked about earlier?" He tilts his head to the chair next to him. "Sit next to me." Karie moved next to Masson, taking a seat. "I have no issues with you teaching at the Academy. I have a personal issue with the guy that runs the place, but if you want to teach, then teach." Karie patted Masson's leg in a comforting manner. "I think you'd be good at it." Masson sighs as if a huge burden was lifted off of him. He leans over and kisses his wife on the cheek. "Thank you - so much - for your support." he sits quietly for a while, rocking little Rachelle back and forth slowly. He tilts the baby towards Karie. "Looks like she has your hair, you know." he says, smiling - and indeed, there were little red tufts of hair on her head. Karie smiled back to Masson, happy that for once nothing seemed to trouble him. She looked down at their daughter, inspecting the colour of her hair. A wave of emotions washed over her as she looked over her daughter. "Huh." Karie responds gently. "So she does." "We'll have to explain the missing arm and the facepaint one day, won't we?" says Masson, sounding more amused than anxious about the prospect. "Yeah. Let's not rush things, though." Karie responded. She wasn't sure how she was going to tell her daughter about what had gone on in her life, or her husbands, and why things were the way they were, but for the time she was happy that she had something stable in her life with her family. "Yep. I think we got at least three years before we get to that point." Masson places Rachelle back in her crib. "I'll go make us breakfast." he says, showing himself out of the nursery to the kitchen. "Alright, let me know when it's ready." Karie replies, watching her husband leave the nursery before getting up herself. She takes a quick moment to look into her daughter's crib before returning to her room in order to get dressed for the day. -------------------------------------------- One day had passed since the Storm. A winged figure manifests behind Siercon. "You'll be happy to know that the Crystrow flies the skies once more." Siercon turns and smiles, he puts out both hands as if to give Corvis a hug, and then realizes that friendships he had in his head weren't always realities... So he cuts himself short and offers Corvis a Hand... "I am very glad to hear that... and to see that you live. Were others able to make it out before Eschaton fell... It has plagued my heart that countless seemingly went extinct..." "And for everything, I'm sorry to the greatest degree I can be. Your home, your king, your friends. I don't want to insult you with 'We had to.' but I know that war is pain, loss, and injury. and for those on both sides..." Siercon said sincerely "I mourn with you." ... "So... what are you doing now... and where might I find the Crystow building it's new home?" Corvis accepts the outstretched hand and shakes. His hand goes still a moment, before it slips back to his side. "Don't get too excited. I couldn't save all of them. Some of them couldn't survive in Olegaia for a minute. They... I gave them the most painless death I could. Better than drowning. The rest will likely not reproduce. They have one life to live here. ...What has happened has happened. I'm going to take some steps to vanish. As for the Crystrow... Well, who knows. Watch the skies." His head sinks. "Understandable, much was lost." Siercon looks up at the sky for just a moment, and then returns his gaze to Corvis. "As for the Crystow, I will..." He then pull out one of the angel general's feathers he had collected. It was Corvis's feather, "This was taken in battle when we were still enemies, and when I thought you would die. But now... I can return it if you so wish?" Siercon holds out the prominent 'Corvis feather' Corvis reluctantly takes the feather. "...Thank you. Eubric's future is still unsafe. Be vigilant, and maybe things will turn out alright." And with that, Corvis bends his knees, launches up, and soars away, likely never to be seen by Heroica again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- One day had passed since the Storm. On a walk through Eubric, Vindsval encounters a familiar gold faced man. "Hey... Vindsval, right? Thanks again for digging Masson and Gabriel out of that hot mess at the HQ. And, y'know... Stopping the storm and stuff." Vindsval looks down at the golden clad man. Indeed that is my name. I can still feel the heat of those flames. Was quite the hellfire. What will you and yours do now that your headquarters lies in cinder and ash? The storms will not trouble us again, at least not the storms of the Elder Wyrm. I do wish there had been another way. There was far more destruction than I would have seen done, but the Path that was walked in the Path that was shown. Tell me sir, is there something you would have of me? "Well... As of now, I am the de facto leader of the Syndicate. Masson chose to step down. We're just kind of congregating at our own places. Continuing our work as best we can. It hurts to see our leader go. But he's gone through enough, I think. Maybe one day he'll be back at the helm, maybe not. No, just wanted to thank you again for all you have done, because I haven't thank you enough. You a drinking man, Vindsval?" Congratulations on your promotion. It does you credit that you do not seek the power that has been given you. It will temper your hand. I appreciate your gratitude sir. Members of the hall seem to receive little recognition from the people at large at time. It does a man good to know his work has been recognized. I do enjoy a good drink when I have the leisure to do so. Though I warn you, these hands do not far well with normal glassware. Mistress Shaherizad has been forced to order small batch items simply to have the empty quarter casks for me to use as a mug. Would you care to share a drink and toast to your future and the future of the city? "Heh, on the clock right now, but I can fix you up with a keg if you stop by the Albatross later, deal?" I shall make a point to see you there sir. May our Paths cross there soon. -------------------------------------- One day passed since the Storm. The moon elf and her partner stayed in the Albatross Inn's bar during that evening. It was mostly quiet. There was a light, soothing piano melody as Gabriel's hands danced across the keys, the occasional chatter, the clinking of wine glasses being lifted for a sip... Having worked that morning, the sniper was still dressed sharply Jinnipher saw him in this suit more often than not. It was a nice uniform, at least. "Y'know. Taking over the bar just for you and I after it closes... This might count as an abuse of power, huh?" Gabriel smiles as his fingers continue to glide across the piano. She sat on a stool at the bar, nearest to Gabriel and the piano. She leaned back with her elbows on the counter as she enjoyed a glass of moon elven wine. "Careful about that. You don't want this crowd to start an uprising." She waved her hand sarcastically and looked around at the docile customers lazily. Then she looked at Gabriel, her almond eyes creating a gaze that pierced through his skull. "It's like nothing ever even happened here." "It'll be a story they tell their kids or something. They'll remember. But for now... Easier to just drink it away. That, and sweep the floors and repair the windows. I helped with that this morning." Gabriel stands up and fetches Jinnipher a refill. The rest of the haggard bar patrons return to their rooms, leaving the sniper and knight alone. Gabriel puts an arm around Jinnipher and continues to play piano with one hand. "So what's the plan from here?" "Like I said the other day, try to keep anyone like Immortalis from destroying the city. And if there are any small-time jobs in-between, well, I've got to do something with my time. Are you going to keep rotting away in this bar or what?" Gabriel chuckles. "I still keep my little contracts going underground. And I'm set for life, because the people who go through backwater channels are also willing to shell out a lot more of a hired cannon like myself. I guess I was more referring to plans for... Us, I guess?" Jinnipher shrugged. "I see no reason why we need to change anything. So long as we're both still in Eubric we can still... do what we're doing." Gabriel takes a sip of his drink. "Penthouse in this building just opened up, you know. I was figuring I could rent it. Maybe share it with someone?" "Who did you have in mind?" Jinnipher grinned slyly. "Oh me? Well I sure would miss passing out at Heroica Hall or spending nights in dingy inns. But, sure, why not?" She smiled. "I'd hate to deny you the authentic hero experience, but if you want to keep killing gods, you're going to have to sleep in an actual bed. You'll have to share the bed with me, though." Gabriel takes the moon elf by the hand and stands up. "And here you were, 'Fine to keep doing what we're doing.' What do you say we head up and spend one last night in my dingy old inn room before we both move someplace much nicer?" She half-rolled her eyes. "Always with the charm. Well we just saved the city, so I guess that's something to celebrate." She took his hand and followed him up to the room. ----------------------------------------- One day had passed since the Storm. There was still work to be done. But at the very least, the people of Eubric knew it was raining somewhere else that day. And that's curtains. Thanks to everyone who read/participated/helped with this four year, fifteen quest adventure.

Just tying up some last things before the final loot update! Also, clarification behind Iudeus: the description just means you can't stack the double WP buff. (You can upgrade it to WP: 30 and awaken it to 60 for a round, but you can't awaken again and bring it up to WP: 120)

Gabriel glares at Karie that was almost as deadly as his aim. "And I can only imagine what you do with my brother behind closed doors." The Dragonlord looks at the dragon parts offered to him. "...There was a blacksmith here, actually. Claiming that he wanted to show "those Heroicans what a real blacksmith can do." Very enthusiastic about his craft. He's waiting outside this room." The party ventures out, and a blading old man hefting a hammer was outside. "I'm Flavius. I think I've met a couple of ya? When I heard you Heroican fellas were after a bona fide dragon, I'd show you what a lifetime of experience could actually do. Told ya I'd show you what I could do with some raw material, didn't I?" And after a few hours of work, Flavius reveals his masterpiece... Armor honed from the remnants of Immortalis. Wear it, and wield unspeakable power. Karie sees the flowers already begin to wither, very slowly but very surely. Masson accepts the flowers from Arthur, still some life in them, and presents them to Karie. Arthur's magic compass briefly points to the judgment corridor, before spinning out of control. Gone from Eschaton entirely, likely. The party looks one last time at the serpentine corpse before taking their leave. The path back is not a long one. Down the steps, through the judgment corridor - Charon's body had been moved - weave through the empty passages of Eschaton halls, and there was the portal. The party steps in... Elsewhere, the people of Eubric rejoice as the storm ends. ------------------------------------------------- A tiny little hutch was all that protected Garson and his sister from being snuffed in the storm. They had no money for a hotel, n relatives to stay with, only a tiny thatch roof held up by wooden supports. They never did figure out who built it. "I can't believe it... Look, Vella, look!" And look Vella does. "And here I was, thinking you had gone through all the trouble of curing me to have it go out like this... But... Yeah, my god. It's over..." ----------------------------------------------- The golden masked Octavyn and his troop of syndicate peons huddled up int eh bar of the Albatorss. The windows had busted in, glass and rain and dirt whipped across the bar from the storm's might. The hooded occupants unhuddle and stare out, greeted by a pristine night sky instead of the dreadful storm that was once there. "...Did they pull it off, uncle?" Beneath his mask, the admin was smiling, already about to run out for a much needed gulp of fresh air. "Yep. They sure did. Those crazy bastards actually pulled it off!" Octavyn and the rest go outside, celebrating... their moods only sour a bit as they look upon the ashes of the Syndicate HQ. It seemed more final now, now that the cinders had settled, now that the rain had stopped. Eubric won, but the Syndicate still lost something. The admin only tands at the edge of the rubble, and hopes for the safe return of his friends, joy giving way to contemplation. ------------------------------------------------------ Beneath Eubric, the proggs still seethed. "The storm is over, so it seems." Solon heaves a sigh of relief, but still remains tense. "The storm is over. That's... That's good. But the populace...?" "The people of the colony... It's still in unrest, to put it lightly. I have my men working as hard as they can, but..." The two friends stand in silence. "We have a lot of work to do, don't we, Fydelle?" "Yes, I think we do, sir." ---------------------------------------------- An abandoned warehouse near the border of Eubric. Strivus puppeteers his legion of golems, blocking the people of Eubric in from leaving. A battered Glaz and Corvis, struggling to even walk, let alone carry the corpse of their friend and commander, enter. "Strivus. We're sorry." Charon's body was still dripping fluid. Blood mixed with poison. "Charon? Charon! You can't be..." he goes up and tries to rouse Charon from his slumber. The archangel would never wake again. The masked angel steps back and cradles his head in a hand, the other clenched into a fist. "Him and Immortalis." Strivus freezes, and tears down the blockade he had put up next to the windows to hide his activities. The sky was clear. "God dammit... I should've tried something! I should've been more proactive, should've sent some golems their way, stop this from-!" "Strivus. It's over. None of us can stop them. For better or worse, they are the masters of their own fate now. If they're strong enough to topple Immortalis, there... There may be hope yet." "There's more to this than our cause. That is our friend's corpse you are holding in your hands, and-" "-and he will be buried. We'll cast him to the rivers as he always wanted. He will be with Telethia. And then we will fade into obscurity. It is over, Strivus. Over. I don't like it either. But it is what it is." Strivus holds back his rage. Considers his options. And with the snap of his fingers, reduces his golems patrolling Eubric's border to lifeless husks. "Let's leave. Before I change my mind about this entire damn mess." --------------------------------------------------------- The party travels through the portal back into Eubric. It closes behind them. It was likely the realm of Eschaton was lost for good in that moment. By the time someone else figured how to access it... all that would be left was an endless sea, the elder's body somewhere deep in the abyss. "From the lack of rain, I'd say this is a successful quest." QM Note: One more update to go before I can let you off the hook... and it will be mostly goodies.

Ikarus stares at Siercon. "My wounds have yet to heal. Poison courses through my veins. I lack the fortitude to do as you request." "What is best is what I have wanted. The judgments were always an attempt to help. If not to help the judged, then to help the others around them... The people of Eubric suffered for the greater good. But now, they shall suffer for nothing. And that certainly is a crime. And if you think it is worthy of death, well... Do as you will." "No. Each of us in Eschaton had a function. Vaermina, the dreams that roamed here at night.. Telethia and Glaz, the memories kept here by day. Strivus, the golem sentries who protected it. Corvis, the gardens that would hold the helpless. Charon, the one who created the vast seas to build it all upon. And myself, who laid the down the terrain." With great difficulty, Immortalis turns to look at the expanse of ocean the party had battled over. "If I die... All of it, everything we have built, will sink into the endless sea here before long. The eschaton of Eschaton, so to speak. All of the history and the endangered animals, gone..." Ikarus utter his last words as he sees Jinnipher raises her blade. "The future is yours now. May the dragons set fire to your hearts and fly them away." The vorpal blade catches at first, the elder's scales repelling the blade. But soon it cuts through, severing the head from the neck. And so the very first dragon was slain, his corpse doomed to be erased along with his boundless archives. There was no struggle. No last gasp. Just acceptance as he was cleaved in two. Eubric's future was in the hands of the people, for better or worse. His eyes stayed open, still burning bright. They would continue to glow, until Eschaton finally collapsed into nothingness... Eschaton goes still. The pleasant breeze that always blew through the realm had died with Ikarus. Even the water's gentle waves paused. Masson surveys the battlefield one last time. "...I don't want to be here anymore. Lets head back to the portal. It's over."

All Origin Dragons got beat in six rounds, if memory serves.

Thormanil pulls of a devestating strike as Arxc is revived. Arthur fails to make proper use of his oepning, but Miirym swoops in and ignites a miasma of fog right on the elder's wound. The dragon is thrown backwards, unable to dodge the devestating powerof Siercon's catacylsm bomb. Lind scores another hit on the wing, and Jinnipher slashes at one of the judge's wrists. The dragon's grip on his saber falters. The bolt flashes out of existence. Ikarus stares at his remaining sword, glances at his wounds, and makes a decision. He lets his other sword fade away. Disarmed, the Father of Dragons knows he was defeated. he stands idle and waits for the poison to claim of his consciousness. Before long, it does... and with one last mournful howl, Ikarus topples. The rain slows, and then stops. The dark clouds that swirled over the final battlefield unravel, becoming wisps of darkness before withdrawing. With its master taken down, the storm dispersed. Serenity returned to Eschaton. The party stares up at the boundless night sky, not a single cloud obscuring them, not a single drop of rain falling. "Eubric should be looking like this too, now... We did it." rasps Masson, haggard from battle. "Job isn't done yet." Gabriel draws his handcannon, walks over to the unconscious Ikarus, and plants the barrel right between his eyes. As his index finger rests on the trigger, the feel of cold metal rouses something primal in Ikarus, and the dragon startles awake. Gabriel steps back, afraid that the judge might try lunging at him, but he simply lays inert. Ikarus hacks up some blood before speaking in hoarse tones. "The storm in Eschaton and Eubric has faded away. I have no intentions of fighting any more. Do as you wish."

QM: A heatwave means everyone turned on their AC, and the poor power grid couldnt take it; lost power for a bit! Update coming tomorrow.

Thanks for all of the years of hard work, Sandy.

"Believe what you will. Stop me, you are the keepers of your own future. It will be hard to remain ignorant forever when true armageddon is knocking on your door."
-
"...No matter the outcome of this fight, there will be no more judgments after this. I grow weary. But Eubric remains doomed. And thus the Storm stays."
-
Gabriel shakes his head. He stays moving, watching the sky for the lightning bolt that could claim his, or Jinnipher's, Masson's, or anyone else's life. He reaches through his things, trying to dig up a grand potion. "...You're making all the same mistakes as your grandfather." Ikarus sadly nods. He pauses. "We all only wanted the best for the world. I should not have let it come to this."
-
"I... Am not in control of these memories, right now. With telethia dead, they're running wild." The dragon draws a deep breath. "You think I want to die? I am tired. I am so very tired. I will confess that. But I promised Eyva that I would protect this world, and I will continue to just that. Lethauros hunted until he was bested. Vorpalis conquered until he was stopped. And I will continue to judge until I die. That is my duty." Gabriel looks at the golden dragon. "Immortalis became what he is now because he took responsibility for lives that weren't his. You want to go down that path, little dragon?" Fade To Black: Immortalis calls down the storm, cloaking the entire battlefield in electric black clouds. All heroes reciedve the Electrified 10 effect, and for the next round, all of Immortalis becomes Shrouded (1/2 chance to evade damage) Judgment Day: Immortalis deals 9999 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage, and passes his verdict upon the party, Dooming all of them. Limbs cannot be taken out individually - All of his body parts fall when the collective HP hits zero. Adapt: All negative effects last two rounds on any of Immortalis' parts - when they expire, they will be permanently added to that body part's list of immunities. An insta-kill attack will not destroy that limb, but it will reset its immunities back to the default ones. (Immortalis cannot adapt to Bleeding, Poison, Burning, and Fragile, so those effects will work as they normally do.) Torn To Shreds: All attacks reduce the SP of the limb being damaged by 25; SP can go into the negatives, adding to the damage of attacks. Thormanil leaps down from the stormy sky, plunging into Immortalis' torn up wing. The origin dragon in recoils in pain as the dragoon quite nearly punches a hole as big as the half giant himself in it... But as Arx charges in for a follow up attack, Immortalis bats him away, knocking the poor dragon out cold. "The way you're leaning into some of these hits... The way you're hardly trying to pull back whenever we manage to land a blow. You're... You're letting yourself being torn to pieces, aren't you...?" "Maybe Charon wasn't just spouting garbage. You may be hitting as hard as you can, but an elder dragon like you can take hits better than this." "I-" Before the elder dragon can respond, another flower in the garden beings to shimmer. Another memory was coming back to life. "No..." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was only darkness. Huge shapes, stirring in the shade. Perhaps the dragon could not see during whatever event this memory was retelling. Perhaps his mind wanted to blot it out entirely. Voices. Two, wizened voices, talking to each other. "Hush, now. We both knew very well this was going to occur. It happens to every living thing - except, apparently you. We have to accept it." "I... I've been warning you, trying to prepare you. I looked everywhere. Some way to avert it, some way to..." "I said hush, darling. I'm prepared. I'm ready - there's no cure for old age. No cure I'm ready to take, anyway. It's time, though." "..." "We did so much good together, darling. Taught so many. Brought so many kingdoms into the golden age. Raised two beautiful sons. What have I left to do here?" "...I still want you by my side, Eyva." "And I want to be by yours. And I still have a precious few hours left to do it, I think, if these old bones can sustain me luch longer. But you will continue to do what you do, Immortalis. You will protect the world. You will keep them safe... Won't you?" "I - Yes. Yes, of course I will." Kind, sweet laughter from the first voice. Hoarse, scartchy laughter, that becomes dreadful hacking. She pauses. "You are really living up to your title, you know that?" "Yes. It's... Apt." "You have to admit, your real name is so much... nicer. Ikarus just has a good ring to it." "...Eyva, is this really what is on your mind right now? You're really so ready for this?" "You told me how it was going to go. You saw it coming, you did what you could to stop it. It'll be painless, hopefully. So don't you dare take any blame for my passing. Just... promise that you will stay with me, until it's over, okay?" Immortalis' voice trembles. "Okay... I promise..." --------------------------------------------- The memory ceases. The elder dragon was beaten. Bruised. Bloodied. Immortalis stands solemnly in the rain, muttering a prayer. The party can only discern the last few words of it. "...This has to end. May the gods have mercy on me for all I have down..." Immortalis calls down two lightning bolts. Wordlessly, the dragon's claws reach out and clutch them. The garden shakes as he tightens his grip around the blue streaks in the sky. With great effort, Immortalis - or perhaps Ikarus, as his name was, long ago - tears two bolts straight from the heavens, wielding them like blades. Electricity and blood surge from every single one of his many wounds, filling him with power. "...And all that I am about to do..." "..." Ikarus, Father of Dragons, Level 200 Ancient *Bleeding 10!* *Poison 60!* *Immune to Instant Kill, Minimization, and Hexed!* HP: 22,698/50,000 SP: -175 Specials: The Sky Is Falling: Immortalis calls forth a barrage of lightning strikes, smiting the heroes. All heroes have a 1/2 chance of taking electrical-elemental damage equal to their level times three. This attack also temporarily changes Immortalis's type from Ancient to Electric for 3 rounds. Fade To Black: Immortalis calls down the storm, cloaking the entire battlefield in electric black clouds. Specials decided randomly. Passive Specials: Last Stand: All of Immortalis' limbs share the same 50,000 HP. Targeting and successfully hitting Immortalis' head reduces the SP of all body parts by 50. Bombs do not lower SP or recieve extra damage due to negative SP. Negative SP will be added before multipliers when calculating damage. Heaven's Arc: Immortalis slashes the hero who rolled Special Damage, and all of the heroes in the same row as them, for 64 electric elemental damage each. Specials cycle. Passive Specials: Stagger: Succesfully targetting and hitting all of Immortalis' body parts in a round Staggers him, preventing his hastened limbs from getting any extra free hits.
